As good as Clearwater. It really has white sand, and clear water. You can find all public services here, like free parking, showers and bathroom. We really had good time. The place was perfect for kids, really small waves.

California, Pensacola, Hawaii, Wa. State… been to beaches in all these places and way more, but this is the nicest, cleanest, and most tranquil. Park staff is outstandingly helpful and really go over the top to keep the beach and facilities immaculate. Wow…I need to find a way to move here.

One of the prettiest US beaches I’ve ever seen! We took our 2yo in the first week of October, so it was mid-70s and not crowded at all. Only 7 minutes from our south Nags Head rental cottage. We first went at low tide when the waves and currents were crazy — like pedicure-removing crazy — and the beach was wide and full of shells. We went again at high tide and the waves created fantastic tidal pools that our timid toddler liked to splash in. We’ll definitely keep Coquina in our OBX plans.

Very nice beach. The waves are a good size for kids. There’s easy access with lots of parking. Come in the evening to watch the dolphins and the ghost crabs!

I have been going to this beach for years. I wish it was a secluded location but I enjoy seeing all the families out and enjoying themselves in one of North Carolinas gems. Negative: The pipeline and people not cleaning up after pets. Positive: Easy drive, and beautiful area.

Great beach on the Outer Banks. Nice shower facilities, and rarely crowded.

Great beach for the family. Shallow with less than foot waves. It’ll be an ever better place when they remove the 6ft pipeline tubes lined on the beach.

Coquina Beach, in the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, is considered by locals to be the prettiest beach in the Outer Banks. Tourist attractions range anywhere from on-shore fishing to the wild horses that roam on the beach to people of all ages enjoying a vacation. Coquina beach is also known as a «gay hot» spot not a gay beach but it has gay hot spots. It is listed a surf spot on occasion but usually it doesn’t have high enough waves as they average one foot. When I was there there were no waves at all. But it is worth checking out for it’s seclusion and beauty.
