One of the best bakeries around. Friendly staff. Cheap prices and great baked goods. Highly recommended!

A local favorite! Whenever I’m around the Nanticoke area I always try to stop here if possible. The place is always stuffed to the gills with people so be prepared. But, they always have such a unique assortment of goodies such as cookies, cakes, pies, turnovers, muffins, you name it. Everything from the delicious desserts to the freshly baked bread to the pizza, yes, they have pizza it’s home made! The service is always speddy and with a smile. A dozen of pastries is only $ 8 bucks! The pineapple cake I got was divine, it was warm, moist, had a little bit of a crunch to it, buttery, coconutty. Just plain delicious and highly recommended.

Pros– Cheap … … (scratch scratch) … That’s it. Cons– For some reason people flock to this place. The lines are unbearable during busy hours. — If you arrive at opening time, I have often found two thirds of the product cases empty. I understand how a bakery works, but maybe I don’t want bran muffins or prune danishes if I happen to get there after stated opening hours. — The Lottery. Is this a bakery or a den of vice? Stop screwing with this guy’s Powerball and serve the real customers. — Everything is made out of the same bland fluffy sweet dough. It’s all twisted and injected with different substances, but it’s the same bit of «eh» when it comes to taste. — Bagel Desert. Seldom have I been here when they had either made bagels or made enough bagels. Oh right, they were busy screwing with that sweet dough. — It’s named«Sanitary». — Parking in the adjacent lot requires driving through huge depressions in the asphalt. Not potholes. Ok. Let’s forget about the parking lot. What a jerk, right?! Oooh oooh ooh! Pros– They serve good coffee. — Easter lamb cake. Look. This place would serve better baked goods of they had competition. Maybe things will get better.

The pastries are amazing. I ordered pizza for the first time and did not know it was par baked and cold. It was soggy, there wasn’t enough cheese, and their websites never states it’s cold pizza. Like it was soo cold it hurt my teeth. It was already soggy and unsalvagable so I couldn’t even put it in the oven. Into the garbage went 2 trays.

The best Bakery in Wilkes-Barre area. They made our Wedding Cake back in Sept. 2011(check out pic).

This bakery is amazing. After shopping around for cupcakes and a cake to order and being blown away by the pricing, I stopped into this bakery since it was close to my school and had great reviews on Unilocal. When I went in, the smell of fresh pastries just fills the air. It’s a basic bakery store front where you take a number(if it’s busy) and go from there. I was greeted very politely by the staff and explained that I was in need of the Peanut Butter Mousse Cake I had seen on their website and some cupcakes. They didn’t have the cake in stock when I went in, but I told them I needed it by the next day at 10:30AM and sure enough, it was there waiting for me when I arrived. The cake and the dozen vanilla and chocolate cupcakes I got were only $ 15!!! I was blown away! But, not only did the price blow me away, the TASTE of the PB Mousse cake was TODIEFOR! The cake itself was moist and not overpowering on the PB flavor. The PB icing was also so good, you could just eat it with a spoon. Although it was a basic sized cake, it made roughly 20 servings. The cupcakes were also delicious and simply decorated with some red/pink sprinkles. Everyone loved the cake, including the birthday man. I will definitely stop in again in the morning on the way to class and wait in line for some of the other scrumptious looking goodies you had in the display cases!

I can’t say enough about this bakery and if I could give it more than 5 stars I would. There is nothing like it left. They have upwards of 60 different pastries/breads. The prices are more than reasonable. Entire cakes or 2lb trays of cookies are less than $ 10 and they’re all homemade. The last time I went there I bought 2lbs of cookies, 18 slices of pizza(which is delicious), 6 rolls, and 10 pastries for $ 31. At a local grocery store the cookies alone would have been $ 31 and wouldn’t taste all that great. I’ve tried multiple items here and everything is fresh and delicious. If you’re in the area or even driving by on Interstate 81, it’s more than worth to take a detour and stop by this gem. I only wish there were more bakeries like this. And lastly, each time I’ve been there I’ve spoken with people who come from all over the state to buy their baked goods. I’ve even met people who were sending the baked goods to family members out of state since those family members can’t find anything close to the deliciousness that is the Sanitary Bakery.

Best Bakery in the Northeast hands down!!! Go early this place is always packed. The Bakery goods are super cheap & good. Wed & Fri they make their infamous square cut Pizza that is 60 cents a slice & really yummy snack. When I want good Bakery goods I drive all the way from Pittston to Nanticoke I have no problems with that, it’s worth it. You will love this place.

Be prepared to take a number… the wait is probably the only downside to purchasing baked goods at Sanitary Bakery. Delicious cold pizza and a superior selection of sweets to other bakeries in the area give Sanitary Bakery its competitive advantage. Sweets range from doughnuts to cookies to brownies to pies. Non-sweet favorites include, but are certainly not limited to bagels, pierogies, breads, and cold pizza.

I have tried to find something I dislike about this place but I just haven’t been able to do so yet. I do wish they had a small indoor seating because sometimes you just wanna eat the sweets right there! Aside from that there hasn’t been one item I tried that I disliked on the bakery menu. The cookies are huge, the cupcakes are so fresh and moist, the donuts are the freshest you can get anywhere in this area, the breads are out of this world,(You can apparently also get those shipped to friends and family for holiday presents.) Perhaps the best part of this place is a mix of customer service and price. They are always smiling and willing to serve. The place gets packed at times and they are still in an upbeat mood and they are quick as well. The price is one of the main things that keeps me coming back to here. I was amazed with how much some of the items on the menu cost. There is a lot of items priced for well under a $ 1. So it’s very easy to walk out with a big box of sweets. A bonus is that they are open late. That is more suited to if you place an order in the day and pick it up after work. If you get there too late in the afternoon the selection does go down a bit, but that is to be expected with how busy they can get during the lunch hours. I discovered this place by word of mouth, and glad I did!

A local secret. Great prices, quality baked goods, cakes, and pies. It’s a tradition for my family to get all our holiday treats and bday cakes from Sanitary.
