I used to go here when it was Cardinal Fitness and for a short time as Midwest Fitness. I switched gyms because I moved to Oswego and go to LA Fitness now. I went back to MFC because of my friend Amy’s results from a Personal Trainer named Shane Herman. I will say this now, he is not cheap, but investing your money in Shane is well worth the investment. I worked out once a week with Shane and he was able to teach me some great techniques. Although I did not get the fitness results I wanted, Shane was not to blame at all. I had a busy yearend at work and I have been recovering from Spondylothesis(which we found out on my last session). Regardless, Shane was able to show me a bunch of exercises along with the proper form to prevent further injury. So far, it is helping. Bottomline, you want someone who knows fitness well and who is willing to make their time your time, go to Shane. He was always friendly and was always open to me asking questions. That kind of class is invaluable and if I earn more money and find another stump in the road with my fitness goals, be sure I will see Shane. He deserves the business. If you are hesitant about starting right away, I am sure he will give you an assessment. He is a good guy and only wants to see you reach your goals. Give him a chance.

Had a membership here and was excited to take classes. Only to find out one of the instructors, Tim, was constantly late to start class. On top of this he wasn’t friendly and would talk about blowjobs during class. Who wants to hear that when they are trying to work out. Ended up canceling my membership only to be charged AGAIN for another month. When I signed up I was told as long as you cancel before the payment date you wouldn’t be charged. I called an spoke to a manager who basically couldn’t help me nor refund the money. What a bunch of pricks. Will never be going back and will never recommend.

I find this gym to be much proved over cardinal. The equipment, while tightly packed is in better condition. It seems to be a bit more social than many gyms but certainly not to the level of lifetime. For the money, it is a bargain. It certainly does not smell like a dirty sweat sock like it did before new management. All in all a nice gym

If you are looking to actually accomplish a focused work out then this is not the place, as they’ve let this turn from being a great gym when it was Cardinal Fitness to a social setting. They equipment is packed in so tight you can’t typically have two people using machines next to each other, and when you want to workout during prime time good luck as they find that is optimum time to do personal training and take up considerable amounts of space. I think the final straw was watching one of the co-owners openly flirting with folks during a personal training session. Show some class. I have never tried any classes so can’t speak to that aspect. Again, I go to the gym to do a focused cardio and weight work out then go home to my family. I don’t want the noise of folks laughing/talking on treadmills, folks trying to hook up, or blocking equipment while friends they catch up on the day. I wish Unilocal could enforce no employee reviews on this site.

I am a long time member and have been very happy. It’s just what I need, it’s clean with excellent equipment. It is the perfect price too!
