This hotel is a old hotel. It had plaster falling off the ceiling. Our room 202 had wet carpet from rain coming in from balcony doors and air conditioning unit leaking. I saw a roach on the wall. The bathroom had mold on the wall. This is not a good hotel

This hotel needs improvement with customer service. Had to ask for clean glasses. Room was cleaned but housekeeping left dirty glasses in room for two days. Chlorine smell in lobby all the time. Not ever going to be my first choice for a place stay where there are other hotels close by with similar pricing.

Stayed here because it was next door to the venue The Boathouse. we were going to the LOCASH concert. It’s very worn. Still have construction going on. It is a conference center so it caters to the business crowd.

The hotel may have been nice 20 years ago but is in need of major renovations everywhere except the lobby. Rooms are dingy and carpet is pulling away from the floor and the trim is pulled off the walls. Bad service from staff who some us up at 8:30am banging on the door for room service and would not go away until we went into the hallway and declined room service for the day. Front desk lady came in with a ratty tank top on and made us wait while she went in the back to put on her stained hotel shirt. Very unprofessional staff.

Looks are deceiving and thats what happened when we booked our 2 nights here after viewing the internet photos. Without a doubt this place was not what I thought it would be! The room was absolutely dated, old, dirty with musk & mold smell. I am an elite choice privilege member and so I am not used to this, you can imagine how distraught my wife and he kids were when we walked into this dump. Choice Hotels are very good this unfortunatly give the Choice brand a Black Eye. My son coughed all night because of the mold & mildew. There was chipped paint and water leak markings on the ceiling! There was a crack in the bathroom right at the toilet. We asked for a new room because the first one had dead bugs on the floor and the strong smell of mold and mildew made my wife and daughter sick. The second room still smelled like mildew and mold but it was not as strong. The room was very disgusting. The mattress on the bed was very hard and horrible. The rugs were so dirty that we never took our shoes off. My wife put a towel insidet he bathtub becuase it was horrible we just didn’t want to step into it barefoot. There was one one working ice machine in the whole place. We stayed on the 4th floor and the ice machine was on the 3rd. The fitness machine only had 5 machines and 2 of them were broken. Oddly enough the lobby looked ok. It was very inviting & the pool looked somewhat ok. You can tell that at one time this was a very nice place, what a shame and embarassement for Choice Hotel. For the amount of money I spent and knowing the reputation Choice has, I was very angry. Angry for being misled and for bringing my family to this dump. I wouldn’t stay here again even if it was free.

Continental breakfast and indoor/outdoor pool were nice. All the rooms have a small balcony and we had a fridge and coffee maker(but no microwave). However, this hotel has no AC in the carpeted hallways which makes everywhere very muggy, including the guest rooms regardless of the AC unit running in the room. When we asked the housekeeper if all the rooms were damp she recommended we buy our own air freshener(not sure how that rectifies dampness). Then we complained to the front desk and were told to call in an hour to see if any other rooms were available but there weren’t and we figured they would all be the same anyway.

I like how easy it is to get to the hotel, yet is feels out of the way in a warehouse district. Overall appearance is nice and the staff was friendly. The room could be updated, but it was as expected and we were very happy. The continental breakfast was a nice surprise as they actually had great food. We would stay there again with no issues. Someone mentioned horrible wifi in one of the reviews so this may have been upgraded since then. I connected from my phone and tablet. There were probably about 6 choices and the one I picked was full wifi and it was blazing fast.

It was OK. I reserved a king and a double, upon checkin they didn’t have a king, only 2 doubles, so that was a hint right there. The shower in the room didn’t drain well, so I may as well had taken a bath because I was standing in a pool of water(just not hygienic at all). The rooms aren’t really updated either. When I went to switch rooms the next day, I was told to come back in a few hours… alright. So I come back and the lady at the desk snaps at me, so I had to put an immediate stop to all the attitude she was giving me. They did have a decent continental breakfast, but then there wasn’t any food available until 4. Luckily it was right at the highways so I could get to food easily. Overall, it really wasn’t the best experience in the least, but it served it’s purpose.

We stayed at the Clarion while golfing in Myrtle Beach. It is an older property but is in pretty good shape. The lobby and common areas are very nicely done. They have an on site restaurant and bar and indoor/outdoor pools. The rooms facing the intracoastal waterway have nice views and small balconies. My room was nice sized and very clean. No complaints at all. The AC worked well but, the room did feel a little damp. The staff was friendly, helpful and efficient. I hope that the area around the hotel rebounds. It is near the defunct Hard Rock theme park and the nearly abandoned Waccamaw factory outlet center. The free breakfast was a bit better than expected and included eggs coked to order. Check out the Boathouse Bar and Grill next door for some great wings.
