First time coming here while visiting Myrtle, and I’ll make this a must for next visit. The staff make you feel right at home and the food is to die for.

Good southern food… could stand to have a Lil more on the buffet though. It actually turned out to be better than I expected.

Really good buffet, friendly people. They have a thing where the staff will sing(!) occasionally as you eat, and they’re always really good. lol I really liked this place. They give discounts to locals on a certain nights(maybe it was Wednesday?), which screwed us because we aren’t locals, but no real complaints here. The food is really excellent for home-cooked southern food. Make sure to get the sweet potatoes!

First time here, we came to myrtle for some shopping and stuff but wanted some food. Saw this place on Unilocal and it really is a great buffet place. It looks like it can get very busy, we came in and a line was forming behind us. The lady gave us a locals discount on drinks and we set off. It’s a buffet. It’s not huge but there’s a lot on the buffet it’s kinda like a small Golden Corral type deal. The food is great tho. Southern cooking like I remember. Great bbq, the vinegar kind was awesome and good fried chicken. Just a country type feel and great food. Only 7 for each of us for lunch so worth it too.

Best thing about this place is price. Everything was just okay, not impressed, below average. Definitely not what I expected based on the Unilocal reviews.

I’m on the fence regarding this place. The price is good. Some items were made very well but some others are pretty bad. Best thing about this place is Issac. High energy, friendly, and a real people person. Also the cornbread and scallop potatoes were fairly good. Worst thing is the fried chicken. Soggy, oily with an unpleasant after taste. The ribs were also cold and dry even though it’s fatty. Also has a bit of a strange aftertaste. I was hoping that there are at least one smoked dish because of the name but there were none.

Went here for Thanksgiving dinner and was not disappointed. Great authentic Southern home cooking. From cheesy, homemade Mac n Cheese to the collard greens it was Simply Southern deliciousness! Included were deep fried turkey,(absolutely awsome), smoked turkey, sweet ham, smoked pork, bbq pork, fried chicken, chicken bog, rice, chicken n dumplings, mashed potatoes, sweet potato soufflé, green beans, corn, 2 types of gravy, etc… biscuits too. Had deserts too. Pecan pie, pumpkin pie, banana pudding, Apple cobbler, peach cobbler, ice cream, and more. The seating was a little confusing, but it was busy. They took reservations up till the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, but we had none, and were seated in 30 minutes from 3pm. Clean place too. Isaac, the lead busboy, cleaned with enthusiasm and provided ENTERTAINMENT! Isaac and another busboy sang an acupella version of Amazing Grace that touched the souls of all present. An amazing Thanksgiving it was.

Manners, manners, manners, hospitality, great service, great food, and an unreal sense of giving the community what it wants. What amazing little spot. A gem. A diamond in the rough. To make it possible to feel as if you’ve walked into your own home, to feel as welcome, as accommodating as your grandmother is. They take care of you, feed you and comfort you .

My first time trying Southern food and I loved it! not as heavy as i expected. The fried chicken, pulled pork, sweet potatoes, and peach cobbler were my favorite. Everything tasted fresh and made from scratch. The owner came to say hi to us and everyone was super friendly.

We got to myrtle beach and this was our first stop for lunch. We were there about 20 minutes after opening. Reviews and the outside of the restaurant looked promising but the food was a let down. The buffet didn’t look very appetizing and a lot of the food was cold which was odd to us because they had just opened. Vegetables were overcooked and the guy behind the counter was chomping away at some food. The bus boys were very nice and are the single reason this will get 2 stars from us. Price is great but you get what you pay for.

This will be a stop we make every time we are in the area. Well worth the price. There was a line, so go early or expect to wait for dinner. All of the food was hot, fresh and good quality. There was not a single dish that wasn’t enjoyable. Every once in a while, one of the bussers breaks out into song. Before long the whole building joins in. Really neat. He and another busser also make balloon animals for the kids. Nice family-orientated place.

