My Mom and I ate here for lunch today, as it is a very special day for us. My sister Laurie passed away 10 years ago and this was one of her favorites. She turnes 54 today in heaven! We would Iike to thank our waitress Amber and the Chef for great service and great good.

I left, long wait with no one seeming to be be up front then they had the attitude of I was imposing on them when someone finally came up. I left and took my money elsewhere.

We had Mothers Day lunch and the food was very good along with the service. Unfortunately the the dirty table cloth, dusty areas, along with cob webs and smelly filthy carpet overwhelmed the dining experience. We have been going here for many years and is always consistently great comfort food and friendly service but will reconsider going back unless cleanliness standards improve and a renovation is way over due.

Old school Italian. A great place to come with your dog and sit on the shady patio for lunch. Don’t expect haute cuisine or new-fangeled recipes. This is good pasta, salads, and meats. They do have variety. You can get sautéed chicken livers, chicken parmisean, or a shrimp sandwich. You do have to know this is an old restaurant with dated décor and traditional recipes. If you want to see new furniture go to a furniture store. We come here regularly for good food and good service.

OMG, this place is a kick! The best thing to do: happy hour. Generous pours and the hamburgers are the most delicious!!! I love the happy hour menu(except for the fried veggies) foods. Came for a lunch once… lunch/dinner meal was lackluster. The outdoor garden is beautiful… if you want a chill hidden secret old-school style happy hour, come here! I give it four stars for happy hour and hamburgers! Stiff drink and burger… about $ 10. Try that anywhere in Napa!

The grilled chicken in the linguini Alfredo was overcooked. Another dish, chicken cacciatore, was served with a bone-in thigh and drumstick. The chicken parmigian was good.

We(two people) dined with a large group(10 – 12) in the private dining area on a moderately empty night. Our food and service was what you’d expect if the plates were $ 10-$ 12 from a chain restaurant, but instead we shelled out $ 20-$ 25 a plate. First, several of the cocktails were bad, as in all syrup no subtlety. If you get what you pay for, that is not acceptable for an $ 8-$ 10 dollar drink. Second, the food arrived, after a long wait, and was hit and miss. Some of the people at the table enjoyed their meal, but I was sitting near four people who didn’t like their dishes. I’ll just speak to mine. I ordered fried zucchini for an app, and it was acceptable, good, and not memorable. Then came the pasta dishes, the pasta was over cooked or dry, the sauces tasted mostly like oil with little flavor, and the eggplant parmesan was decently good — slathered in cheese — but not worthy the $ 17 price. Third, this restaurant has cobwebs dangling from our lights, little lighting, and an all around«old shabby» vibe. I’ve been a Napa local for several years, and this place doesn’t make the grade. Fourth: service. Our service was slow, forgetful, and not very awe ensuring. While this usually wouldn’t break a meal, combined with all the other factors the place was a bust. Fifth, and finally, as others have mentioned the menu is not«honest.» With so many people having food restrictions, I was bothered to find my «split pea» soup that accompanied the meal had large chunks of pork in it. I couldn’t pay for one of the dishes it was so bad and ended up paying for $ 25 — $ 30 for an appetizer($ 5), the side salad that came with the meal, and the 5 – 10 bites of two entrees we did eat before giving up.

The Olive Tree is very good italian food, consistent, large portions and reasonably priced. When I met the owners, and you probably will if you go to the Olive Tree, I was impressed that these are owners who want to turn a one time customer into a regular — and to me that means a lot. Ive been here a few times and originally expected the Napa chic celebrity chef experience. The Olive Tree might not hit the highs of the high profile Napa restaurants when the celebrity chef is there, but the Olive Tree has never hit the lows I’ve experienced when the celebrity chefs at other restaurants are absent.

After living in Napa for 28 years I finally went to this place after being invited by friends. Let’s start with cocktails: two people at our table ordered Gin Tonics that were more like Gin Toxics. Strong! Two of these would have you on the floor. Maybe the bar was short on tonic? No question you get a damn fine deal on cocktails. Menu is standard Italian based fare with a variety of protiens and starches, but not much in the veggie department besides salads. This is a Food Coma menu. There were also some off-menu specials that were just a variation of something. Didn’t get the impression that the Chef got a good deal on some fresh in-season item that they wanted to feature. Yeah, I’m spoiled because of the dining options in Napa Valley, so I may be harsh with just rating two stars. Service was attentive, food prepared well, courses were paced properly. Even though there was nothing I tasted that made me think I needed to come back next week, I’d dine here again. Plenty of older locals are regulars here. Those visiting Napa will not find the Napa Dining Experience here that they are looking for, but a good menu of standard comfort food.

Ate here once before. Service was slow but the pork tenderloin stroganoff was tasty. Place was a bit outdated. This time, it seemed being sat was a chore. A girl brought bread and butter but I had no silverware. A long last I was able to order a drink. Never got to order food. I was there 15 minutes and left. The server who sat me seemed to be my server, but soent so much time chatting qith a couple of surrounding tables sat by I assume, regulars, I felt ignored and was too hungry to wait so long. I guess if you know them you’re good. Best of luck if you’re new to the restaurant. There are too many choices to have bad service in a raestaurant that’s not even in the midst of a rush. I recommend dining elsewhere.

If you’re 90, have no taste-buds, and lots of money this place is great! If not, don’t try it. Been going with my family for over 15 years and have always hated it.

