Taqueria Zapata

I am from Napa originally, but moved to Sacramento and really hadn’t been back for years. However, I’ve been hanging around a lot lately, and because of that, one thing that I needed to do was find a go-​to place for cheap and amazing street tacos (shown on the menu here as mini tacos). With all of the small places to choose from in Napa, I was getting a bit distressed, as none of them were really working out for me so well.
Until I decided to try this place…
I love food spots tucked in little markets or tiny spaces, and this is situated in the back of an impressive-​looking Mexican market. As is usually the case at places like this, you order your food where they prepare it, and pay at the register in front while it is being made.
I have only had chicken tacos here (other meat options are available), but from that limited experience, I can say with confidence that you’ll be hard pressed to find better in Napa. Served with a radish (as they should be), the beauty is in the flavorful simplicity of these. And flavorful they are! The homemade chips are also fantastic and thick, and the salsa is definitely good (not the BEST I’ve ever had, but I have no complaints). I will be returning here A LOT for these tacos.
I have also had a pupusa de quesillo (Cheese pupusa) here which was very good, and it came with a very satisfyingly spicy curtido on the side. I would definitely order this again, as well. I also look forward to trying other items on their menu!
Please note that there aren’t tables here, so understand that you’ll be eating standing (or sitting on the bench) outside, in your vehicle, or taking your meal somewhere else. Don’t let that deter you from frequenting this amazing place, though!

Amazing salsa and burritos it’s always the little hole in the wall that comes through for me! This is a Mexican market and it has food too! Best of both worlds

Had two Zapata tacos with carnitas and they were delicious. Filled with meat and guacamole it was exactly what I wanted! Quick and friendly service, I will definitely be coming here again!

We ate here today after hiking at Skyline Wilderness Park. What a great surprise! We ordered the BBQ chicken burrito and a super burrito. They were HUGE, only $ 7.75 each and delicious. The owner was there working with his young son who was out of school due to the holiday and everyone was so friendly. At 2pm on a Monday there was lots of traffic coming in and out and all appeared to be locals. Go where the locals go right? Highly recommend!

Great quality food for good prices, lots of flavor, healthy, packed full of wholesome ingredients. Love the BBQ pollo burrito.

Overall worse experience I’ve had going out to eat. Next time I won’t eat at super markets. There’s flys everywhere in the store and I ordered a torta that came with guacamole and I’m pretty sure the guacamole was expired. It was disgusting. I threw away the torta and I’m never coming back to this place.

We love this place. The tacos and burritos are awesome. They also do great homemade chips and salsas. Everything is extremely affordable, and it’s a great local market if you need to pick up a few items. I am always amazed by how little everything costs, and how delicious it is.

Liked this cute little store it seems clean and well stocked, the meat market has really good prices and they have hot food in the kitchen, tacos, burritos even roasted corn. Grocery prices were very fair for being a small store almost like So Cal

What an awesome find in Napa. Delicious tacos for $ 1.50 each. And since it’s a grocery store, pick up a Mexican coke and pastries.

Had the carne asada mini taco and carne asada burrito. Burrito was on the expensive side for a taqueria but it was good. The board said the mini taco was .95 but I was charged 1.65 don’t know how that happened but I’m not complaining.
