Hancock Fabrics

I love to be creative whether it be sewing, knitting, or decorating. I plan out my project carefully and then hop in the car excited to get started searching for the perfect fabric or yarn to begin!
When shopping for my project I would love to be taken care of by creative fun people who inspire me along the way. People who take an interest in what I’m doing and can offer helpful suggestions! Or just a smile and bit of a hoorah!
Stepping into Hancock Fabrics is a big hit or miss! I love it when the woman measuring your fabric is so overwhelmed because she is understaffed and at the end of her rope! Asking a question such as where are your linens is met with a blank annoyed stare and a flippant response «over there some where.»
The overall organization of the place is tragic! It is a mess and you get a feeling of dirty drab and unkempt when walking thru the door.
No one is friendly always upset because there is never enough help. And at times can be blatantly rude!
Napa doesn’t offer a lot of fabric store choices. So Hancock’s should be thriving, no?
I have called Hancock headquarters before to complain about the terrible service!
The last time I was in they had a large going out of business sign up! Not surprised at all. The place is even more unorganized if that’s possible! And the girls that work there should not be working with people or at all. They are miserable tired and pissed off. Oh it makes you want to scrap your sewing project and take up gardening! You have to be thick skinned and blind to say this is a great store. I highly suggest you take the extra few miles and day trip it to Santa Rosa as Jo Ann’s fabric is a great place to be taken care of!
No good deals at Hancock’s in my opinion!

Going out of business sale is more expensive than weekly sale in their advertisements.

I love this store almost always has what I need. Workers are always helpful. Sad to see it closing

Ok so I decided at 49 I’m going to learn how to sew and Hancock being the only local fabric store I was stuck because I wanted to stay in town. So I met Katherine and yes she was rude and scared my granddaughters (3&5) but she does her job and now that I’m a regular I don’t think she’s a happy person but still is no excuse for the rudeness. My husband went with me this weekend and said he will never go back after Katherine scolded me for getting in the wrong line and acting as if she never saw me before and mind you I go to the store at least twice a week… So in short we are kind of screwed living in a small town PS Shannon that works there is GREAT though! But it’s hard getting around Katherine she’s always there it’s like she’s that guard dog you hate to pass by

I detest Hancock fabrics everywhere! Today I needed several yards of light blue felt. I went to the vallejo store since its closest to my home. I found the store full of fleece but barely any felt and no felt in the color I needed. So I decided to try the Napa store. I called prior to leaving vallejo and spoke with a rude woman who said they have a couple rolls of it. I told her I’m coming from vallejo where they didn’t have any light blue in stock and she again confirmed they have the light blue in a couple rolls. Well a bunch of miles and 45 minutes later I got to the store where they only has the small squares of the light blue felt. No rolls. The woman with whom I evidently spoke with was not around. The other two sales ladies were nice but didn’t do much to try to help me. In the end I left after having waited to be helped for 15 pointless minutes! I will never go to a Hancock fabrics store ever again! I’ll drive to Joanne’s rather than put up with this crap!

The people checking at this time and dates were extremely rude and dismissive. I will not be going to Hancock for small items in the future I will go to Michael’s

I shop all the time at Napa Hancock Fabric, and Catherine is always such a great help. I always look for her if she goes out of her way to make sure I get everything I need and all questions answered

What a treasure! Incredible prices, great selection and REALLY helpful service! Their knowledge has been invaluable. And I’m a guy trying to learn how to sew…

I really, really want to shop locally to support my community and all, but the folks who work in this store make that goal very hard to acheive! My partner and I went in to look for a few things, which we found. After the woman cut my material I told her thank you and wished her a merry Christmas. No reply. No thank you, no noth’in. My partner told me that they will honor a Joanne’s coupon if you ask, which she did at checkout, and has done on past visits. When I went to check out, I asked if they would honor the Joanne’s coupon I had, to which the grumpy older woman replied quite rudely, «You need the card to get a discount.» Remember, my partner had just used her Joanne’s coupon without issue. When I pointed that out to the woman she said, «Well, I don’t know who did that, but they shouldn’t have. You need the card.» The woman who cut my material chimed in with, «Well, I didn’t do it so don’t look at me.» At this point I had had enough and gave up. She never did say what the card was that I needed. Guess she didn’t care enough that I know, or come back to her store ever again. With the recent addition of a Michaels in Napa, you would think the staff would do everything they could to bring in, and keep, valuable local shoppers. My money will be spent elsewhere.

What a gem to find in this day and age when all the other fabric and sewing supply store have gone out of business. The staff were very knowledgeable and fun to talk to while we were there. I would definitely stop here again when I have more time to explore everything they have to offer
Thanks to the staff for their cheery smiles and help to find the correct thread hooks we needed to pull threads to the back of a black tie event gown. :-)

I agree completely with Rita’s review but add in grumpy and/​or downright rude staff and this is definitely a store to forget.

This place is tucked away in a little shopping center off Imola in Napa. I would have never expected it was there, but low and behold… it is!
I’ve been told, it seems as though they’ve been having a blow-​out sale for quite some time now, and it just keeps going.
I had an oven mitt project I was working on, and upon asking the not-​exactly-​pleasant, fabric-​cutter, register lady which batting would be better and more heat protective, she became really helpful and showed me a insulating batting for that specific purpose.
SUCCESS!
They are well stocked in all kinds of fabrics, and and stitching goods, but not too much else.
A little yarn, a pretty good stock of different hardware, and they even got a few machines.
All in all… I will most defiantly be back.
PS: if you sign up for they’re rewards card, you save a bundle.
I saved 11 dollars on purchasing 5 low-​dollar-​as-​is items. ;)

I frequent Hancock Fabrics in Napa quite often and I don’t think i’ve ever left unsatisfied or put off. In fact, I have often gone to JoAnn’s or some other store, just to find myself heading back to Hancocks. Yes the strip mall that it’s located in is a bit questionable, but who cares, the treasures inside far surpass what the cover of this book reads. The ladies that work there are pretty helpful and I’m pretty sure at least one or two of them have started to recognize me, which is nice.
I look for all types of fabrics from cotton blends, to lace and satin, velvet and fleece and I have always found what i’m looking for in the color i’m looking for at the price i’m looking for. They are always having sales at one point their fleece that is regularly prices $ 7.99/yrd was going for $ 2.49/yard… um hello?! stock up on that! They have tons of ribbons and buttons and also little gifts (I found a great suede clutch for my girlfriend for her birthday for $ 10). All in all this place is great for a sewer, it has tools and needles and pretty much everything you are looking for! KINDA NASTY
Tucked in a aging strip center, this is an aging store. They have a little bit of a little bit, so selection is very limited. It’s not a quilter’s fabric store, more of a general purpose fabric store, and a small store at that, so it spreads itself too thin.
There is absolutely no ambiance. Imagine your basic nasty Joann Fabrics, then shrink it by 75%. Voila… you’re here.