I don’t know why everything takes so long to get to guests here. We arrived at 6:30p and didn’t leave until 9:30p, and that was only because we didn’t receive the check until 9:25 and chased the waitress down to give her our payment. When the average age of your clientele is over 65, you probably shouldn’t act like there’s a ton of time to waste. Now that I’ve stated my opinion in poor taste, let me move onto my experience. We did not choose this restaurant; we came with family who met that 65+ demographic. We were in a large party(about 20 people) and were accommodated in a private room. Sweet. Random T-shape table, but whatever. We didn’t get our orders taken until about 7:30(our entire party was there and seated by 6:50). I’m a vegan. If you’re vegan, DONOTGOHERE. The food is not safe or remotely vegan friendly. I was told the fried zucchini was not battered in eggs; lies. It also came out covered in Parmesan. That wasn’t listed on the menu, so she brought out another plate of cheeseless ones I fed my children. Well in the process of cutting them up, I found a piece of fried meat in them and the zucchini sticks themselves smelled like fried fish. Gross, and illegal! Separate fryers are required for fried meats and not meat items! Up next, I ordered from the«vegetarian options»: eggplant Parmesan(nope) and vegetable teriyaki stir fry. Cool. It’s been awhile since I paid $ 17 for a stir fry, but I’ll take it. When it finally got to me, I ate about a third of it before finding a chunk of some kind of meat in it. I picked through it to find two more sizable chunks. Disgusting. If you have vegetarian options, please make sure you make the necessary efforts to prepare them separately from your meat entrees. They comped the meal after I told her I lost my appetite which I appreciated, but this place is disgusting.

We went here on our first night in Napa Valley. We were desperate to eat. Starving, literally(okay maybe not literally — but really hungry). We Unilocaled for something close and came across the Olive Tree. Well, fellow Unilocalers, we were a bit disappointed with this selection. First up, the guy who greeted us acted like we were doing them a favor: «Would you like to have dinner?» Hmmmm, yes, that’s why we are here! My husband asked for some wine and our waiter took it upon himself to bring the whole bottle, instead of just one glass. My husband’s cajun salmon was not too bad. It came with sliced potatoes and green beans. I had spinach ravioli which was, unfortunately, doused in Chef Boyardee tomato sauce. Truly. Yuck! I had to scrape the sauce off so that I could pick through the ravioli, which honestly weren’t too bad. Décor: cool if you like the early 70’s.

Ok, so myabe I don’t count because I live less than a mile away. However, I also live a mile away from some of the best California Michelin starred restaurants, so I do have choices. This place is great! How can you resist wanting to be a regular, when the owner serves you a large cocktail and then runs over to sit with his wife on the couch after everyone is served? Chris, the owner, shuffles between checking on the dining room and mixing drinks and pouring large goblets of wine. Grey, disheveled, mad scientist hair and a cock sure attitude, this guy is a classic, old school, big city owner. The food is good, but you know how it’s going to be just looking at by-gone dishes like liver and onions, veal parmigiana, etc. Doesn’t matter, the décor is an odd mix of tiki style fake bamboo trees in the bar and minimialist Little Italy style B&W portraits in the restaurant. Servers are cool and friendly. It just feels good.

A woman we met at a diner raved about this place and so we found ourselves in the area one day and decided to check it out. Very dated décor, hardly any patrons. The waiter told us that the chef decides what potatoes are served with the entrees and said that day it will be a garlic mashed. We were fine with that. He then gave us our food with roasted potatoes. We asked why we didn’t get the mashed potatoes and he said they ran out. About 10 minutes later we saw him deliver an entrée to another table with what else. mashed potatoes! Side vegetables were overcooked and food overall was bland and not seasoned well. I can’t believe this restaurant is survives. I am a local and would not come back. Maybe if my grandmother is still alive I’ll consider taking her here. Lesson learned, don’t get advise on Napa eateries from people who live in the East Bay.

Old fashion style with old fashion hospitality. They have a wonderful courtyard with seating so you may enjoy the burning fireplace and a drink from the bar. The food was great and the price was between $ 15 – 25. They have a little bit of everything. Seafood, pasta, chicken etc.

This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem. At first, our family was going to leave because the parking lot was near empty, but we decided to give this place a shot anyways and I am so glad we did. When we entered, the waiter was very friendly and accommodating(I wonder if it’s because we were the group there aside from another group that showed up later). Their soup of the day was minestrone which was oh-so-delicious! We all ordered something off a lunch special menu– 2 chicken liver sauté and 2 linguini with clams. The food was scrumptious. In the linguini, they actually gave us an amazing amount of clams unlike those typical Italian restaurants that give you 5 clams…(maybe 6 or 7 if they’re feeling generous) The whole plate was covered in clams. Speaking of plates, the amount of food they give you is generous for the price you pay. I’d definitely come back here again. I knocked off half a star because I found an ant crawling on the table and another half because we had to pay $ 1 for each glass of water.

I’ve wanted to go to this place for a long time and I’m glad I finally did. The food was great and the serrvice was even better. The waiter said its usually an older persons hang out but for the price and quality you can’t beat it. I can’t wait to tell all my friends about it or go back again.

Ok, mostly great, some minor weird things about this place. My boyfriend and I had reservations for 7:30 on New Year’s Eve, since we were up in Napa celebrating and almost everything was closed. This place is in the middle of nowhere, beside a Toyota dealership, and with a small and illogically laid-out parking lot. That being said, the restaurant itself is cute. We walked in, were seated quickly, had water brought to us after we had placed our drink order and then were told they«had no bread that night». We thought this was weird, since EVERY other table had bread(there is a difference between we «have none» and«ran out»). Then, two seconds later, a basket of bread was brought. Then another. It was bizarre. Our waiter was very friendly and mostly attentive. The food was good and in huge portion sizes. I got the scaloni(apparently scallops and abalone combine and pounded into a filet), which was delicious. My boyfriend got the chicken parmagian, which was good. Not sure I’d go out of my way to return, but it wasn’t bad.
