This was okay… the quality of meat seemed standard, supermarket deli counter. In comparison, it was better than Corner Bakery but the ingredients/flavor was not as good as Panera. I picked what seemed like the healthier of the other sandwich options, but the amount of spicy mayo they dumped on it made me cringe. The pickle was good & spicy but I wouldn’t return simply for the pickle.

I love the build your own sandwich option. And with toppings like roasted red pepper and artichoke hearts, I will definitely be back! The pepper turkey is delicious also. And, oh yeah, the spicy pickle on the side! Sandwiches are served with a bland, infant sized pasta salad. For an $ 8 sandwich, I was hoping to at least get chips. Maybe I’ll go back. Or I’ll go to Panera. The only thing that turns me off about this place is the price.

Checked out this place during lunch while I was in Chicago for a business trip. Not a huge fan. I got a turkey sandwich and soup. The broccoli cheese soup was really good but the sandwich was just blah.

I have been trying to find a new go-to sandwich place for months now. I recently moved to the Naperville area, and having to go to the usual places has been killing me — Subway smells bad, Jimmy John’s is all cold ‘wiches and the sub I love at Jersey Mike’s has to be packed with cals. Enter Spicy Pickle: YUM. The only word to describe it. The Bandido is absolutely phenomenal. Pepper turkey, pepper jack, red peppers, chipotle mayo… see a theme? This ‘wich is spicy(just like the pickle — yep, they really do serve spicy pickles here). The Northend is also really really(that’s two really’s) delicious. Roast beef, cheddar, horseradish mayo, peppers and then all the fixin’s on marble rye… so good. Another awesome thing about Spicy Pickle? Their sides. You get to choose from either pasta salad or orange slices. Those two options rock. Way better than the typical fries or chips. I probably wouldn’t try their salads, but I did try their Loaded Baked Potato soup and that was really good too. I can’t wait to go back and fill up my «Buy 5 Get the 6th Free!» card. It’s not as cheap as some places, but for the quality and taste, I’d pick this place over any others. The paninis are around $ 7 – 8 each — though they are pretty big.

Nice clean establishment that sells beer and wine. Also have a nice TV for the game. Ordered the«Santa Cruz’ which is Roasted turkey, cheddar cheese, EVOO chipotle mayo, avocado, corn relish, lettuce and tomato served on Ciabatta. The corn relish really enhances the sandwich.

A great concept. I’ve been here twice. I really liked the spicy pickles… The salad was awesome… The soup was pretty tasty… The fresh bread… yum. The staff is friendly and willing to make accomodations and changes to menu items in order to satisfy the customer. The speed at which my meal But the panini left something to be desired… I guess when I order a hot sandwhich, I’m expecting that all of the ingrediends will be warm or hot, even. This was not the case with my panini. The meat and cheese were mostly warm, but the veggies were cool and crisp. When I order a panini, I’m not expecting to crunch into anything except maybe the bread. The innerts should be soft and delicious… Not my favorite sandwich. So I may go back if I’m in the area, but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to try it again.

If I could give half stars, I’d give Spicy Pickle a 3.5. I enjoy coming here as I live only 2 minutes away and their carry out is like, super deee duper quick. However, I’m not TOTALLY impressed with the quality of the food. I usually get a combo, which I think is the best bang for the buck. The salads are enjoyable but the dressing is ehhh. I did really enjoy the new avocado and turkey sandwich they just added to the menu. What I have found, is when you walk in the door, there is automatic pressure to know what you want immediately. The staff will stand and stare at you if you are not ready. that’s ok and all, but I think I have forced myself into a decision I may have not made if I took more time. Either way– the place is worth a try. I do think the price could make more sense for what you get, but these days, sandwiches are at least $ 5 and up. I do recommend this place if you are in a hurry, literally, I can’t believe how quickly they get you in and out.

I looooove Spicy Pickle! Their sandwiches are awesome! I have not had one yet that I just though«eh». Soups are great too… and I have yet to order a salad because the soup and sandwich combo is so great… but its on my list to do! And yes, you do get a spicy pickle… so good! :) The ONLY reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I feel like its not open late enough. I work until 8p in the city and I pass it on my way back home. It always sounds sooo good after working a 12 hour day but its never open at that time of night.

