I stopped in here today to grab some boxed stuffing for our food drive at work. While I was there, I decided to grab a sandwich from the deli. The lady behind the counter was very nice. I ordered a Philly Cheesesteak on panini bread, as the darn advertisement was rather enticing. The actual product was pretty disappointing. Greasy and bland. The cheese melted well, but I could hardly taste the peppers or onions. And the meat… bleh. Definitely not so great. There was a hole in the bread so much of the meat and grease dripped out through that. The edges were extra toasted and difficult to eat. I know I shouldn’t have expected greatness getting a sandwich here, but I had hopes. It’s painfully obvious the quality of Dominick’s has gone downhill in the past few years. I remember working there 15 years ago, and I remember the quality being much, much better then. I don’t shop here often(it’s more of a place to run for a gallon of milk or something you’re out of and just need to grab really quick). Their sales aren’t that great, and obviously for the quality it’s not worth it. The self checkout lanes suck! I scanned a bottle of water, and the stupid scanner didn’t recognize it. The associate up at the front(who watches over the self-cheker-outers) hollered out a number for me to punch in for the 79 cent bottle of water. Thankfully she was there to yell out a number, otherwise I would have left the water at the checkout lane. Also every single time I get the dreaded«unexpected item in bagging area» alert. Or it won’t recognize super light items you bag, like a greeting card. I’m a pro at using self-checkouts, but man… the ones here are a pain in the arse. This location in particular has always been a ghost town. It doesn’t help being located in a 90% vacant strip mall. Trader Joes or Whole Foods would do wonders for that area. It’ll be interesting to see what will replace Dominick’s when they are gone in a month or so.

I like coming here to get their 30−50% off meat, if I’m getting ready to make steak or fish that day… but I would beware because sometimes the stuff looks pretty gross. I know they aren’t supposed to sell anything past the expiration date, but some of the clearance meat(in my opinion) looks gray and not fit for eating. They have a good deli, dairy, meat, and grocery section. Their produce and frozen food section isn’t that great, but they do have butter lettuce and most places don’t.

Saddest, sorriest excuse for a meat section that I’ve ever come across in a grocery store. I felt a bit like a sellout for always going to Target to get my goods, but this particular Dominick’s reminded me why I left the supermarket world. Not only were the displays hard to figure out, but the meat I could find looked old and smelled bad. Half of the packages contained browning meat — and there was not a frying pan in sight. And despite all of the cuts being packaged and then wrapped in plastic, they were still leaking onto the different shelves. When I couldn’t locate steaks I wanted I tried to find someone to help me. Naturally, no one was available and they didn’t have a visible bell to ring for the butchers in back. When an employee finally showed up in the seafood area, she informed me that they didn’t have the steaks and that the only lamb available was a giant roast in a plastic sack with oddly colored juices/seasoning. I returned all of my items from whence they came and walked out. No way am I going to spend my hard earned cash on a place like this.

This review is only for the bakery… Our daycare does not allow us to bring any home made stuff, so I’ve ordered some cupcakes from the bakery at Dominick’s. I was not expecting a perfect decoration, but it was really poorly decorated. It did not look professional at all. I was very disappointed and regret that I did not go to a real bakery. I would never repeat this mistake again. And, I don’t want anyone to experience this either. Seriously, I could have done a much better job than they did.

Can I see your driver’s license.. . That is what I was asked when I went to go purchase a large number of gift cards on a personal credit card from this Dominick’s location. I did end up letting them see my DL, but I wasn’t aware they were going to write the number down. I didn’t ask them to void the purchase because I needed to get going and I just didn’t feel like searching around for another store to get what I needed. I did however let them know that what they were doing(asking for my DL and taking my number down) goes against their merchant agreement with the credit card company and I could in good faith report them. The woman just looked at me with a blank stare. She said the policy is for any purchase on a credit card over a certain amount due to lots of thefts, and for my «safety» as well. The other thing that turned me off from this location was that they have a cap as to how much you can purchase in gift cards if purchasing with a personal credit card and that is only once daily — apparently if you’re using a corporate card that is different. I didn’t bother to ask why because by that point I had already decided I was never coming back there. All in all, I won’t be returning to this Dominick’s anytime soon.
