My husband and I walked in today to look at handguns. The staff behind the gun counter was talking about a home renovation with another customer. The customer was not buying anything– just talking. We looked at revolvers right next to the staff person for several minutes. We picked up some safety glasses and browsed a bit and returned to the guns. We stood and waited for him to finish his conversation. I tried to make eye contact. The customer blocked part of the counter even though I was trying to look at the other revolvers. The staff completely ignored us, never said hello or asked us if we needed help. Yep, I’m a middle age woman and I’m just learning to shoot. This was my first trip ever to a gun shop and I was eager to ask a lot of questions. I’m still trying out guns and plan to buy one soon. I’ll also need a gun safe and safety equipment, etc. I’ll be investing quite a bit of my hard earned cash. As we gave up and headed toward the door. the staff and customer commented about how slow business was lately. Hmm, business at Sweeney’s is slow– or is it just their staff?

This is a great place to go to get your fishing and hunting equipment. The staff is helpful and easy to work with. They have live bait fishing equipment rods reels line. You can get your hunting fishing licenses as well as any firearms.

Not from around the area and wanted to check out this place didn’t know they opened at 9am I arrived at 8:50am went to the door and it was locked the open sight was on and there was staff sitting around they told me to come back made no sense since there was around 5 mins left to open overall it was poor service

I have been in many times and was helped by Chad and the rest of the Archery Pro staff with setting up and ordering a Hoyt bow and accessories and found them all very knowledgeable and helpful in knowing what I was looking for in a bow and setting it up and filling the order for me.
The frustration I had was with Hoyt as far as how long it takes to get product from them and that did make me nervous and tested my patience with such a large priced purchase and turkey season right around the corner.
Overall Great service and would highly recommend this team of specialists at Sweeny’s Sports.

Pretty small gun section but they were able to order the specific handgun I wanted. Wait time to speak with a gun salesperson is a little long due to the small size of the store, but it’s worth it. Overall a pleasant experience.

I took my bow in today and the guy installed everything I wanted on it as efficient as possible and did it professionally. I will return to do business with them again even though they are an hour away.

I went in and dealt with Cory the first time, he was great! Funny, informative and friendly. When I went in a second time the customer service was terrible! Older man was rude and condescending. I would not buy from there based on that experience.

Sweeney’s is a great sportsmans store. With everything from fresh and salt water fishing equipment. Great fly fishing assortment. Also have firearms and archery equipment. They helped set up my compound bow for hunting by tuning it, installing a peep sight and string silencers. They also took my draw length and set my pull weight for $ 20. They let me try 2 mechanical releases and set me up with arrows and a shooting block for a good price too… I always stop in when I’m in the area.

Went into Sweeny’s a couple days ago about purchasing a firearm for personal safety. The gentleman i spoke to was extremely rude. I wanted to be informed so I could make the correct purchase. Every time I asked him a question he got more irritated and talked down to me like I was a nobody. I was a regular customer there for fishing supplies but not anymore. Maybe next time someone goes in there, they’ll treat them with respect. The way a customer is suppose to be treated. Ill be sure to run my big mouth to everyone I cross and tell them to NOT do business with them. Hope it was worth it Jack offs.

I am not a hunter or a fishing person. I just went into Sweeney’s to get some pepper spray. They were very helpful and nice when I purchased it.
After testing the spray I found the trigger it was difficult to push down with my thumb. I went back in with the spray and told them about it. They tested it out and thought that was probably the way it was made but went ahead and gave me another can for free. We tested that one too and he was right, they are just made that way. (Not their fault– they didn’t make the pepper spray). Anyway, I’ll just have to use two hands. They let me have the new spray and even suggested I keep the other one too.
Being a woman, I was concerned about how I would be treated by this type of business but they were always very nice, helpful and never «talked down to me». –You know what I mean. All the staff I encountered there have been great.
BTW, they are packed FULL of fishing equipment.
I just wanted them to know I appreciated their good service and wanted to spread the word here.

Sweeney’s has been around forever. A last of a dying breed of local owned/​operated businesses. I went there as a kid, and I still go there today, and I’m older than 50. They continue to treat all of their customers like it was still the 1960’s, with curteous help, knowledgable advice, and super friendly service. I travel from Glen Ellen these days, but when in Napa Sweeney’s is a favorite stop. I give this business 5 stars because it truly is a top notched sporting goods store, throughout the entire NorthBay area.

This is a great fly fishing pro shop with knowledgeable staff and quality gear! If you are in Napa and like to fly fish, or hunt you will want to stop in.

This is a guns and fishing tackle shop. I go here for my fishing needs only.
Here’s one of the better fly fishing outfitters in the area. They have good selection of gear for the area including saltwater fly fishing. The fly guy there is super friendly and knowledgeable.
They also have a good selection for conventional fishing. Not so much for offshore but they got it covered for inshore, bay, delta, freshwater, etc. A better selection of reels than rods. Lots of fishing line choices. Local custom stuff including lures. They know the Napa area in particular.

Great selection. Friendly staff that know their stuff. More than happy to give you tips on how to fish in the local waters. Check them out