Since I’m not a fan of spicy food I pretty much ignored this place since it opened. Decided to stop today because my husband wanted a hearty sandwich and we are officially Panera’d out. I was happy to see standard panini options. I ordered half the turkey, feta and artichoke with a bowl of chicken soup. The soup was kind of cold but tasty. The panini was nice and hot, melty, great bread and the pickle was divine. I know, I’m not a fan of spicy food but this little wedge was the perfect amount of sour and kick. The service was friendly, they have vegan options and the décor is kind of cool. Definitely worth another visit.

Spicy Pickle is THEBEST sandwich place. I have had almost everything, hot and cold sandwiches and a salad or two.(working down the street doesn’t hurt!!) I have yet to be disappointed with anything from the service to the food. I’ve had the Bronx, Englishman, Bandido, Santa Cruz, Yard Bird and a few bites of a couple other sandwiches. Everything is fresh, the bread is never too hard, even as a panini and the pickles amazing. I always forget how spicy they are until that first bite. I tell everyone I can to go to the Spicy Pickle!!!

I had been extremely curious about this place for some time, since I love spicy food and pickles. One day when headed down to the south side to catch a Sox game, my bf and I stopped here for a quick bite. Naturally, we both ordered the Southside, roast beef with the usual toppings and horseradish mayo. It was pretty good– not fantastic. The peppers added a nice kick and it was grilled perfectly for a nice amount of crunch, pretty typical as far as pricing(w/drinks we spent around $ 20)The space itself was extremely empty, the staff was real nice but I was a little taken back by the fact that apparently they wear PJ pants? I don’t know, it just looks sloppy but it doesn’t really matter. I’d go here again if I was hungry for a sandwich while in the area, but it was less than earth shattering.

It was alright. Very crowded on a weekday at lunch. Got my standard cheese sandwich, which was way overpriced. The bread was crisp, which I actually liked. Was I supposed to get a pickle with my sandwich? Because I didn’t. I’ll get it if I’m starving, because it’s close to my apt. But I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here.

I came back and tried a «South Side» hot roast beef panini sandwich. Wow, that might have been the skimpiest sandwich I’ve had in a long time — one slice of beef on each half. I gave them two stars based only on the freshness of ingredients.

Think Panera Bread, but a little cooler and a little dirtier. You can grab a sandwich, soup or salad(or pick two) and they’ve got some pretty inventive sandwiches. I got The Sinker which is basically a tuna sub with a little spice to it. It was really good and I’d definitely get it again. Boyfriend got the Englishman and looooved it. Oh! And the spicy pickles are AWESOME and worth coming for those alone!

Hunger pangs be bygones at the helm of a spicy pickle. The fourth quadrant wasn’t even ready to be opened but I was hungry for sure and coffee just wasn’t cuttin’ it. Sandwich shops usually get me with the veggie packed treat except some part of my stomach was screaming like a raging 3 year old on the verge of a total meltdown and wanted something with a little zing. The menu is pretty impressive for a sandwich/soup stop with just the right amount of selections but I don’t indulge on meat anymore so my choices are limited to Tuna or Veggie. The«Garden State’ was tempting with all the mixed veg and portabella mushrooms? but after the gal at the register told me about the spiced picked relish on the tuna, I was on board so I ordered up and waited for my order to be called. It’s nice to have a sandwich shop different from the subways and quiznos of the world where there are 100 different types of breads and everything is toasted. Simplicity y’all, let’s keep it easygoing for all of us indecisive folks. Sammies.Football.Beer. A prime obsession for some, a time killer for others. I ordered to go because I was soaked and really wanted to dash home and do nothing but take a hot shower and then curl up on the couch but the eatery is comfortable and completely open to want to stay and sit in and enjoy a frosty beverage and a game. The Sammie was alright, I totally did not expect that extra kick the relish gave the tuna. And to top it off a nicely packaged spicy pickle anxiously awaited for me to devour it. Well done, if I have a hankering for baked deliciousness with fresh produce less than $ 10 you know where to find me. 3 stars though for the location, I feel bad that Spicy Pickle sits a little far out and in the middle of an up and coming shopping center because it would be a regular stopping ground if it were in a more trafficked area.

The actual food is awesome. I scarfed that vegetarian sandwich down like some kind of zombie in 28 days later. I see they’re opening some in chicago and that makes me excited! I recall opening up the package(I got veggie sandwich on ciabatta) and thinking«why is it called the Spicy Pickle? hmmm… that’s strange» Then voila! out rolls a lovely looking pickle. I pop it in my mouth and oh em gee! It was spiceeeeeeey! LOVED it! They deserve a star just for actually calling the shots on that awesome restaurant title. I’m hoping they hire some better employees, as the uninterested teenagers couldn’t help me when I asked questions and didn’t even tell me my order was up. They just set it there on the counter, and it waited all alone for my hungry mouth. But order to go, and get some extra spicy pickles!!! I just want to chomp on a jar of those babies.

