Flashback Arcade

After looking for some old school entertainment, my husband and I found ourselves at Flashback. When you walk in the first set of doors there is a small window where you pay a fee to go in and play ($ 10) all the games are set to free play, except pool and air hockey. That made sense to us, and after trying to peek through the pay window, we decided to go ahead and give it a try. Most of the games were pinball machines. And there is only one skee ball machine. I was disappointed to not see any basketball games (like the kind where you shoot the ball) or whack a mole or things of that sort. The place did have a good selection of games though. But, we were disappointed since our main reason for going was to check it out and see if it would be a place to bring our 3 year old daughter… That is a definite NO! The music was VERY loud and mostly angry rock was playing.

The best part of this arcade is the cheapish price of entry. Most of the games have poorly calibrated controls, or nonfunctional buttons. I’m all for nostalgia, but I would like it to be well maintained nostalgia.

Flashback Arcade is an awesome destination for anyone looking for cheap classic arcade entertainment in the Murfreesboro area. The space is extremely clean with a reminiscent 80s arcade style setting including black lights and space themed neon carpet. The business model is a $ 10 entry fee for all day access to any arcade game and pinball machine. You will also be given a ticket so you can leave for a while and come back later at any time of the day. If you want to spend a little extra there is a display counter with various things for sale and a nice billiards table in the back that costs $ 1 to play. The floor is well air conditioned and the attendant is very approachable and knowledgeable about the games.
The arcade’s owner restores these games and a majority, if not all, of the machines here are a result of his amazing work. You will not find many other places with dozens among dozens of such clean and well-​kept games. Flashback is a jewel in the rough and persues an industry that has long been carried away by the winds of the past. Come get your arcade and pinball action on at a very affordable price!
