We had a wonderful time with Jennifer as our hostess. Extremely knowledgeable about the winery and broader wine industry. Learned a lot from her.

We visited Trefethen in April of 2016 with 3 friends. We stumbled upon it by accident trying to get to another winery. Mike(our host for the day) let us stay even though we did not have a reservation. He was an excellent and friendly host and made the tour feel very personal(unlike the other vineyards we visited).

We brought a large group(12) here and had an exceptional time. The grounds are beautiful with some great views. The history is interesting. The tasting room is temporary since the earthquake damage, but was great. The staff was helpful but not overbearing. They were also friendly and funny. We had some special requests /surprises(for a guest) which they were very good at helping to coordinate. Most of all, the wine was without exception the best anyone in our group has had. It is many of the group’s favorite vineyard! It would be hard to be disappointed.

Lovely services, delicious albeit napa priced wines. They’re still remodeling from the earthquake so it wouldn’t hurt to call in advance to ensure they have space. An enjoyable time!

Trefethen is a lovely winery in Napa. They are in a temporary tasting room right now due to the earthquake but it doesn’t take away from the delicious wine and amazing service. It’s very clear that the staff love the wine as much as the customers do — and that makes a big difference. This is always a stop for us as we make or way north into wine country.

Lovely visit! All of their employees were friendly and knowledgeable and helped us plan the rest of our day in Napa. The wine was excellent and the ambience was lovely as well. Overall, a wonderful experience.

A few years ago I really liked their wines, their quality either changed or my palate did. The tastings are now in a tent after the earthquake, and you seat does and they come to serve and talk to you about the wine, which I like to do when you are in a group but when we went there were only a few couple and the place was very quiet in a weird way.

Fair warning: I have not visited the vineyard. I experienced this wine on a menu in DC, two weeks after we got back from our vacation in Napa. Dang! I had the 2011 Cabernet which was truly a marvel. Spectacular depth, rich velvet mouth feel, and lingering finish. Now, if only I can find a wine store near me that carries it…

I have been to this winery twice and loved it each time. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly plus the wine tastes great! If there is something you want to «revisit» they will usually give you another pour and truly seek to make sure that you enjoy yourself and the wine. It’s a shame they had earthquake damage to their main building a year or so ago, because it was beautiful. But now they are working on restoring it and hopefully that will be done soon so visitors can enjoy it once again. Until then, they have set up a lovely tent looking out onto their vineyards which also created a wonderful wine tasting atmosphere. Highly recommend this place!

Had a lovely wine tasting experience at Trefethen. This winery has a family history of wine production in the Napa area. The staff made sure that we got to try all the wines and they were very knowledgeable about the different types. The Trefethen team has set up a lovely tasting experience next to their original tasting house, which is currently under construction. I cannot wait to see the new space once it is finished. The landscape surrounding the tasting house has an amazing view of all the grapes and is great for taking photos! If you are taking a trip to the Napa/Sonoma area be sure to stop in at Trefethen on your way in; it is one of the first wineries you will hit if you drive in from the San Francisco area.

This winery never disappoints! The staff is always so friendly, very warm and informative. They really take the time to ensure you are taken care of. The ambiance and people are also very chill and their wines are so amazing. We love bringing our friends here and they always end up having a great time too. If you love their wines, it’s so worth being wine club members since you not only can get the bottles at a lower price, but also get your tastings waived. My faves are the whites in the classic tasting and all the OKD and Dragon’s tooth in the Reserves. Their late harvest Riesling is heavenly~~~.(My husband I always have atleast two stocked.) The tastings here are the best I’ve been to so far in Napa. Can’t wait until the next time I visit. :)

Knowledgeable staff and a nice, relaxed tasting. I did the regular $ 25 tasting and my sister and dad did the reserve tasting at $ 35 a head. If you are a wine connoisseur, the reserve tasting gives you more bang for your buck. However, it was nice to be able to compare and contrast different wines. The regular tasting has a list you can choose from, whereas the five wines are chosen for you with the reserve tasting. They are in a makeshift tasting room right now while the tasting room is being repaired. It was damaged in the August 2014 earthquake. No matter, the makeshift tent is nice. You just have to use a porta potty if you need to use the restroom(it is clean, but still it’s a porta potty). They bring bread sticks to your table, which is a nice touch. Dan poured our wine and he is fantastic. He gave us great information about the wine, the region and any other questions we had. He was definitely the highlight of this tasting. I’m not a huge wine drinker, so I have to go off of what my dad and sister think. My dad enjoyed his wine, but not enough to purchase any of it. To put that into context, at the winery we went to right before, he bought enough cases to become VIP. This was a very relaxed tasting. We ended up staying for close to two hours and never felt rushed. I would definitely suggest it.

