Stopped here after reading the reviews and wasn’t disappointed. Bought Chicken tamales, pork tamales and a burrito. My son said the pork tamales were great and I had the burrito and chicken tamales. Fantastic burrito lot of Flavor and the tamales were hot and good will be stopping here again.

I only stop by here before work or class to grab a couple tamales. The tamales are pretty good, the pork ones are my favorite, and are pretty easy on the wallet. Can’t say much about other things on their menu but the tamales are the bomb

Great little place and friendly staff. The tortillas are homemade and the meat is very flavorful. The only reason I gave four stars and not five is they made a small mistake with my order but not a big deal. Will be back soon!

Fresh and delicious with excellent service! Just had dinner there and loved the asada taco, tortilla chips with excellent guac, #5 combo and chile rellenos. We found this place on Unilocal and are glad we did. Clean, delicious and very friendly service. Yummmmm!

Love finding places like this one. Was in town watching a HS baseball game and needed to fine some lunch. This place was just a couple blocks away and decided to give it a try. I would describe the place as family owned business with authentic food with Fresh ingredients. The menu is pretty extensive and plenty of tables to sit. The pictures on Unilocal give you an accurate view of the place. I only had time to order a couple of chicken tacos which were great. Plenty of toppings and sauces and a fresh wedge of lime which was a nice touch. Definitely a place to visit. Cheers.

Service isn’t the best. But the tamales are amazing and well priced. My favorite Mexican joint in the area.

Upon walking in, I was a little confused about the setup. You walk up to the register, make your order, pay, and then have a seat and the cashier will bring out your drinks, chips and salsa, etc. I tried out the Chilaquiles Verdes, a Sope with no meat, 2 Tacos de Lengua, and a agua de Jamica. My total was $ 20. Fairly priced! The tortillas for the tacos were a little tough and hard to swallow and I would have liked for the meat to be sliced more evenly and be more tender. The Sope was okay. No complaints. But the Chilaquiles were a HOMERUN! Very good taste and texture! You could really taste the tomatillo sauce and they definitely had a kick to them! Overall, I am pleased. I’m kind of upset I didn’t try their tamales because they’re not advertised anywhere on the menu. I thought that was ironic because of the name lol. They also have a small setup with dulces de leche, guayaba, alfafor so that was a plus!

The food is amazing. The service could be better. And the atmosphere is less than stellar. But the food is amazing! I love the Carne Asada Burrito Suizo Dinner. The tacos are also good. But it’s one of those things where I love the burrito so much, I’m not willing to try other things. There may be something even better that I’m missing out on, but I just can’t pass up the burrito to try them. This hole in the wall Mexican joint will please your taste buds an your wallet!

Stumbled onto this little place because I was starving. Never dreamed in a million years that the food would be so good! Being a vegetarian, they made me a veggie burrito, which is the most delicious burrito I have ever had. The food is fresh and authentically Mexican. I also ordered a Sopes, which was SOooo good. Will definitely be a regular here. I really like to support our local owner operated restaurants and not the drive-thru chains.

It’s disappointing when you go from really liking a place to avoiding it. This past summer, I ordered ahead to pick up dinner. My order included Chicken Tamales and two dinner orders of Chicken Tacos. And, I was pretty psyched to have some Chicken Tacos. I get there 25 minutes later — only to be told that my order was not ready because…(are you ready for it?)… they were out of chicken. Are you kidding me? Why did they not tell me when I placed an order or why didn’t they call me back? Poor customer service. The young lady who told me about their chicken shortage did not even blink. But there is more… I just feel their sauces or seasonings have changed. My opinion is that once they opened up Puerto Vallarta in Mundelein, they are focusing their energy more on that restaurant. So, for that reason, the verdict is out on Tamales Diana. I have no desire going there. Now, Rancho Nuevo and Lomelli’s in Round Lake are my favorite Mexican restaurants.

Picked up an order today. It was delicious! It was one of the combo platers. The steak taco was delicious, cheese enchilada was tasty. The chile reneo was tasty but i could tell the oil was not as fresh, but still it tasted good. I looked around while I was there & everything looked clean. You can always see the kitchen & that looked good too! Staff was helpful & friendly!

Today I decided to give this place a try, I noticed it a few weeks ago while doing laundry nearby and I’ve been wanting to check it out. I do have to say that the little tiny sign they have on the side of the building does not help them any, it’s VERY easy to miss. I went in with a friend to check out the place, walked in and we were greeted by… no one. There was a guy at the end of the room watching a rather loud TV, he looked at us but didn’t move, didn’t say anything, didn’t even smile. He wasn’t eating anything, so I’m guessing he works there. Didn’t hear him call anyone to let anyone know we were there either. We just walked in and sat down in the rather dark dinning room, there was no one there yet, it was 11:15AM. Someone finally comes to take my order, I ask her for some tamales, she lets me know they are out. I came to this place looking for Tamales because you put Tamales in the name of your Restaurant and I’d expect you to have awesome Tamales, so how can you possibly be out of Tamales on a Tuesday at 11:15AM? I decided to go with 1 Chicken Taco, 1 Chorizo Taco and 1 Chicharron Gordita. The lady recommended those because they make the tortilla fresh. The food: The tortillas were indeed home made but I felt like they were a bit under cooked. The chicken tasted pretty good but I did have to take out a ton of cilantro and onion from it because they put just too much in my opinion. The Chorizo was also very good, not too greasy, but once again, way too much cilantro and onions. The Gordita was pretty good, very good size, good amount of Chicharron on there, what I found odd about it is the fact that the Chicharron was actually pretty spicy. I love spicy food but I was just surprised because this is not what I expect to find in a Mexican Restaurant since normally they tone it down quite a bit. The Service: The lady that eventually took care of us was polite enough while taking our order and I believe she was honest when I asked her what’s good, however she did take a while to show up when we first came in and never did she come by to see if everything was ok. At the end of the meal she did come by with the check, I gave her my credit card, she went to process it and came back with the receipt, however she kept hovering over me waiting for me to sign the receipt and calculate the tip, just was uncomfortable. Once I put my receipt away I was going to take my last sip of coke but she had already taken it. Final Thoughts: I didn’t expect this place to be a 5 star place, but I really was hoping it’d at least be a 4 star place. Walking in and seeing someone right away just sitting there watching TV right away made this a 2 star place for me. The fact that the TV was so loud made it a 1 star place. The food was actually good enough that I wanted to still give it 3 stars, however having the lady not check on us once during our meal combined with her hovering waiting for me to sign the receipt made it go right back down to 2 stars.