I don’t normally eat at «Southern» restaurants because I can get these same meals at home or my Mom’s house.(And nine times out of ten, it tastes better.) So, when my baby sister suggested we try this southern food restaurant which was a buffet(which is another no-no for me,) I was against it. I’m so glad I changed my mind. When you drive up, the outside doesn’t look like a typical buffet style restaurant. It’s almost like you’re walking up to your grandmother’s house. It has a porch with a table outside. There were even folks sitting down just talking. When we walked in, the cashier asked us what we wanted to eat, rang us up and then explained where everything was. Let me just say that I already liked this place and I hadn’t even fixed my plate yet. There were two separate buffets. The primary buffet had all the hot foods. There was a separate buffet with cold foods(some desserts and cold salads.) The primary buffet wasn’t massive — which is a plus. I can’t deal with so many choices. But it was just enough. There were plenty of sides and main choices for everyone to choose something different. There were four of us and here are some of the different things we chose: fried chicken, collard greens, vinegar pulled pork, mashed potatoes, biscuits, corn bread and mashed potatoes. I had rice, field peas, smoked sausage and cheesy potatoes with bacon *soooo good*, sweet potato soufflé and peach cobbler. I absolutely loved everything on my plate. I had to add salt to my field peas, but that’s not a deal breaker. I would prefer to add salt then for it to be already too salty. The sweet potato soufflé …omg … I just wish I could have taken a to-go plate. Our waiter was very nice, not hovering but kept an eye on us; he even offered to sing. We didn’t take him up on it, but my sister said he sang at one of her previous visits and was very good. I would definitely make another visit to Simply Southern. I liked everything about my visit. I think they have the potential to be very busy for dinner because the food is so good. We went in the afternoon around 3ish, so there wasn’t a crowd.

I need more stars — 5 is not enough! From delicious Southern food to super friendly employees, this restaurant was wonderful! In this relaxed atmosphere, you are comfy & at home so you don’t mind sucking the BBQ sauce off of your fingers over & over!!! One thing I couldn’t wait to try is the homemade sweet tea & it did not disappoint — PERFECTION!!! I ate a little of all of these: ribs, fried chicken, greens, mac & cheese, pickled okra, fried fatback, potato salad, sweet tea & peach cobbler. OMG!!! My family & I are breaking a vacation rule & going back for a 2nd meal before we head home to NJ. ~ Raquel

As a New Jerseyan, I have not been able to locate great southern and soul food. When I went to Myrtle Beach last year, I tried a few southern and calabash spots, but it wasn’t until I found Simply Southern that I finally found what I was looking for. All you can eat fried chicken, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, and peach cobbler. I felt like I was in food heaven, but the real surprise treat was listening to the rich and powerful voice of Isaac Collington who sang during our meal. Not only is Isaac an amazingly talented buser, but he is a genuinely kind-hearted and humble human being who cares for others who are in need. It was a pleasure and honor to meet him. I simply love this restaurant as their food is simply incredible! You must go here if you are in Myrtle Beach!

Very friendly staff who really makes you feel at home. The food was all very good! The only thing I didn’t like was the pulled pork because it was just soggy as if it had been sitting in water and there wasn’t a lot of flavor to it without the BBQ sauce. I loved the fried chicken, corn bread, mashed potatoes, collards, puddings, and peach cobbler. The restaurant appeared clean, but the floors are really sticky. Made wearing flip-flops a bit difficult.

What a treasure just off the beaten path in Myrtle Beach. It’s only a mile or two from the boardwalk and definitely worth the trip. We tried almost everything on the buffet and devoured it all. It’s just like a Sunday dinner at grandma’s house: chicken(both fried and broiled, as well as chicken-n-dumplins), real mashed potatoes with just the right amount of skins, baby back ribs, mac & cheese… the list of southern comfort foods goes on. Of particular note are the peach cobbler, sweet potato soufflé, and of course the BBQ(they offer both plain and vinegar-based)! Come hungry and don’t worry about breaking the bank. It’s a great value. Even the great Trojan warrior had his Achilles heel, and so does Simply Southern have a couple areas of opportunity. First, the coleslaw wasn’t great. I expect top notch coleslaw from a BBQ joint. Next, they have a prepay setup. The cash register is at the beginning of the buffet which creates a bottleneck. I could have done without the unsolicited rendition of «Go Tell It On The Mountain.» Some might find it charming, but I’m not part of that demographic. Finally, there’s a huge wall appliqué above the buffet reading«Simply Southern Smokehouse»… in Comic Sans! This last transgression might be unforgivable. Even with its shortcomings, Simply Southern will be a must-visit restaurant on future trips to the Grand Stand.

This place is sooooo yummy. The best biscuits ever. The best corn bread ever. It tasted just like my mom’s corn bread when she makes it in my great grandma’s passed down cast iron skillet, used for generations. Also had super tender roasted or rotisserie bbq chicken, delicious fried chicken. So many other choices. I’m getting hungry! The employees are great too, with the bussers more than happy to help & bursting out in song for dinner & a show. Great place.

Tons of food options. Good olé Southern BBQ with mom and pops appeal. Fried Chicken, Mac & Cheese, Ribs, are excellent. Price cannot be beat and the busser, Issac, is amazing! He’s friendly, sings, and creates balloon animals for the kids. You gotta check this place out.
