I hope the new Publix will be as awesome as the old one. The staff was so nice, always smiling and very helpful. Can’t wait!

It is closed. Next nearest us on radio road and Santa Barbara Ave. spent nearly 20 minutes looking for it — then saw it was at the very least closed for renovation — although the signs were that it was closed for good. Make sure you remove it from the list.

Every time I come into this Publix I think I’ve stepped back in time to 1986 or something. The bakery has half the selection of the one on Radio Rd and as I walk down the tiny aisles I feel myself avoiding hit-and-runs or head on collisions with octogenerians as they wield their carriages full of prune juice and extra strength colon blow cereal. I agree with the other reviewer. I swear. Publix gets some kind of sick and twisted delight in putting the slooooowest cashier on Express so that I find myself standing in line for 20 minutes to buy a soda as the uppity crab in front of me writes a check and demands ‘double paper in plastic’. By the time I once again reach the outdoors, my car and fashion have gone out and come back into style at least twice. Just sayin.

This is the Publix location I shop at 99% of the time, mostly out of convenience(it’s right near where I live). The supermarket is clean, selection is decent The produce section leaves something to be desired… compared to other local supermarkets, including another Publix five minutes away on Santa Barbara, there isn’t as great a selection and it’s not nearly as fresh. I’m guessing it has to do with the turnover this store has(probably not as busy as others). The main reason for only giving a 3-star rating — so many of the cashiers at this place are SOOOOOOSLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. It’s a regular occurrence that they put the slowest friggin’ cashier they have in the«express» lane. You get one that’s too chatty, moving way too slow, or a combination of both. I appreciate the fact that some of them want to be cordial, but sometimes you just want to get your stuff and get the hell out of there. This problem doesn’t seem to exist at most of the other Publix locations around here… don’t know what it is about this one.

I imagine that when most kids growing up in New England dream of visiting Florida it has something to do with Disney or exotic marine life or the plethora of pawnshops lining the boulevards. While sea cows and the concept of bail bondsmen certainly caught my interest, it was Publix Super Markets that kept me coming back for more. Publix is the best chain grocery store I’ve found for the following reasons: –Immaculately clean –Friendly/helpful employees –Awesome bakery(tiramisu = best eva) –Huge variety of fresh produce –Bourbon salmon + seafood counter employees willing to call me when it comes in –On-site and perma-available butchers to patiently answer my silly questions –Delicious made-to-order subs and sammies from the deli –Rotisserie chickens available in multiple flavors –Cooking demonstrations –No-ad sunscreen(which we have in the NE now, but traditionally did not.) –Smiley, 77yo grocery baggers –Help to the car if needed d/t old age, disability, multiple children, laziness, whatevs –High quality with low prices If I could live here, I would. Not just in Southwest Florida. In this Publix. For real.
