Dover Straits has been open now for 37 years… and NO place lasts almost 4 decades unless they are consistently doing pretty much everything right! Last night I hosted a Christmas dinner dance party in the dining area of their lounge for 93 people. All of us were seated for dinner, and our four-course meal with a choice of five entrées was spot-on across the board. We were all served at the same time, the food was fresh, hot and tastefully presented(even with their signature twice-baked potatoes, quite labor-intensive!), and the waitstaff was so attentive that as soon as people entered the lounge area, they were asked what beverage they might enjoy. Yes, this is an «old world» place. And yes, the world and the restaurant industry is lucky to still have some old world places left! No hustle and bustle, very cozy and intimate lighting and seating, and extensive menu with fresh seafood as well as many other choices including beef, chicken, pork, pasta, and more. Of all of my 93 guests last night, every single one raved about what a spectacular evening it was. Would I risk having my holiday dinner party the Sunday before Christmas at a place I had any doubts about? Absolutely not! And Dover Straits always meets and exceeds my expectations and ideals, whether I am on an intimate date night with a significant other, or out with a huge group of friends to celebrate a special occasion. I have been dining at Dover Straits since soon after they first opened, originally at family«fancy night out» dinners hosted by my grandparents, and eventually by my parents, treating us for only a very, very special night. Although I only get the opportunity to visit here now maybe twice a year based on where I live, it is still always a treat and a special night. If you want to relax, be welcomed and treated graciously from the moment you enter the door, and enjoy your dinner in an intimate and cozy atmosphere, in a classic, relaxed yet sophisticated old-world manner, Dover Straits is the place. Bön appetit!

Salad boat with my entrée? Yes, please! We like to sit in the bar area in a booth. Nice starters for seafood lovers…

This place is a classic. Fresh seafood excellently prepared and served with grace. The wait staff is very professional and the host welcomes you like you are a regular. The atmosphere is very definitely old school but the food is delicious and the place is busy but quiet so you can actually visit with your friends.
