Lots of options. Yummy! They offer cute little candies that you don’t find at other candy or chocolate places.

Definitely a place to splurge and splurge for your sweet tooth. They make their own sugar or sugar free(really biochemically turns to sugar anyways) chocolate goods and buy from specialty businesses for their other products like sour candies(personal lifelong addiction) Since they are local, they taste more fresh than sees candies and that my friend makes them better! They have all kinds of chews and nut chocolates, etc upon etc. I loved their dark chocolate nuts, Rocky road fudges, toffees, sour Santas, and get this– grapefruit sours(oohhhhhh yeaaahhhhh) I’ve got a craving to go back there after writing this review a few days after I finished the pound of candies I bought: D Check out the beautiful pics!

Quite disappointed in Nelson’s Candies in Murphys. Decided to purchase 13 ounces of candy. There were apparently two ways to receive this candy, one in a box and one in a bag. I didn’t realize that there would be something like an $ 8 difference in the price for the box. I paid over $ 24 for the soft centers selection. I believe that their signage is purposely deceiving. I asked about the difference in posted price and was shown where that amount was quoted. Further down the list was, I assume, the price for the bag. The candy was certainly not anything to write home about. I guess we are spoiled by See’s. I won’t be purchasing candy from this establishment again. My mistake!

Nelson’s definitely has the charm of a small candy shop. There aren’t any major brands, but they have all these candies behind glass and old time containers. The cherry sours I got were great, but the price was a little high. In addition, the salt water taffy came packaged together for one lump sum — if they had a mix n match system, I’d love it a lot more.

If you have a sweet tooth stop by! I believe they are serving in 3 locations in Calaveras County. I like the salted Carmel truffles they are dank. The kids like the sour gummy and so forth. A must stop if you like quality chocolate with great wine :).

Nelson’s is good, locally made candies. The chocolates are nothing to sweep you off your feet, but for a small town to have such a delight is really nice. The window displays are always creative and fun. The customer service is attentive and pleasantly warm too. Overall I’d give Nelson’s a 8 out of 10. Definitely worth stopping in and grabbing a quick treat.

The rating is for the whole store experience, not just for the candy. I loved the old fashioned feel of the store, and the fact that the candy is made locally(in nearby Columbia). Who makes hard candy locally anymore?! The staff was really friendly, and offered samples too(take ‘em up on it). They’re using Guittard chocolate and California nuts and fruits(not sure if that’s for all of their goods or not). I especially liked the fruit jelly candy, and the rocky road. Definitely a fun stop in Murphys.

This store is super cute and they have a huge selection of candies!!! You could seriously get lost in there. I just wasn’t crazy about anything I chose. I would definitely go back next time I’m in Murphys and try again because there really is so much to choose from!

I was walking by on saturday along that main street. Suddenly my daughter and husband went inside. To my surprise, the candy store is very nice and look very upscale, nice wood counter. Their lollipoes is amazingly pretty. I uploaded 2 photos to share with you Unilocaler. I ask«where is candy» made. Apparently, they are all local made(columbia town). I am very impressed, and go to that candy store twice(2 different days). Hightly recommend to buy back some of those candies as gift(since I go camping in that area).

Loved the ROCKYROAD. The young lady was friendly and when I asked for a sample of the rocky road she gave me a good piece. I appreciated that. I tried a couple of other things, which I thought were just ok. I wasn’t crazy about the dark chocolate, I’ve had much better. dark chocolate covered coconut piece — ok caramel chocolate bar — ok

I bought the whipping cream fudge without walnuts here. :-) Sad I didn’t try other stuff. It all looked SO good. Adorable shop! If I’m ever in Murphy again, I would come back for sure. Two older women were working the counter when I went. One came off as a bit grouchy and was weird when my friend asked a question about the hard candies, hence why I took off one star.

I’ve been going to Nelson’s since I was a little kid, and I love that I get to bring my kids here as well. A classic old-fashioned style candy shop, they have a wide variety of items. My favorites are the dark-chocolate honeycomb and the dark or milk chocolate bark. There are various kinds of fudge, and they are wonderful.

OHMYGOD, COCONUTBRITTLE. So freaking good!!! Don’t miss this store. It’s chock full of hand-crafted treats in all shapes & sizes. You can probably tell I would recommend the brittle…

Was back again Friday. They have the best sugar free chocolates I have ever tasted. Wish they were closer. They even have a special going on. Buy 20.00 worth and you get a free gift. But the best part is you get the best chocolate you will ever eat. Thumbs up here.

I have such a sweet tooth. Cake, pie, pastries, ice cream and candy, I love it all. One of my favorite places in the world is a candy store. There is something so magical about a candy store. Whenever I enter one, I feel like a little girl entering the world of Willie Wonka, minus a golden ticket. I feel so fortunate to have a wonderful candy store that I love to frequent. There are so many wonderful goodies in Nelson’s. They make their own chocolates and many other candy treats. I love the gummi candies like Swedish Fish and Coca Cola bottles. Another favorite is the milk chocolate turtles. I mean, how can you go wrong with milk chocolate, pecans and caramel? Whenever I am in the area, I try to make a point of visiting Nelson’s to satisfy my sweet tooth. Love them!

An Ol’ Tyme Candy Shoppe definetly! Jars of hard candies, shelves of pre-packed handmade candies. Homemade brittles — peanut, macadamia nut and coconut! YUM on the Coconut, I didn’t have any left to bring home after this weekend. A counter of chocolate dipped candies — almonds, raisens, macadamia nuts in white or milk. Peppermint Chews — hard to find — it starts off as a hard peppermint candy then as your mouth warms it up it becomes chewy(not something my dentist would like to read, especially after a root canal last month — but SO worth it!) Oh FUDGE! Yum, delisious creamy fudge! Traditional fudge with nuts was so creamy, smooth and the perfect tender walnuts. But my new love is Peanut butter fudge — Oh Happy Day! I never had it before and it was divine! I wanted to tell DH that he wouldn’t like it but I almost squeeled in delight as I tasted it. There is also Divinity, and I did get a sample of it because I never had it before and ya know what — I wasn’t missing out on much. Some of the ladies in the shop say they LOVE it but it’s not my cup a tea. Super friendly staff and such an asset to this Main Street in Murphys.

Wow and yum! Nuf’ said? Almost. The handmade candies here are totally amazing. We had some jellies cubes in a few different flavors and they were all delicious and none too sweet like the homemade ones can be. I also had rocky road — d’lish! And also so chocolate covered almonds which were even more yummy after they re-melted in the car and hardened up again. I will definitely come back here on my next visit to Murphys– and everyone thereafter.

A walk through Nelson’s is like a brief glimpse of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory offerings… they have jars full of all of your standard current day candies in the back, homemade fudge to gawk at and truffles to drool over in side cases, but the real treats are in the front– pecan logs($ 3.95) are devilshly tempting maple nougat centers coated in caramel and rolled into big pecan chunks. The peanut and coconut brittles are also not to miss– the chocolate covered bags(¼ lb $ 4.95) was simply delectable and was devoured by our group before we even got into the car! No golden ticket required to go into this sweets gem, and its well worth the visit!
