I was told this was a great place to eat while I was in town, service was good but the food was cold.

I’m a little biased, mostly due to the fact I’ve grown up eating here. This is comfort food for me. My wife doesn’t care for the place, so I don’t get to eat here often. This location has the famous/infamous«white dip.» You either love it or hate it. I fall into the former group. Mix it with the red sauce to make a delicious concoction.

We were seated immediately upon entering the building. That was the only positive thing about this meal. They brought out chips and salsa and some kind of crapy ranch dip. They no longer serve queso with the Chips. It is ranch dressing with blue cheese and chopped olives, they say. All we could tell was that it was ranch dressing. Who eats plain tortilla chips and plain ranch dressing? I ordered some tacos. They were incredible dry. The shells had been fried along with the meat. This made the meat dry and crunchy/crumbly. I definitely won’t be spending my money here again. I don’t like Taco Bell, but I could have gotten a much better meal there than I did here. I do not recommend others to eat here.

After MANY bad experiences with this location we came back one more time on a busy Sunday afternoon and received very good service. The food was good and they had even added a relish plate with tortillas which was something I hadn’t ever seen before. Good improvements.

Gave me the totally wrong order. Didn’t try to make it right and give me what I ordered. All they said was we will take it off your bill so I just sat there hungry and the waitress disappeared. Customer service is crap!!!

It’s not supposed to be an authentic Mexican restaurant, it’s Tex Mex. I love El Chico, but I don’t like authentic Mexican. They have the best chips and dip. There’s plenty of real Mexican restaurants in Muskogee… El Charro, Chilango’s, there’s one in the mall, and Chavas. The service isn’t always the best, but I’ll always be a fan.

I have to disagree with a previous poster who called it «not real Mexican food». Having been to Mexico more than a few times, I felt like it came close. I was pleased with the food here. It was closer to authentic than most other places I’ve been to in the US, and the staff was really nice. Our drinks were always filled, our food hot and good, and we didn’t have to wait long for anything. I would definitely go back if I ever was in town again.

This is your typical Tex –Mex, not good, if your looking for Mexican food. Though we do eat there on occasion due to friends who really like it and their company. We have found ways to eat reasonable here, by ordering a cup of tortilla soup $ 4.99 and the relish tray for free along with the complimentary chips and dip. Family of four eating like this can get out for $ 25.00. But save your money and go across the street to El Charro’s instead!

If a «real» Mexican restaurant moved into Muskogee, this place would close down quick. Many people who don’t know what good Mexican food is will consider this good food. «NOT» ! — take a ride to El Paso instead, it will be worth the drive. Save yourself from spending your hard earned money on bad chain Mexican food.
