2016 update: dear surfin spoon, one of the best parts about your yogurt is that it used to be so cold and would stay firm on a short car ride home. This year, it was soup halfway through eating it while there. What happened? Best frozen yogurt in OBX and probably the best I’ve had ever. It doesn’t taste like the typical artificial or flavorless frozen yogurt you get. Plus they have great toppings that are always kept organized and clean. The cherry on top is the friendly staff and cool atmosphere!

We looked this place up on Unilocal and the reviews were spot on! Fantastic! Very friendly staff and the yogurt was great. An impressive selection of toppings. I recommend the cake batter flavor. There are also cute t-shirts, we bought one for our 2 year old daughter. The layout is bright and spacious. Would definitely frequent if we lived nearby. You should check it out if you are in the area, you won’t be disappointed.

This was such a good place! Walked in and assumed the same old frozen yogurt bar. Wrong! This frozen yogurt is awesome! The cray cray coconut is soooo dreamy! And the staff was wonderful — so friendly and helpful. Give it a try!

Very good frozen yogurt store… Fresh toppings– strawberries, raspberries and blueberries along different choc candies, etc. The wait staff was very friendly and struck up small conversations with and everyone that came in. Cute atmosphere and decorations. Would highly recommend for a sweet treat!

Went here today based off the reviews on Unilocal.I didn’t realize it was frozen yogurt only — was hoping for ice cream too. It’s a cute little shack with lots of seating inside and some seating upfront. The setup and décor was very appealing and if you look at the ceiling there’s money and coins in it and they donate it to autism when it falls down. Anyways, there was a good selection of frozen yogurt and toppings. We all got the watermelon sorbet which was very refreshing and tasted more like Italian ice. The owner was very friendly and asked to see how everything was.

My friend and I took a day trip down to the outer banks a little while ago, and we just had to stop here because of the great reviews. We definitely were not disappointed! This place has such a great vibe. There were a lot of really unique flavors to choose from, and the same goes for all of the toppings which were very fresh. We enjoyed our frozen yogurt outside on their little front patio and then went across the street to the beach. We both agreed that if we ever go back to the outer banks, stopping here is a must!

Best froyo we’ve ever had. Super friendly staff, clean beautiful décor. Take time to check out all of the interesting pictures and read the history of the building.

Was expecting to have my mind blown after reading reviews but it didn’t happen. This place is good but not any different than a Menchie’s, Sweet CeCe’s, etc. I liked what I got but I did think the frozen yogurt lacked the creaminess which normally is associated with the typical establishments.

Cannot recommend this place enough! We went during a slow day and had the pleasure of meeting the owners father. He was very proud of his son and the store, and took us on a ‘guided tour’ around the place showing us all of the pictures and item etc. Between the awesome atmosphere, wonderful service, and of course, delicious yogurt, this is the best experience I have ever had at a yogurt shop. They clearly take great pride in this place. Only wish I lived closer! And don’t forget to put money in the ceiling! It goes to a great cause!

Coming from the land of chain frozen yogurt, I was blown away by the quality and atmosphere of this shop on vacation. Variety of flavors, toppings, and seating made this a place I would come again and again. The fruit was fresh and beautiful, other topping options were unique, organized, and well-stocked. And the yogurt itself was the best I’ve ever had! Now that we are back home I’m going to be craving that coconut and salted caramel pretzel combination.

This place is a must! The atmosphere and staff are fantastic. There was ample seating and awesome décor. The fro yo was delicious, and the quality of their toppings is superb. I highly recommend trying the salted caramel pretzel flavor; it was heavenly. In addition, they have great beverages to choose from, including the classic glass bottle sodas.

I’m a local yet somehow had missed this place on NC12 until a rainy day and a craving drove us on the hunt for froyo. The atmosphere as soon as you walk in is friendly, eclectic, and inviting. All the old photos and bright colors were great ambiance. The staff was incredibly helpful and kind, and the peach froyo was amazing. Even the vanilla was great, not grainy like some froyo places have. I loved the money in the ceiling idea that gets donated to a local charity that helps autistic kids learn to surf. However, I am short and my companion is very pregnant, so the employee was kind enough to come help us put our quarters up. A great place for families, friends, or anyone craving quality froyo!

Felt bad going in 30 minutes before close, but the staff didn’t seem to mind. They were really friendly and let us know we could taste any flavor before we started our bowls. There are a ton of toppings too!!! From fruit to cereal. This is the best ice cream place I’ve been to on my trip with my wife. Go here right now!!!

