Temecula Valley Neurosurgery

I was in search of a neurosurgeon, because I’d been told my 13 mm herniation was not your «garden variety herniation», and surgery was probably my only option to get out of the horrible sciatic pain I was in. I researched neurosurgeons, and asked many doctors and medical professionals about Dr. Abshire. ALL of the doctors I spoke to said that Dr. Abshire was the only Dr. they’d let operate on their back! I called his office, and they got me an appt for the very next day! I did not wait in the office very long, in room maybe 25 minutes. Small price to pay for this Dr. He went over the MRI with me, gave me options, pros and cons, HIS personal data on success rates (very impressive) and gave me time to think about the surgery. Within a month, he performed a microdiskectomy at Inland Valley. His surgical scheduler was also awesome, forgot to mention that. I was nervous going into the surgery, but his presence calmed me, and I knew I was in great hands. He had an amazing bedside manner both pre and post op. After waking up, I walked about 10 steps to the bathroom within 2 hours. A few hours later, I was walking the hallways. Unbelievable! I also did not have the sciatic pain, it was amazing to walk without that horrible pain bolting down your leg. Also, while I was recovering, a PT told me that people fly from all over to come to Dr. Abshire, because he’s that good. Again I felt so blessed that he was my surgeon. I’m 10 days post op and I feel stronger every day. I have to remind myself to take it easy because I’m feeling so good! I’m forever thankful that I met Dr. Abshire, and how he’s changed my life and my family’s life as well. I know I’ll be back to my old self very soon.

Horrible wait times. I can’t even think of any positives after waiting 2 hours TWO DIFFERENT TIMES to be seen by the doctor. Horrible and unacceptable. I will be choosing a new doctor after my last visit. If you HAVE to go there choose his first appt of the day – then perhaps you will get seen on time. Also in order to even get an appt I have to wait about a month.

Dr. Abshire is GREAT! I have been seeing him since 2008 and had a spinal fusion performed. Although Dr’ Abshire’s office is obviously not at the hospital where my surgery was performed, he dropped by very often (as I was an in-​patient for almost a week). I really couldn’t be more pleased of his professionalism & medical performance.
Away from the treatment realm, there are a couple issues that is no secret: appointments are always weeks into the future and not once are appointments on-​time. I always arrive early to each visit and yet still wait 45 – 60 minutes after my scheduled appointment time, plus another 20 – 30 minutes in the patient room ~ yes, one & a half hours waiting before I’m actually seen. Like I said, great Dr — he knows what he’s doing, but the convenience of appointments and appointment wait time are the downfalls.
