Well, I guess I’m a weirdo because I have no complaints about this place like everyone else does. I’ve been here a handful of times and the bagels and cream cheese have always been fresh and delicious. I’ve only ever gone in during the week, but I’ve still never had problems.

Standard bagel place but poorly managed. Expect too wait in line and for them to be out of your selection when you get to counter. Not worth bring the kids only to have the kids argue about having to get a bagel they dont like. No plain, no everything, no salt, no cinnamon. You get egg or poppy! Do not expect a clean table. They will give you a well used rag so you can clean your own spot.

I used to really love this place and I enjoyed chatting with the owner but I don’t know how I’m going to go back because I pushed the lever of the vanilla syrup and a spider came out from under it and fell into my drink. I was so grossed out I just threw out the coffee even though the owner gave me a new one. I really like how close it is to my school and everything but that was gross. They are also very understaffed so if you’re in a hurry don’t go there

It isn’t often that I go somewhere that warrants a 1-star review, but I have never been somewhere in which it was more deserved. I had a downright horrible experience here. I had been in between appointments for work and had about 30 minutes to grab something to eat. No problem for a bagel shop you would think… you’d be wrong. I got there and noticed that their special of the day was a lox sandwich. This is one of my favorites, so I ordered it up. I waited about 10 minutes for this sandwich to be ready — I could barely believe it. There was one other person in the restaurant who already had her food. What is so difficult about spreading some cream cheese on a bagel and adding smoked salmon? I got my sandwich and I quickly realized what the wait was for. It was to attempt to completely defrost the lox, which the failed to do as there were still bits of ice in my sandwich and parts of it were frozen. I also wanted to mention that the lox was a really odd color. Normally when you get lox, it is a pink/coral like color — this was bright red. Wild salmon is a brighter red color, but I highly doubt that this place splurged for wild-caught salmon. I decided I would pick the lox off my sandwich and just eat the bagel with cream cheese. The only problem with that is that because the lox was frozen, my cream cheese was now all watery and runny. I was completely grossed out and just tossed everything. It is a shame because I like to support small businesses — but if this is what they are delivering I am not coming back.

Standard bagel shop. Pros The sandwiches are good, and the cream cheese and bagel combinations are, too. Cons The place is always under staffed, so be prepared to wait. Also a bit over priced. Avoid the soups, as they probably have been sitting for at least a week. Not the cleanest of places.

Big Apple Bagels has delicious bagels and some really fun cream cheese flavors, but the coffee was not great. I ordered the salt bagel with bacon cheddar cream cheese. It was flavorful and the bagel was a perfect combination of soft and chewy. I wouldn’t recommend the salt bagel because there’s little salt on the bottom and way too much(like my mouth feels raw) on the top. It ought to be salted like a pretzel — a good amount of kosher salt spread evenly. My wife ordered an egg bagel with vegetable cream cheese. It was a great combo. Her comment is «it’s super fresh; I like it.» There you have it. We both ended up dumping out our coffee in the bathroom sink. It seemed watered down or something. They do have a lot of favored syrups if you are into that kind of thing, but pass on the coffee if you can. The dinning room was nothing special. It’s not a place where you’ll want to stick around after you finish your meal. But it’s not unsightly either. We sat at the bar, which I thought was kind of fun. I’d go back. I’d like to try the cinnamon-sugar bagel with plain cream cheese.

Out of Asiago cheese bagels on a Sunday morning… Really? No point in buying a dozen bagels when they didn’t have the bagel I like most. Saved me money, but wasted my time in line. Had a bunch of everything else. But bad business not making enough of the most popular bagel.

I cannot get past the layers of filth on the windows the floors and the walls. It looks like this place has not been cleaned in a year. It was 10 o’clock in the morning so I understand maybe crumbs and stuff on the tables… but the floors look like they have not been mopped in years and the Windows look like they have not been cleaned in years either. It made it really difficult to sit and enjoy my food because I figure if that’s what the customer sees I can only imagine what the back area looks like. DISGUSTING

I recently went to this place for the first time and I was pretty disappointed. First of all, the service was not good. While I was inquiring about the sandwiches, the person behind the counter answered their cellphone and walked away. Very rude. I ordered a whole wheat bagel with chive cream cheese and was disappointed to find that the bagel was very sweet. I had expected a more neutral bagel to go with my savory cream cheese. There were a couple fluorescent lights that needed replacing. Their flickering was distracting. Several cups of orange juice were sitting in water instead of ice on the counter. The ketchup bottle at the condiment counter was covered in a ketchup crust. I will not be returning

friendly and a decent value! Try the New Yorker sandwich. They have very tasty muffins too.

Good bagels and drinks. The staff is not overly helpful or friendly, but nice stop. My son had the ceaser salad bagel and it was killer.

Big Apple Bagels works for this little mongoose to get his bagel and shmear fix Nice chicagoland bagel shop. They have all the standard bagel and spread varieties, they’re friendly, they get the order right and they taste great. I only go on weekends and the same guy is there every weekend, he’s friendly enough. Shop has always appeared clean and sanitary to me. Last I looked Naperville isn’t in Brooklyn, NYC or even the North Shore, so for Naperville they are an A OK bagel option for me. If you’re looking for authentic NY bagels, this is not the place, these are Einstein style.

Stopped in for a quick sandwich here because it’s close to home, big mistake!!! I should have know by the filthy dining area not to order, but I went ahead anyway. I ordered the mediterranean veg out bagel, while I was waiting I noticed that the employees didn’t have gloves on their hands while handling the ingredients of my sandwich, to make matters worse the owner was wiping his nose back there. The ice machine had black mold coming out the sides like it had never been cleaned before, and visible black flakes in the ice. Needless to say I demanded my money back and I left, I would advise against going to this place. I’m tempted to file a health dept. report.