The 2014 Quandry and the 2014 Chardonnay are spectacular as well! Lovely white wines perfect for pasta or seafood.

Breathtaking views of wine country as you drive up to their beautiful winery. Unfortunately their building was damaged during the earthquake this last year, so they are undergoing a bit of construction. None the less, they are making do with a beautiful tented wine tasting area. We enjoyed their wines and all of the information about their wine that their staff provided. I like learning new things with a glass of wine in hand!

Finding it was not hard, as our Nav was accurate for this one(yay, woohoo!). What a beautiful drive through the vineyard to the tasting room. As noted by others, they were hit by the earthquake in 2014 and they are working on restoring their main tasting room and building. We gladly held the tasting in their makeshift temporary quarters which was quite spacious and up to the task. For our third tasting in a row, we were served by someone young and sporting a beard(thankfully all three were men!). What gives? To our delight, there were very few wines we tried that were not, in our humble opinions, excellent. Napa is known for its reds, but we ended up taking with us a case of whites. Everything we tried was great. Chardonnay, Quandary, Riesling, etc. Then we had the reds, and they were also very, very good, particularly their Cab, Merlot and Dragon’s Tooth. Had to take a couple of those, too. And the late Harvest Riesling was so yummy, so we had to by a few of those. Great dessert wine. We gladly joined their club. By far, our favorite wines so far on the trip. Don’t skip it.

Simply put… WOW! What an awesome tasting experience! We have visited tasting rooms around the world and this was the best I can remember. While we didn’t have an appointment and really had only planned to taste the Riesling, Gary Johnson found us space and made us feel at home. He did an outstanding job taking us on a tasting journey that combined the art of the wine, an exploration of taste, and history of the family and winery. We especially appreciated some off list tastings which ultimately lead us to buy far more wine than we had planned but we are eager to partake in our purchases. Gary helped make it a wonderful experience. Of course the outstanding wines helped. I hope they keep the by appointment when they move back to their permanent location and hope they can add food pairings for an even more elegant experience. Kudos to all!

Beautiful landscape. The main building is under construction so they have a tent instead. The tent is actually really nice with tent windows and even 2 chandelier. With that being said… rental tent also means rental portable potty. Yikes. Hopefully they will get their renos done. Reservations needed. We really enjoy the wines here and it was better than Hess but service was a bit slow and we felt like the employees weren’t really personal. They felt more like servers and not wine sommeliers. It was pretty busy and it was like we were at a wedding reception or something. There was a nice breeze and we had a great time.

We had a very enjoyable tasting with Shannon. There were two different types of tastings so we opted for one of each. The wines are great. We left with a Viognier for our friend and a bottle of Pinot for ourselves. Michael took a bunch of us on a tour of the old tasting building, which was affected by the earthquake. It is literally slanted and quite the sight to see. They set up a tasting room in a tent while they have the building fixed. The tent, however, has a really nice and sophisticated setup. It was a pleasant surprise. The staff and wines were enjoyable. I would recommend this place.

My boyfriend is a huge fan of Rieslings. Knowing that Trefethen is well known for their Dry Rieslings, we had to stop by for a taste. Since it was Valentine’s Day weekend, we decided to opt for the Valentine’s Day food and wine pairing special($ 30/person). There were four sets: 2011 Harmony Chardonay — Lemon white chocolate bark, with a hint of sea salt — I honestly loved the chocolate more than the wine. It’s like a Limoncello and a white chocolate bar had a baby. yummmmmm 2010 Merlot — Heart-shaped pizza bite with chevre cheese, fig compote & bacon — I know merlot and figs have always been a lovely couple, but this didn’t really stand out to me… sadly, it wasn’t very memorable. 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon — Peruvian potato with shallot confit, blue crema & chive crisp — Again, wasn’t memorable. 2010 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon — Estate fig jam nestled in the heart of a rich, dark cocoa confection – Our of the four, this tasted the best. However, once again, the truffle was the shining star. It was so decadent and paired so well with the cab. Definitely a fan. The space has a very warm and inviting country feel. I’m sure it is very picturesque during the spring and summer when the fields are lush and the flowers are in bloom. Service was excellent. Our guide for the food/wine pairing was really personable and made us feel very comfortable. Since we did the special, the host at the front also offered us a couple additional tastings where we got to try the Dry Riesling. The prices for the tasting itself wasn’t too bad, but our Valentine’s Day special didn’t seem like it was worth $ 60 for two. As mentioned above, the shining stars were the chocolates. Overall, it was decent. I think I’d come back for the chocolate though.