Bottom Line: Good selection of yogurts and toppings, super cute décor and employees that are attentive and friendly. I’ve written nearly 850 Unilocal reviews but it’s a rare day(less that 2% of the time) that I give a business five stars. Surfin’ Spoon earns five stars from me for the following reasons: — We were immediately greeted by an enthusiastic, engaged and friendly employee. — As I studied the flavors looking perplexed the same staff member joyously offered to come give me a sample.(Here they keep the sample cups behind the counter and dispense them for customers.) — There were about ten yogurts to choose from with a good variety. After tasting the cake batter and sea salt caramel pretzel, I went for cake batter.(Some times froyo cake batter is artificial tasting and odd but the one they have here is good.) — The toppings included the the standard fruit and candies but next there was a lovely array of syrups, hot fudge, whip cream, Nutella, marshmallow fluff, etc. I really appreciate all of the offerings in the finishing touches section. — The décor here is very cute. You can tell that a lot of thought was put into the interior and exterior. The front door looks like it was plucked out of a fairly tale and there is a nice variety of eating inside. My yogurt was good, the store is cute but really it’s my experience with the employees here that made this a five star review.

I may have found my favorite frozen yogurt shop ever! The atmosphere is adorable(plus there’s money on the ceiling!), and the staff is so helpful and friendly. I tried the Sea Salt Caramel Pretzel, and I was immediately in love. Never have I had a more perfect cup of froyo.

The staff here is super friendly and genuinely stoked to help customers. The froyo is superb and the toppings are exactly what you look for at a froyo bar. The flavors on tap offer a great mix of classic and outside the box. This is a must for visitors. We’re so glad we came in. Mark is a super friendly dude and quick to say hi and chat up every visitor.

After reading so many whopping… reviews on Unilocal in regards to how amazing this. Local fro-yo places myself and fellow Unilocalers. Kelly C. and her family decided to see what the rage was all about. It is a very fun and lively place… different and homey and pretty self explanatory in regards of what to do a this yogurt bar. A sign above the soup bowl like Styrofoam cups reads Here’s How it. Works. Giving you 4 step directions if you need literal directions lol… I do however appreciate the disclaimer that the yogurt does dispense quickly so be ready. It is. 48 cents per oz. The flavors here are a bit on the generic side but they do off a decent amount of selections… always good for someone like me who is slightly indecisive with more flavor selections. I was amused by the small cartoon signs that list the flavors above the dispensers. I decided on the Offshore orange a vegan sorbet. very nice bright orange color bright flavor. Almost like an orange creamsicle pop. The Keylime Pie… a light mint green almost opaque in color tasted refreshing like liquid pie not that. Weird milky creamy business like most yogurt places. and the Salted Caramel Pretzel a light brown almost coffee with milk colored was creamy and not overly sweet.(personally I could’ve used a bit more of a saltines to it).perhaps they should offer a pinch of sea salt as a topping lol. Toppings Bar… *Now if you have read my reviews before about fro-yo I strongly dislike softserve because I think that the topping selection is limited and weight wise fruit is about 10 cents which is a bit of a copy out with price.(personal gripe) So keeping that in mind the fruit. selection was very fresh. didn’t look like it sat out for the whole day waiting for you to spoon it up. The dry toppings were nicely separated in clear candy like dispensers with spoons for each respective topping. Organized clean. no toppings mixed with others and clearly labeled. It was a nice display to look at oh and did I mention. The toppings weren’t stale(thumbs up). They also offered warm chocolate chip cookies and warm brownies by request. Which I thought was an awesome small detail. Overall our dessert set us back about $ 26 for 5 people. The yogurt is 48 cents an oz. so if you divide that out its about $ 5.30. Which is not bad for 5. Yogurts with toppings. I do agree the quality is better here then at. Sweet frog. The flavor of the yogurt isn’t over yogurt or too sweet it was light and refreshing and not overly creamy. My favorite flavor was the keylime pie because it really surprised me.The. orange was a close second and the sea salted caramel just need a pincer of. Sea salt and it would’ve. been golden. The blueberries and black. Varies that I got were fresh and tangy with a hint of sweetness. So i’ll give it to Unilocalers… This is. Definitely a place to go support the locals. It’s a nice shop with a fresh and casual environment that just happens to have awesome yogurt. Hope this place stays around in the OBX.
