Have to agree with the other review. I love a haircut that stands on its own. He will accommodate time, he listens, and cuts with amazing precision. No egos, no pretense, just a great man who is a great stylist!

I almost hesitate to leave this review if only to make sure I can still get an appointment but for my fellow women(and men) I must. Every woman will tell you that finding a good hair dresser is liking striking gold — and you mine that vein for all it’s worth. Carlos is one of those goldmines. I currently drive about 40 minutes every 6– 8 weeks but have lived as far as an hour & fifteen minutes away, still chosing drive the extra miles for a good cut… and I am far from the only one of his clients who does this. I bumped into my next-door neighbor there and found out that she has been going to Carlos for about 5 years… all this time I had no idea. I have been getting my hair cut by Carlos for about 15(or more?) years — since he was working at Rob Rivers. He’s a good guy. Very eager to please his clients. He is also pleasant to speak with and remembers just where we left off in our previous conversations –how he remembers it all I don’t know but he does it. His prices are on par with other salons, but what sets him apart for me is that he actually listens. My hair can be tricky to handle, with multiple textures and cowlicks, and unlike other hair dressers who throw a formulaic cut at it leaving me frustrated and annoyed, Carlos gets it right every time. He’s also great with color. He won’t force a high-maintenance color on someone who doesn’t have the time or money to tend to it. He doesn’t push product on his clients.(He carries Bumble & Bumble). His approach in general is genuine and relaxed. If you’re in the market for your goldmine hair dresser… look no further. By the way he is in Mystic, not Stonington as shown in the address above. His Salon is right across from Dunkin Donuts and just a few doors down from the Sea Swirl.
