We came since who we were with is a scientist. Figured they’d love the atmosphere of this restaurant — Definitely a fun twist! And so close to the beach too! It was such a nice night when we stopped in, after dinner we walked the 2 blocks over the the beach and took a stroll before heading home. The drinks were great! I got the peach martini, it came steaming(?) or fogging(?) from dry ice, lol. Pretty cute! We ordered the sweet potato app to start! Sweet potato tater tots?! Why doesn’t everyone do that? And it came with this maple bacon dipping sauce, OMG yum! Tater tots were so good we all ordered more with our sandwiches instead of fries. Lol. We all ordered sandwiches. I got the Greek chicken sandwich in the pita. Pretty tasty! Lots of feta! Mmm! Our waitress seemed nice. I feel we didn’t see her much. She took our order, brought the food, and came to refill our water. There wasn’t any chit chat friendly vibe going on.

Enjoyed this restaurant while on vacation a few weeks ago. The service was top notch! Our server and the bartenders were incredibly friendly and very accommodating. I look forward to returning in the future!

Easily the best cocktails I’ve ever had. There is so much love and attention to detail that goes into everything on the menu here. I am definitely going back here every time I visit myrtle beach!

Oh my gosh. This place is the greatest. Awesome craft cocktails. We tried the Mad Scientist, the Flux Capacitor and they were both incredibly fresh and deelish. We started with Tempura Vegetables with a sweet Thai Chili dipping sauce. Awesome. Then I had the Char Siu which is slow roasted pork belly in a Cantonese sauce and that pork belly literally melts in your mouth. My friend had the Shepard’s Pie with lamb and beef and incredible potato es puma on top. Amazing. We ended our meal with Mango Panacotta. Our server was Leah and she was incredibly knowledgeable about the drinks and the food and was very friendly and made us feel welcome. This is perhaps the best dining experience I have had on a beach vacation. If you are in Myrtle Beach you must try it!

Definitely a classy little gastropub in Myrtle! It almost seems as though it belongs in Charleston or Colimbia. The drinks and food are both amazing! Our group had the spring rolls, German pretzel sticks, sheperds pie, lamb chops and bang bang shrimp. Each item was delicious and had a different take on items that you’ve tried elsewhere(i.e. Bang bang shrimp is also sold at Bonefish Grill but the bang bang at The Chemist is tempura fried, so you get a light crispy taste). The cocktails were also yummy! I would definitely go back to this place!

Every single time I come here I have the best food best dessert and best drinks in Myrtle. They never disappoint. A little pricey but if you feel like splurging you should do it here, a very unique eating experience

My fiancé, his sister and her husband all came to the Chemist last night for mothers day dinner. I b was a bit apprehensive for a few reasons(never go out to eat on a holiday the service is never as good and the prices are usually hiked up), but decided to give this place a try. Just an fyi, it might be because we’re from NYC but the sizes are slightly smaller and the prices are a bit high but the food is genuinely worth it. We started with the scallops, beef appetizer and seared ahi tuna. DELICIOUS. I’ve never had such fresh well prepared scallops and the meat was so incredible tender. My brother in law loved the ahi tuna but I like my tuna very rare and seared very briefly whereas this had a little too much time on the stove. For drinks we tried quite a few… haha! Thyme machine, professors punch, gin fusion(my personal fave) Flux capacitor, sixth element, molecular mule(group favorite) and atomic bulliet(another great one). For our main course I ordered the lamb(SOJUICY) my fiancé ordered the pork belly and his sister ordered one of the beef entrees. We all shared and absolutely loved everything. Dessert was«okay». but honestly this place still gets 5 out of 5 stars for its service and overall exceptional meals.

This place is amazing! If you are in myrtle beach and consider yourself a foodie, the chemist is a must, especially if you enjoy science! Being an old chemistry teacher I especially loved this location. The entire theme of the restaurant is thought through perfectly. The waitresses wear labcoats, the tables have periodic table elements on them, the light fixtures look like orbital diagrams, and so many other details. When we arrived we were served water in beakers and most of the drinks come in flasks. My husband had every whiskey drink on the menu and loved them all, especially the bourbon flask. I had the peach martini which was served on dry ice(fantastic) and the molecular mule, which they make their own ginger beer for and it is to die for. We had the lobster bisque which is served in a large beaker along with a lobster containing a pipette full of bisque. We then got the scallops which had lemon citrus foam on top and were placed on a delectable seaweed salad, which I’m not even a seaweed fan so I was surprised by how delicious it was. And last we got the smoked pimento cheese dip which was very smokey in a good way. Everything was an A plus. No joke this is my favorite restaurant ever! I was brought in because I thought the ambiance sounded interesting, but the food, drinks, and service won me over!

We used to live here for 15 years and moved to Charlotte 6 years ago and we come back often and was very pleased to see this type of concept pop up in myrtle. We started off with the duck, flatbread and pimento cheese appetizers. Flatbread and pimento cheeses dip were very good. The duck app was good in taste but the smallest slice of duck with each piece and with the size of the bread and the cheese that was on top of it you could not taste the duck. The piece of duck was way to small for the vehicle that was holding it. Entrées: lamb was very good, we ordered shrimp scampi it was good but a little advice take out the lemon rines before serving. The smoked trout over risotto was nothing to write home about. The trout was dry and overcooked and the risotto was waaaaay over cooked almost like sticky rice. They did take it off the bill which was nice. The specialty cocktails were good. Overall it was average for our 1st time but the concept is really cool.

I enjoy trying new places that have original menus and tasty foods. Never would’ve thought a place like this existed in Myrtle Beach after the few places we already ate and come up on Unilocal. This place belongs in NYC. A def must try for non ‘beach’ food. All of our food was great! Def give this place a try u won’t be disappointed!

