McCarthy Library would have to be my favorite asset to Napa Valley College. It’s easy to immerse myself into reading and studying. It’s seldom that there are screaming children running around and inconsiderate folks who talk loudly on their cellphones. Plus, there are plenty of tables, study rooms, and computers to choose from. One of my favorite places is the extra quiet study room. I’m highly sensitive to sound. Some sounds that are minor to a few people are intensely noisy to me. For instance, loud keyboard typing and mouse clicking, clocks ticking, repetitive noises, people whispering, heavy breathing, etc. I need everything to be dead quiet otherwise I will lose my mind. On the other hand, there will always be that one or two percent of people who will forget to turn off their phones, but again, it’s very seldom that it happens. For the most part, the librarians are very helpful and friendly and the computers don’t have a time limit! Besides a lot of the students utilizing the computer for social media and gaming instead of productive work, I don’t really have a lot of complaints for this library.
