Was at Jakes today for the Bears game. Bears sucked but Jake’s didn’t. Amber rocked. Be back next week. Wait. See ya mañana.

This place is mind-​blowing. In a very shitty way. If he owner is there just walk out. No joke anything you get sucks and comes with a half a head of lettuce. A BLT is 8 dollars and has 2 inches of lettuce on top of 2 strips of bacon. Tuesday tacos tho!!! Just get there right when they start because they will be out of them within 10 minutes despite the 7 people there. Have your order ready for a drink too because you have a 5 second window to decide what else you want because there are out of every beer too… then they walk away as if they are busy. Can’t stress enough the deadbeat owner goes nearly every night and the very few bartenders that aren’t total shits will become that way because he encourages it. Luckily for them nobody will read this because it’s in the middle of a residential area and you’ll completely miss it anyways.

Great little bar! Clean and friendly people with the cool Chicago neighborhood feel. Has gaming and really cold beer!

Super dive bar with very decent burgers and fried chicken. I ordered a cheeseburger medium and it was actually cooked to medium. They do charge extra for fries and onion rings with the burgers. I’ve only been here for lunch so I can’t comment on the night life here but during the day everyone seems very pleasant.

What a cool neighborhood dive bar! I just happened upon the place, and was a bit intimidated walking in shortly after midnight on a Monday, but I ended up having a great experience. The bartender, Aiden I believe, seamed weary of an out of town face at first, but was beyond friendly and personable after a few minutes. The local crowd was fun, down to earth, and talked sports and traveling. The drinks were reasonable, and the bar was a unique, home like atmosphere. Hopefully I’ll be back sometime to try the burgers!

It’s been a while for me. Like long enough that if this bar/​restaurant was a first date — I might consider overlooking the deficiencies and focus on the bigger picture. But, I just can’t focus — because if smoking was still allowed inside I might not have crossed the threshold. And then the pleasant bar tender brought the jalapeño poppers. Overlook the cobwebs overing the television, the wood floor so beer stained it seems to be withering in despair, the bar rail that looks like a million elbows have leaned on it. And then she brought out our sandwiches. Myself and another in our party had burgers. Thick sliced onion, a generously buttered and grilled bun and a juicy and tasty patty cooked to order good stuff. The tomato was thick sliced but insipid almost disappointed to even be created a winter tomato having been denied it’s summer flavor potential. My friend had a bacon chicken grill which he enjoyed thoroughly. But back to the poppers — each was ½ a sliced pepper generously stuffed with cream cheese or cheddar, battered and fried served piping hot with ranch that had just the right amount of pepper for this ranch loving Midwestern girl. Yes, it’s a dive bar. For sure. And it wouldn’t be my choice for a late night hang out really. But to watch a game, grab carry out, eat a Saturday afternoon burger with friends — absolutely. The server we had was friendly. The owner I can only imagine that was him was outside washing windows. Not 5 stars because — cobwebs and my
Mind running off to what else isn’t clean cause that’s what I do. The food was great. I will return should my travels ever take me back through!

I stopped in here to meet my mom and family friends and what terrible awkward service! I’m not picky and understand this is a divey neighborhood bar but the bartender was sooo rude… I don’t if it’s because she recognized my bf & I from h.s. and she’s still hanging out in this sad town picking up our empty bottles but I definitely won’t ever be stopping in here again!

It took me awhile to finally decide to come here, but I was not disappointed. No joke, they server a good burger. Definitely a dive bar, but it was very comfortable. Bartender was friendly and you felt like you could join in the conversation with the regulars. I highly recommend you put the dive bar description aside and give this place a try.

Taco Tuesday this is the place to be… Great $ 1 tacos a very good selection of beers including haacker pschorr on tap… and great service

I would like everybody to know that If u r handicap. U can’t go to jakes. I and my disabled girlfriend were recently asked by the owner to vacate because of our service dog. So not only can u not go in a wheel chair. But u may or may not have the police called on u for not leaving if u r handicap.
My wish is that all service people boycott jake morans.

Ok seriously, great reviews of this dive bar peeked my interest and we went to check it out. Décor was slummy, bar tender was extremely crass talking about getting drunk or high, burger seems nothing more than a frozen patty on a butter soaked bun, fries were lame and cole slaw was laughable, but the ranch for the onion rings was pretty good. And it’s not cheap, we spent 40 bucks on a beer an app and a couple burgers… Unilocal has disappointed me on this restaurant… But maybe I’m not a dive bar person?

Here is all you need to know about Jake Moran’s:
1. It’s a dive in every sense of the word.
2. Bartenders have always been friendly and attentive.
3. Food is always hot and prepared right.
4. Burgers are especially (and surprisingly) good.
5. Prices are very reasonable.
6. Beer selection is basic but they usually have a couple good taps.
7. Atmosphere is your typical neighborhood bar – basic, laid back, welcoming. You can come as you are.
You have to be in the right mood to go to a place like Jake Moran’s. For us, that mood is usually «worked out in the yard all afternoon and didn’t feel like making lunch and/​or changing to go somewhere nicer.»

Burgers are great, staff is attentive and drinks are cold! The bacon cheese burger is my favorite! And The cole slaw is the best I’ve ever had!!!

This place had good food, pretty quick service, a clean bathroom, and decent prices! The only downside was the atmosphere. Basic bar atmosphere, which I was expecting, but was smaller than I thought it would be and a lot colder near the windows,. Would probably come here again!

Great place ! Moved back from the city to the burbs and missed my local corner tavern until I found this place. Billy the owner is GREAT. Burgers are the BEST, ranch dresing is SO good I love to dip my fries in it and the slaw is awesome. For the ladies out there I have to tell you the womens bathrooom is REALLY nice for a beer/​burger joint. Good conversation and good people. I guarantee you will love it!

Ever since they passed the smoking band I can’t get enough of this place. The steak sandwich (which is also great) was the only thing my wife would order until one time she had a bite of my bacon burger, It’s now a toss up for her. The burgers are always juicy and very flavorful. The service is great too. Try the fries and get grilled onions on the burger.

Went here with my boss and a coworker for lunch once, and I was pretty skeptical at first. My boss warned us beforehand that it was kind of a dive.
I had a burger (medium) with grilled onions, cheddar, and bacon. It was delicious. The grilled onions were sweet and sticky, and the bacon tasted great and bacony. The burger itself was cooked to perfection with perfect juiciness, and the bun was hot and buttery. This might be one of the best burgers I’ve had out.
The onion rings I had were kind of bad. They were much too breaded, and ended up being slightly hard to chew.
All in all, 5 stars for the burger, –1 star for the atmosphere (dirty, kind of awkward if you’re not a regular).

Phenomenal Burgers & some of the best Broasted Chicken around. 4 piece Broasted Chicken with Broasted Potatoes & slaw for $ 5 all day Sunday. $ 3 beers & $ 3 shots. How can you go wrong?

The burgers at Jake Moran’s are absolutely fantastic. Add fries and a beer and it’ll still only cost you about $ 10.
That being said, Jake Moran’s probably isn’t for everybody. Like Nate P. mentioned, this is a house converted into a dive bar. There aren’t very many tables, and on the weekend it can get pretty noisy. On the other hand, I’ve been there on weeknights and been the only one there.
As long as you’re OK with the atmosphere, stop in, because you’re not going to find a better burger anywhere in the area.