Neat concept. Cool atmosphere and great service. We ordered several appetizers to share. They were all delicious. We all ordered different specialty cocktails and tasted each other’s. They were all really tasty. My favorite was The Sixth Element. We will come back for sure. Oh we had absinthe as well. I had never tried it. That was fun!

What a fun concept restaurant. The drink menu is extensive and the food is good. My biggest complaint is how very very loud it was. Oh my gosh the music was deafening. Don’t plan on talking to anyone but enjoy the good food. A definite upgrade to the area.

First time in Myrtle Beach and my wife and I wanted to get a good cocktail and some food. The Chemist definitely caught our eye, as from a quick search on Unilocal it’s really the only bar that has cocktail in its name. Got there around 7:45 and was told it would be at least 45 minutes for a table(with 4 open«reserved») tables just sitting there. Ok, fine. Luckily there were two seats left at the bar so we sit down. Reading though some previous Unilocal reviews I’m pretty excited. The drink menu is a lit up piece of plexi glass, drinks look crazy and fun so I’m excited. 5 – 8 minutes later we finally get asked if we’re ready, so we order. I ordered their version of an Old Fashioned(Luxardo) and boy was I wrong. I’ve had some bad Old Fashions before, but this one has to be in the top 5. When I get it the total volume in the glass is like maybe ½″ and it looks like the majority of it is crushed up cherries(like at least 3 – 4), plus an orange and a splash of whisky. Now I am an Old Fashion snob, just going to put it out there, and I get crushing up fruit and pouring some whisky on it somehow over the course of history has qualified as an Old Fashion, but in this case I just won’t except that. I’m immediately deflated and from that point forward in the night the place looses its edge as I switch to beer. Food: As far as food goes we got a few bar snacks including the flat bread and sliders which were both good. We were sitting at the bar right next to the food window and honestly that little kitchen can push out some food. Everything looked great, molecular gastronomy at its best. Would defiantly go again and try an actual entrée. Service: Overall it seemed fairly well run, it took awhile to get our drink orders or in general attention from any of the waiters or bartender. I think the biggest problem was when the bartender was in the weeds the servers were just standing around. They could have been helping make drinks or at least get beers, waters, etc. I think just a bit of polish in general as far as service and the bar is run would take this place to the next level. Overall The Chemist was a funky little place. If going for dinner call ahead and make reservations so you get a table. Don’t expect too much with the drinks, although they seem like they know what they are doing regarding cocktails they do not. Are they fun looking, yes. Do they taste good, no. Maybe they just need to get a bartender who can just focus on the drinks.

Marissa was our bartender and she was fantastic! She’s also a fellow Jerseyite, not to be biased. But she knew exactly what she was doing, truly embraces the art of mixology when making drinks for the customer. Many different unique drinks to choose from. Very unique atmosphere serving drinks in beakers and utilizing dry ice for effect. Atmosphere was incredible, especially for the science nerds!

Two men walk into a bar. The first one says«I’ll have an H2O.» The second one says«I’ll have an H2O too», and he dies. The Chemist combines lots of elements to create a fabulously kitschy locale for food and drink near the boardwalk. Geeky flare, a la light up menus and coasters, staff donning lab coats, periodic tables(literally, tables. with elements) and beaker glassware perfectly tie together their modern scientific theme. I tried the Mad Scientist draft cocktail and the Molecular Mule and enjoyed both quite a bit! Handcrafted syrups, sodas and ginger beer made in house here. I liked the different twist on a Moscow Mule with lavender-blueberry. Yum! I had the beef dish, as recommended by my waiter. It’s prepped in a sous-vide, which means it will be tender by definition. It came with pineapple, potatoes and carrots that gave different sweet/salty bites to it. The flavors in this were really good, and it was a large portion that could easily be shared by two people along with a smaller plate to start. I had the mango panna cotta for dessert, which is plated to look like bacon and eggs. The panna cotta is topped with a mango gel that you ‘break open’ like you would when you cut into an over easy egg. There is a piece of candied bacon on the side, mine wasn’t fully cooked. I have nothing against sweets with bacon, but was confused on what it was supposed to add and it left a bad taste to an otherwise great experience.

We were told to visit the Chemist by their sister restaurant ArtBurger and Sushi Bar. Chemist opened September 15 and is doing pretty well according to Courtney the GM who spent time quizzing our experience. Britt was out waitress and helped us through our chemistry exam and was a lot of fun dressed in her lab coat. The cocktail menus is pretty amazing. 3 of us had craft cocktails which we all enjoyed. The water glasses were beakers. The menu is clear and backlit The food menu is very unique to say the least. We had 4 different meals consisting of a beef dish similar to a nice Sunday pot roast, a shrimp scampi, shepherds pie and a trout dish that came out under a bell dish. All of the entrees where prepared in a very modern and fun way. We finished with a nitrogen infused truffle dish that was amazing. So what did our group conclude. It was one of the most unique dining experiences any of us have ever had. With that said we all believe the menu choices needs to increase. There were no greens available so no salad. But we all have high hopes that over time fine tuning will keep this as a place to go in Myrtle Beach. They certainly deserve it!

Spectacular new concept from the same gentleman that brought Myrtle Beach Art Burger & Sushi Bar. Great atmosphere, refined down to the smallest detail of décor and presentation. Food was spectacular, and very accommodating of my gluten allergy — they provided numerous gluten free friendly options, and 2⁄3 of the desert choices were GF! We think this is great for Myrtle Beach and wish them the best with success — we’ll be back!

This Chemist is just what Myrtle Beach need’s; a hip, trendy, and stylish restaurant! The Lamb and lobster bisque were very flavorful and both cooked perfectly. The beginning to a great evening.
