Ordered, «Italian Hero» today. Very large, will go back and try more, as this looks like a very nice store. Give it a try.

We’ve been customers of Neapolitan Gourmet for as many years as it’s been open. Vinnie, Joe and the others provided superb food and service. We are particularly fond of the mozzarella they make every morning(I watched Joe make it one day) and their fresh sausage, but frankly have enjoyed all the products we have bought there. A better selection of breads would be nice but otherwise no complaints.

Ok, I stopped in late one day and they were closing. A nice jovial gentleman was cleaning the floors and I asked if it was too late to order something. He said, «no, I’m Vinny and this is my place». I brought home some homemade meatballs and arinicini?(rice balls). We talked about great subs in Naples. I told him that Capriotti’s had a great one. He said some day you come in and I’ll make you the best sub anywhere. So a year later I stopped by. vinnie wasn’t there but Joey was. I thought I’d wait another day for Vinnie but all the people were ordering a special ‘hero’ sandwich: Imported Prosciutto de Parma with homemade mozzarella and roasted red peppers on a LOAF of crusty bread. I watched and was amazed as to the quality and quantity of the sandwich. All who ordered said that is all they eat. So of course I ordered the Italian Hero. Joey said he could make it better than Vinnie. With salami; sopressata; capicola; mortedalla and pepperoni. Plus provolone — shredded lettuce, tomatoes, paper thin red onions plus oil and vinegar. The large was $ 9(the half was $ 6). Brought it home and was somehow able to eat just ½. OMG! it was the best sub sandwich ever. Deliscioso. Had to come back 4 days later and Vinnie was there. He said I had to try what everyone else was ordering: the parma prosciutto, fresh mozzerella, and roasted peppers. Had to weigh 3 pounds. Brought it home and my wife and I barelyfinished that one sandwich. The cheese and peppers are extra but worth it. What a wonderful discovery. Plus they make brasciole(perfectly); lasagna; sausage; meatballs(great); pasta and desserts in the freezer. Also they have their own homemade sauces. You can go to Italy or just go to the Bed Bath center and walk a little north of the entrance. Say hi to Vinnie, Joey and Tommy. Tell them Skip The Burgermaven sent you.
