New Carpet Now

We had a disappointing experience with New Carpet Now. To be fair, we bought very cheap carpeting — this purchase is meant to be a short-​term thing – so it is hard to judge their carpeting on just our purchase and I won’t attempt to do so. The carpeting itself is fine for what it is: cheap carpet. It’ll do the job.
What I didn’t like about the company is this:
1) While their customer service is very friendly, it is seriously lacking. When we set up an appointment with them, they were late, though they were courteous enough to call ahead, which was good. However, the sales rep that was here — Tony — never called the next day, as he said he would, to tell us whether the carpet that we had chosen was available and to set up an installation date. When we called back a couple of days later after not hearing from him, again, the woman there was nice, but she was supposed to call us back with stock information and didn’t. We called a third time and got our appointment. There is NO way we should have had to do that.
2) There isn’t good communication between the sales people and the installers. The installers didn’t do what they were supposed to regarding our old carpeting. The sales guy told us the installers would cut up our old carpeting and haul our carpet to the alley (trash cans). They did no such thing. In fact, they didn’t even bother taking the trash that *they* created all the way to the alley — they left it at the bottom of our stairs in the back of our house, though they did bag it. Classy!
and 3) The carpeting was not laid all that well: seams are visible in the carpeting, there is mild unevenness in the carpeting (bunching), and they didn’t go all the way to the edges of the room with the carpeting, as they apparently didn’t want to have to deal with the finishing aspects of the job. It looks okay at first glance, but would be unacceptable if we wanted this carpeting to last a long time and look really good.
In short, what we got is about what we paid for. We wanted a quick fix and cheap carpeting. However, I absolutely would NEVER buy any carpeting from them if I wanted a decent job done. If I wanted something similar from them again (cheap and quick), I would be very, very clear about what the requirements were regarding their pick up of the preexisting carpeting.
