Skippers Seafood & Chowder

We were really anticipating eating good seafood but we’re very disappointed with the potions and the taste of the food presented.
The food is over priced
It was apparent The salt and pepper shakers at the table have not been cleaned in a long time also the condiment service area is also in neglect.
The service staff are very friendly

We’ve eaten at Skippers several times over many years, but this visit was a big disappointment.
Walked in the door and saw a sign saying new management and thought things would be even better than what I was expecting.
I ordered Grilled Salmon, a side of Scallops and clam chowder. The grilled Salmon came with vegetables an coleslaw. The Veggies were scarce, the coleslaw came in a condiment container that could hold maybe 2 tablespoons. My side order of Scallops were 5 scallops the size of marbles.
The clam chowder was as always, delicious. One good thing in an otherwise disappointing meal.

Yummy chowder and all you can eat shrimp. For the price I pay its worth it. Not so much service needed in this establishment. The size of the chowder is pretty tiny though. The rest of the menu is okay. They have parking in the back the ones on the side of the buildings are just handicaps parking. It’s not the greatest chowder but it’s good enough for lunch

Shortly after moving to Idaho in 2012 we spotted the Nampa Skipper’s and dropped in. A quick look around and we dropped out again — quickly before we caught something. You get the idea. That was then and this is now. Under new ownership since early this year, the restaurant closed for several months for a walls out refurb.
Since the reopening we have been there several times. The orders are taken at the counter and the food delivered to the table. The menu board has typical fish and seafood choices, most of it fried. For me and my low salt diet there is grilled salmon and grilled chicken. The grilled flounder at some other locations is missing, but most of the menu items on Skipper’s web site are present. There is a normal choice of non-​alcoholic beverages that is self serve as are any condiments wanted with the order. The staff has been universally friendly and efficient. Food has normally arrived in less than ten minutes after the order is taken. The inside is clean and sparkling. We always feel comfortable there now — unlike before.
The food is as good as fast food will likely get. There is one problem, however, that caused us to knock off one star. When the outer door is opened, we are assailed with the odor of grease with fish overtones. The later in the day and the closer to the counter the more objectionable it is. My wife has a sensitivity to that odor that makes her experience much less than optimal. For me it disappears into the background in a short time.
If frying fish smells don’t bother you or you are ordering take home, this is now a good place to get a quick taste of the ocean.

Chowder used to be better and the fish is okay. The employees act like they don’t want to be there, and last but not least management is rude and doesn’t care to satisfy his customers.

Recently had lunch at Skippers in Nampa Idaho. Had previously visited the restaurant. Was impressed with new new look for the restaurant and the quality of the food. The service of the staff was outstanding. They came by our table on two occasions to ask how the food and service was. I had the clam chowder, salmon and bake potato. All the food was cooked just write and was delicious. I would highly recommend the restaurant.

I was really looking forward to a great order of fish and chips but, for about $ 12, I was disappointed with my order in quantity & quality. The shrimp was okay but small and the fish filet was small, thin, and not very tasty. The fries were just plain fries. The clam chowder wasn’t bad to me but … this is coming from a person who doesn’t eat clam chowder to know how an awesome bowl should taste so I have nothing to compare it too.

I previously gave this place a 1 star but since it was taken over by «new management» we decided to give them another chance. Yes, the restaurant is much cleaner than the previous management and the staff is a more professional crew. We were impressed with the newer décor and the on the spot quality customer service from order to food delivery.
We do recommend this place. Thank you for taking the time to clean up this once great restaurant,
