My wife and I love this place. The 3-meat molcajete is amazing and there’s usually plenty to take home. Waitress is always friendly and accommodating, and the outdoor seating is really enjoyable in nice weather.

We went here as a recommendation from an employee in a winery. I could eat only the bottomless chip and salsa alone. The salsa had some much flavor and kick it was amazing. We had a slight mix up with the food and apparently due to rush the kitchen could not get out my plate. Good thing it happened as I ended up splitting my Husband’s Al Pastor Chimichanga one of the best I’ve had. Crispy and hot

First visit to Napa for my wife and I. We chose this place based on good Unilocal reviews. I had the chile Verde burrito which was very good snd my wife had the fish soup. She said it was very, very good. The salsa for the chips was good too. Service was not excellent… never was asked to refill my ice tea which I finished within the first 10 minutes. I tried to catch their attention but never did until 20 minutes later. Other than that it was a good experience and I would come again.,

The food is really good our waitress was very attentive and came to our table and ask if we needed anything. My shrimp enchiladas were full of shrimp that’s a plus. I do recommend this restaurant

This is probably the worst Mexican food I ever had. Ordered a Chile Relleno and a super Burrito. The super burrito very dry an tough meat it felt like boiled meat. The chile Relleno super spicy. No chips one Salsa. The one star goes to the wonderful waitress with beautiful makeup ayes, that explained the prices and very friendly when ordering and my arrival.

Excellent chips and salsa — nicest servers! We love their fish tacos and the enchiladas in verde sauce(mmmmmmmmm!). Giant sized drinks and a cute little outdoor area, makes lunch hour lunches a treat. Really love this place. Never a wait during lunch …

The most disgusting mexican food ever! Beans tasted burnt, cheese enchiladas gross(cheese was unmelted inside) with nasty mole ontop. Uncooked Tamales. I used to come all the time but this place is a disappointment and waste of money. We spent $ 40 dollars on our meals only to leave hungry! Never ever will I return n honestly I don’t know how they are still in business. Gross!

I have been going to El Rancho Grande for years, 14 years in fact, and I used to go to the one in American Canyon until it closed down several years. Now my husband and I go to the El Rancho in Napa on Silverado Trail. It is still really delicious Mexican food, however, I noticed a few things have been slipping over the years. The guacamole used to taste and appear to be freshly made, however, the guacamole we have had during the past few visits had a creamy smooth texture and was a bit sour, as if it had been over processed and previously frozen. The enchilada sauce also has more of a canned taste and does not taste like it used to. Maybe I am getting old and cranky, or maybe they have had to gone to mass previously produced food stuffs to keep their costs reasonable, which they are.

Visiting Napa for the first time and we were here for the BottleRock 2015 for the weekend and had to park somewhere near by. We found this local Mercian restaurant near by the event and thought why not grab a bite here to eat. Glad we did because the cheese enchiladas were just AMAZING! I am lactose intolerant, but this dish was amazing and it hit the spot. Chicken Tamale was okay and beans were good as well. Friendly staff and the place were busy by 11am!

They brought chips and two salsas right away. The chips were just okay but the salsa tasted fresh and good. I had the Chicken Flauta which was delicious. The food and service was very good. Authentic Mexican food, music and beers.

Never disappoints. It is always hard to make a selection when reading their menu, everything is great! Their house mole is one of my favorite sauces, and the ceviche always tastes so fresh. The girls who work the front of the house are very friendly and I notice small details of my packaging(most of the time I call in for orders to go) which leads me to believe they go the extra mile whether you’re dining in or out. Thankyou!

Stopped by this place because we had a craving for some Mexican food. Being that it’s Thanksgiving Day we were surprised to see this place open. It was tasty and super affordable. The salsas were tasty but not spicy. The chile relleno was perfectly seasons with just a bit of kick and the shrimp civice was loaded with shrimp.

I wasn’t too impressed with this spot. It’s dubbed as the«most authentic» Mexican food in Napa, and somehow I don’t believe it. They do not have black beans, which is surprising. The atmosphere is kinda run down-dirty almost. Their chips are out of a bag, and not a good one. Salsa’s could use some help. There are definitely better spots close by

I really wanted to love the food so I could give this place 5 stars because the service was so outstanding! From the moment my son and I walked in our waitress made us feel welcome and that she really cared about our experience. She kept coming back to our table and made sure we didn’t need anything… The moment the last chip left our basket she was on it and got us a refill. The specials were clearly explained to us and she made sure all our questions were answered with a smile. When we were finished she asked about dessert and when we declined she quickly brought us our check. We needed to go boxes and she even offered to refill our drinks and put them in a to go cup to take with us. I wish I would have asked her name! Thank you awesome waitress for making our experience memorable! Now to the food… The first round of chips was okay… Needed salt, but tasted fresh. The second round… not so much. It had a heavy lard taste that overpowered everything. I ordered the shrimp burrito and maybe that was the wrong choice on my part since I am pretty picky when it comes to shrimp. The shrimp were tiny and tasted like they were previously frozen. That ruined the burrito for me right away. The beans to everything else ratio was also way off. My son ordered a kids bean, rice and steak burrito which he seemed to enjoy. I am definitely coming back to this place, but won’t be ordering the shrimp burrito and may choose to pass on the chips!

Have been coming here(and the old one in American Canyon) since I was a kid. Always loved their chips & salsa, and burritos. Come to this specific location on 4th of July to watch the firework from the fairground in the restaurant’s parking lot.

I’m just the IT guy and taste tester. My wife writes all the cools stuff This restaurant has been on my list to try since we moved in January. A few weeks ago we finally went for lunch. We sat in the patio area, surrounded by grapevines and cacti. Rancho Grande #3 Chips and salsa are brought out immediately. The salsa had super fresh tomato flavor, with a nice hint of acidity. The chips were thin, crisp, and nicely salted. Very fresh. I ordered an Al Pastor Torta. This was the first time I’ve had a Torta(Mexican sandwich), so I don’t have anything to compare it to, but it was delicious… and big. The bread was like a cross between focaccia and ciabatta, more oil and salt than ciabatta, and more of a golden crust then focaccia. A layer of black beans is spread on the bottom piece of bread, followed by a nice heaping of Al Pastor(barbecued pork), a layer of sliced tomatoes, and a sprinkling of shredded lettuce for crunch. My husband ordered a Carnitas Wet Burrito. It was ginormous. The sauce was a nicely complex mole. I’ve only had a complex mole once before that I can remember. We will definitely be going back.

3.5 stars — better than average I’m with TJ in believing that most northern ca Mexican restaurants for some reason don’t live up to the top offerings in southern ca. Rancho Grande does a pretty good job. Not screamin, but my fish tacos were pretty good. Mr. M enjoyed shrimp enchiladas and the big boy had a monster-sized chicken quesadilla that was two meals for him. The chips were nice and light and they offered a refill when we scarfed down the first basket. Also we generally do not take our dog to restaurants… but happened to be traveling with her and it was really nice that she was welcome(on leash) in the patio seating area. I was surprised at the size of the menu, and also that they had waitress service to the patio.(I just expected to order and then either take the food to go or eat on the patio). The fish taco«meal» only came with one taco… so I ordered a 2nd. Ate both tacos, but didn’t need that much beans/rice. They were out of Pacifico, so we got another beer that the waitress described as dark. We agreed she must have been talking about the bottle color as it was similar to Pacifico. Lunch was a bit pricier than we expected based on the appearance of the place… but it is Napa I suppose.

Great place for a cheap quick lunch in between wine tastings. Be sure you buy a certificate on for maximum value. Homemade salsa is amazing. Spicy with just enough heat.