It seems like as they are gaining a following, they are starting to slack in certain areas. I have waited as long as 20 minutes to get a couple of sandwiches. Also, the ladies at the register are not always pleasant to talk to. And, they are now charging extra for mushrooms on a sandwich. That would be fine, except that all build-your-own sandwiches are the same price($ 6.95) and I get the veggie sandwich. Why wouldn’t a veggie sandwich come with mushrooms for free? Mushrooms are certainly cheaper than meat. Plus on top of it, they forget to put the spicy pickle on my plate the majority of the time.

I create my own every time I am here. Kind of like a better version of Panera. Vegetable soup delicious, sandwiches are filling and its a nice atmosphere. I love to pile the veggies on my sandwich here.

I’m wavering between 3 and 4. Usually I’ll side on the over but at nearly $ 8 for a sub, I’m landing on 3… but making a footnote that I’d go back, try something else, and give the likely upgrade to 4 stars. I got the Garden State, because it’s vegetarian and I felt a little internal pressure going with the build.your.own, as I’m not a good chef… even if it’s only in the conception stages. Next time, I think I’ll be ready to make a sub that more suits my tastes. The Garden State sub was okay but not great. It’s served on an extra thick Ciabatta roll, which would be great on a meatball sub or something gooey, but on a vegetarian sandwich, there weren’t strong enough flavors in the fillers to make the sandwich taste like anything more than lots of ciabatta and wetness from the inner ingredients. The mozzarella is fresh but it didn’t have any flavor and the veggies inside weren’t nice and crisp with good crunch, they were sort of soggy and all wet, as if they had been defrosting. The girl at the counter was really friendly and the sandwich was speedily made. And though I didn’t get anything to drink, they offer soda and bottles of beer that are really nominally priced… like if their beer prices were at a bar in Naperville, they’d be packed every night. I would probably go back if I were hungry and in the neighborhood. Next time I’d defo get a little daring and and go with a build my own sub.

We saw a ton of these places last summer in Denver(where it turns out they’re based), but never had a chance to indulge, so when a Spicy Pickle popped up in Naperville I figured I’d have to check it out. My mom and I went for lunch today. It’s on 59 a bit north of the mall madness, but still had a hearty crowd at lunch hour. We’d perused the menu online previously(you actually have to choose which location you’re looking for on the web site and it shows you its menu accordingly), so I was primed and ready to try their she-crab soup, which I’d seen on the menu, but when we got there it wasn’t on the menu board at all. My next choice was the corn and green chile bisque, which was on the menu board, but the girl at the register said they didn’t have that today. Ooo-kay… I ended up doing the Double Dilly-Yo(½ Sandwich or Salad with Soup for under $ 7), choosing the Loaded Baked Potato Soup and half the Yard Bird sub. My mom did the same with the potato soup and Santa Cruz sub. The delivery system needs a bit of tweaking, clearly. They take your name at the register and say they’ll bring the food to your table, but of course the person taking your order is not the one bringing it to your table, so there is no face recognition going on. God bless the poor harried woman running from table to table with a receipt and a tray full of food asking, «Are you Annie? Are you Annie?“and so on. They either need Panera-style pagers or a number system as at many other fast-casual places, because this was just plain inefficient, though the woman stuck with this duty was very sweet and doing her best. The«Loaded» baked potato soup wasn’t really loaded, I have to say. No cheese or green onion, and it wasn’t terribly warm. Decent flavor though. My sub was quite good: excellent wheat bread, roasted chicken, chunks of green apples and a little blue cheese, a bit more honey mustard than I would have liked but not overwhelming. My mom liked her sub, full of avocado, corn relish and veggies; she too thought that the soup was a bit bland and needed to be warmer as well. This all also came with a chunk of good bread and that eponymous spicy pickle. Which really was spicy: garlicky, sour and then full-on spice. I’ve never had a pickle like it. The pickle theme works its way into the décor as well: big collaged pickle jars decorate the walls, the green glass light fixtures vaguely echo a pickle jar shape, and the rust and avocado colors evoke a brined vegetable color scheme. The table setups were a little weird: a lot of big communal tables, not too many smaller arrangements. Overall, I’ll surely return to the Spicy Pickle; good food at a nice price. There were other things on the menu that I’d like to try(assuming they’re truly available…).
