Kut Above Salon & Day Spa

Received a gift certificate for a mini-​facial from my daughter for Christmas. Diane Zubrick was my esthetician (yes, I looked on her business card to figure out how to spell that ;)) My skin is as smooth as a baby’s butt, but more importantly my pores look smaller. She was very pleasant and was gentle with my sensitive skin. I will definitely go again soon and request her. I didn’t even realize there was a salon at that location. Maybe I’ll try a haircut too, the pricing seems very reasonable.

I recently came in for a haircut with Andie, and she was awesome! She was very patient with me, and answered all my questions. She was also friendly and did an excellent job with my haircut! I love that this salon is down the street from me and is very reasonable too ! :)

I had my haircut and colored by Emily. She did a great job. She asked questions, gave suggestions and did what I wanted her to do. Excellent A+++. I have also had a massage at Kut Above with Rodney. Rodney is superior in his skills as a message therapist. Kut Above is a Kut Above other salons

Mackenzie is awesome! She did a kenra smoothing treatment on me and she really made sure to get every stand. Even went back to her to get an ombré style done. (Pics posted) She is super friendly and does a great job. Will b going back! Prices are good too!

This is a great place. A great place for waxing. Very clean, professional, friendly, and great work. Been many times and will be back again.

The girl who did my eyebrow arch smelled like stale cigarettes. If you want to smoke, fine. But for God’s sake, if you’re going to have your hands all over someone’s face WASH THEM when you get back inside.
I had left a message for the store owner about the incident and was supposed to have a credit to my account. I went elsewhere for about 6 months, came back in and… surprise! No idea what I was talking about with the credit. Very disappointing.

I love Kut Above! I have been going here exclusively for years for hair, massages and nails (schellac). The staff is amazing, polite and very accommodating. In the years I have been going here I have never been disappointing in the services I have received. I am planning a move 6 hours away and will even come back every 8 weeks for my hair, I doubt anyone can do the amazing job Kut Above does!

I’ve been going to Kut Above for over a year. I have been extremely satisfied with hair (cut, color, style) and spa services (facial, pedicure, waxing, and massage). They are reasonably priced and customer service driven.

I am new to the area and decided to try this place out after reading all of the reviews. I had a great time there, very good customer service skills. I had my hair blow dried and then another time I had a spa pedicure. Their prices are reasonable/​they have good deals and my hair turned out great (I have difficult hair).

I have had good massages at Kut Above before, but Tasha was AMAZING! If you are an athlete Tasha is your girl to go to! I had ran a marathon yesterday and Tasha was completely aware of what I needed. She even worked my IT band! She is awesome!

Casual atmosphere, friendly staff, locally owned and good prices/​deals.

I have been coming to this salon to get my hair cut for about 5 years now. I ask for Leah every time. She is such a wonderful person and always does an amazing job with my hair. I’ve had bad experiences with hair cuts in the past, but luckily I have found the person that I absolutely trust!

A Kut Above had some good reviews, so i made an appointment and was overwhlemed with how great I felt when I left. They completely took care of me! I just moved to Indiana from California. It’s always scary trusting your hair, skin and nails to a new stylist, I’m glad I tried them. Yadira is awesome!

I went here with my bridesmaids and flower girl for updo’s for my wedding. The staff was super friendly. The space though was old, cluttered, and not so clean.
Our hair turned out ok. I thought it was weird that we were charged the same amount for all the styles considering the adults had long thick hair and the 5 year old flower girl had a chin length bob. My maid of honor was the one who booked the appointment and said she was told for a child it would be around $ 20 – 25 dollars. When it came time to pay they said that must’ve been a mistake because ‘anytime they touch a curling iron to someone’s hair it’s the same price’. I thought that was crazy considering they spent very little time on her, less than half the time it took to do the other styles.
I wouldn’t recommend getting make up done here. I had to go pick up lip gloss from target when I left because the only color for lips they had to offer was fuchsia pink.
All in all, it wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t spectacular either. I felt I paid a lot for what I got. The staff was very nice but the price just didn’t seem in line with the skill level and product. I’ve gone to more upscale salons that had very comperable pricing and felt I got a more professional service.

If you have a car and can get there from Chicago, give it a try. Their rates are INCREDIBLY reasonable ($ 24.50−27.50 for a basic women’s cut), the staff is friendly and wonderful, and the salon is great. The layout is really wonderful, especially if you don’t like to be in the middle of a super-​active/​busy place — each stylist has their own semi-​private booth with sink, dryer, etc., so there’s no having to get up and down and it’s a little more quiet and relaxing.
They got me in with almost no notices. My cut with Jenn was FABULOUS — just what I wanted and she was great about working with me through each step to be sure I was happy and showing me exactly what she was doing as she styled my hair. She also gave me great advice about highlights if I’d like to try it in the future. And she was very understanding about my physical disabilities and work-​arounds for styling.
Plus, all new clients get a huge stack of coupons for future use in the salon or spa (haven’t tried the spa yet, but hope to soon). Really, I’m so happy. No pretentiousness, no parking problems, no outrageous prices, and professional service. It takes about 30 minutes to get there from the south side of Chicago on ⁹⁰⁄₉₄ outside of rush hours and it’s very easy to find. There is no reason not to give it a shot if you can get there.
