I took the family ice skating, it was our first visit in many years. The facility and staff are just fine, we enjoyed the experience. There were, however, three«hot shot» skaters who zoomed around the ice way too fast for conditions(most ice skaters were younger or novice, like us). I complained to the staff about them but they didn’t talk to them. After the skating session ended I found out why, one of the three was friends with the staff members, he went behind the counter and chatted with them as we returned our skates.

While I still have feeling in my hip, I’m going to say this is a fun experience. It’s a relatively new facility, and although it lacks the character and scope of say, the old Gallivan ice skating facility, or event the old outdoor Murray Park facility, it certainly makes up for it in efficiency. Cottonwood Heights is probably my favorite, and the Kearns Olympic one is pretty darn impressive. That leaves this space to be perfectly serviceable. The folks are nice, there are plenty of good skates, and at least right now, they’re in good shape. Too good, perhaps. I’m used to the terribly old rentals. So tonight when I got a bran new pair of ice skates at the rental counter, I was ill-equipped to handle the harshness of the toe pick and I promptly bit it hard, twice. My hip though. There’s not a ton of seating to watch hockey games, but enough. Also inside, not much space, but enough benches. There’s also a party room should you want to rent it for an ice skating party, as the family there tonight did. So many crock pots in that little fish tank of a room. Be sure to check their schedules for open skate times. They have closed times for lessons, hockey, etc. Currently it’s only $ 4 for a skate, and another $ 2 for skate rental.

One of my favorite rinks! Great place to watch hockey! The stands are comfortable and not too cold. It’s always clean and the concessions are nice, as well.
