In terms of food, this place is amazing. The Al Pastor tacos are stuffed and I feel full after just two! Orders also come with two small cups of guacamole which is absolutely delicious as well. A downside to me though is that it does not come with hot sauce and I’m not sure if they have any. Another downside is that I have had troubles since I do not speak Spanish, that there is this one lady that always has to hand the phone over to someone else because she doesn’t understand me. The price is around $ 2.50 a taco, which is not bad at all. A tip is to make sure you order your tacos ahead of time because you may end up waiting longer than you’d like.

Following a tip from a friend who lives in Golden Gate(who said this place was the bee’s knees for Mexican in the area), we stopped in on a Saturday afternoon around 1:30 to grab some lunch. Thought it would be quick, but we watched numerous people come in and grab their orders while we stood and waited for 20+ minutes. I think the secret here is to call-in and order ahead. We ordered chicken tacos(tamales were sold out that day) and they were flat-out GOOD: Cooked to order and served traditionally with shredded meat, onions, cilantro, and wrapped in doubled-up corn tortillas. We also got salsa aguacate and chips, both of which were delicious and seemed fresh. English is not the predominant language spoken here, so you may want to come prepared with your high school or college Spanish knowledge!

A small dive in Golden Gate, off the Blvd. Unpretentious as it caters to the locals with their inexpensive lunches and dinners. You basically get a bunch for around $ 6.00. As you enter, you are greeted immediately and a simple English or simple Spanish will get the point across. The menu is hand written on the walls or on taped pieces of colored paper. There is a small grocery feel with Jarritos and plenty of snacks or sweets to choose from. But I am returning for tacos. They offer tamales and tacos mostly. It’s a little over two bucks and a typical variety. They are a bit dry sometimes but they are classic and they grill the onions along with the meats and that may make them so. I like the carnitas, pastor and bistec… soft corn tortillas with plenty of cilantro and a decent amount of grilled onions. These tacos have plenty of weight to them. They come with lime and several sauces. Both green and red are good. The wait will have you seeing quite a few orders being picked up. The TV is a dust collecting no show. The guys in the back are working their butts off. I like the place and will return many a time over. This is takeout only. The two seats are for waiters, not for those who need waiters. When you get home, pop open a Corona and use one of the many limes given to you. When life gives you limes… Drink Corona!