Just driving through town. Found this place on Unilocal.Inside it’s pretty simple but the food is good. The employees are very nice and courteous. Their English is not as good. It caused some minor mistakes with our order but not enough to really matter. We are very happy we stopped here. We are stuffed and happy!

Had this for take out tonight and it wasn’t so great. We are new to town and gave the place a try in store. The staff was nice even though they spoke little English and the food was okay. I thought my tacos were good so when we were talking about getting food tonight, I suggested this place. The order took over an hour to get out because the kitchen was so disorganized. The food was just ho hum, nothing spectacular so I’m a little disappointed…

Sad Updated Review I feel that I have to update my recent review of this place. I’m a little disappointed that I have to drop them from a 5 star review to a 3 star review but I have legitimate concerns and cause. About a month ago or so I had gone in and placed an order. They completely messed it up. It was a good thing that I checked before I left otherwise we would have been short some of our food. They did make it up with extra tamales so I thought they just had a bad moment. Last week my wife called up to place an order for a couple of chicken taco dinners and a chicken quesadilla. When she arrived they told her that they ran out of chicken. Are you kidding me??? It was about 5:30pm, how can you be out of chicken??? I went with the steak taco and have to say that it was pretty disappointing. Not because I wanted chicken but because the steak was over cooked and small. I’m very disappointed that this happened because I really did like this place before. I think that they may be focusing on their other store but not sure.

Yum yum! I know if I need to get a good Mexican fix, I can literally walk around the corner to this little joint! Last time I came, they were in the middle of an expansion; great to see a locale spot expanding their walls! Their ‘guac’ is really tasty, I tend to order this every time I come. Nothing too complicated, but you know, sometimes the simplest of recipes are the best ones! So I usually go for this, and some good ol’ taco’s with cilantro and onions. I usually go for the steak and the chorizo ones(I have an undying love for chorizo!). They always remember to hand over some slices of lime for me to squeeze on top. YUM! I did try the pork skin taco once; it is pretty interesting! Did not expect it to be spicy though, but don’t get me wrong, I LOVE spicy food! I usually get my food to go so I can’t speak about dine-in service. But I can say that their take-out service is pretty on the ball; I haven’t had to wait too long for my order since I’ve started ordering from here! All in all, very decent food. Not the absolute BEST, but it definitely satisfies my Mexican cravings.

Went here on a Sunday afternoon expecting some standard and quick Mexican cuisine. What did we receive? Standard and quick Mexican cuisine, that’s what. This restaurant isn’t easy on the eyes, but they quickly divert when fresh guacamole is brought to the table. I ordered the carne asada torta and was pleased. I wasn’t overflowing with joy, but very pleased. It was spiced well and was a generous portion. Like I said, I knew what I was coming for. I did, however, find the service to be disappointing on our visit. We were never given silverware or water as a standard. In fact, the silverware never came. They were inundated with takeout orders, and I don’t think I ever saw the cook look up from or move away from his designated area. Many people seemed behind on orders when we walked in because of the takeout pace. For that reason, I’ll give the poor service a nod. If you are looking standard, authentic Mexican food that doesn’t break the bank, I recommend this place. Please, just know what you’re coming for. You won’t be let down.

My-oh-myyyy, that was one delicious and spicy chicken tamale! These are not words you hear me say often. It’s not that I don’t love tamales, cuz believe you me, I do! I think we should use them as currency, and store them at Fort Knox. But I can not recall ever having a chicken tamale that wasn’t dry and flavorless. I typically prefer the red with pork, sometimes beef because that’s where the flavor and texture is at. However, of the two I tried today, the chicken and the pork, I preferred the chicken. The red was a little bland by comparison only. Surprise, surprise! The guacamole is also not to be missed if you are here. It’s incredibly fresh tasting and seems like they use minimal ingredients, and don’t over mix it. Its chock full of red onions and chunky, and made to order, which is how it should be in my opinion. Now, this is not the kind of place you should take a first date, or for a special occasion, because it’s not much to look at inside, kind of a dive, more so from the outside, but if you are a foodie that enjoys DDD with Guy Fieri, this is the kind of place you might wanna check out. I also tried the al pastor tacos and they were very tasty and not at all skimpy, but it’s the tamales that have me intrigued to return and try other items on the menu. If every time is like this visit, I will have found my tamale connection, and maybe a new spot.
