My corned beef was too salty. Sever didn’t come back so I could ask for a water refill. Server didn’t ask if I wanted chips or slaw. I thought it came with both until I only got chips and checked the menu. I would have preferred slaw. My grandmother asked for a burger as rare as they could make it. It came at least medium, if not medium well. We asked to upgrade her chips to fries. They charged us for a small side of fries(but she didn’t get chips or slaw).

A minor clarification. The extra star is for an earnest friendly staff plus value and nostalgia. Favorites are steak sandwich, chili, prime rib, and the bar. Not a cookie cutter Applebee’s, but an authentic, challenged bar. In Texas we call these bars, intercontinental, not a fern bar but the stools have seatbelts, So strap yourself in and enjoy the journey. The caring staff will call you a «cab», good tip or even a «flake» bad tip. Current stars are Kimmy and Natasha

I went here with my parents when I was in town visiting. Spankys offers the typical diner feel with collectible memorabilia, lots of seating and quick service. The menu isn’t too expansive, but the options are good. We all had the burgers and they did not disappoint. I would go back again for a good meal and good service.

We had a great experience at Spankys. The food was delicious! They were packed, but the service was excellent. Our waitress was Wanda, and she was very efficient. We would definitely go back.

It’s a bar. They have food, but it’s a bar. «Taco salad» was lettuce with chili and a few shreds of cheese. I can only recommend eating here if you’ve already been drinking.

I’ve been going to Spanky’s for about 17 years as we have a vacation home in Naples. We’ve enjoyed early bird dining & frequented rather regularly even during non-early bird during our time coming to Naples. However, since the restaurant has changed hands it’s not the same place. I’ve been there twice this week and both times left fairly disappointed and have decided that moving forward we will be scratching it off our list. The prime-rib was overly fatty and it was overly salty, which is common when the quality of meat is in question. Before, the prime-rib was always worth the trip and something I looked forward too. I even felt compelled to tell the waitress my dissatisfaction & she acted like I didn’t even say it. The fresh vegetable medley has been replaced by frozen mixed vegetables mix with lima beans The chicken used to be a good sized chicken breast portion & tender & now it was tough and chewy and looked like a small chicken breast butterflied & grilled. The baked potato was even dried out & tasteless. The prices have increased significantly & it seems that the cook that seemed to roll out the master dishes consistently before, now doesn’t have what it takes. If you’re a northern transplant like me — don’t waste your money. For three of us we had the early bird, drank water & the bill was $ 47. When we left we felt ripped off — we had the same early bird at Shula’s for less and had a quality piece of Prime Rib for just $ 9.99. Spankys is not the same establishment it was — save your money and go somewhere else. I will give this place a year or less — if you can’t keep the locals happy or the part time locals happy, there is no hope. Flipping over the menu and jacking up the prices right out of the gate will be your demise — as is changing cooks. You’ve officially gotten my last dollar.

Prime Rib night came through again. Tender tasty prime rib, baker, popover, with horseradish sauce and great au jus. Salad bar is nice — veggies, spring or romaine mix, homemade dressings, and protien-laden bonuses like an excellent tuna/pasta/peas salad, and things like garbanzos and pickled beets. Service is consistently great, and prices quite reasonable. Several people near us tried the mussels, and they looked excellent.

It always surprises me if someone says they like Spanky’s. It’s an outdated tourist trap. Basically canned soup in the salad bar and not much of a selection to make a salad. For the price it’s definitely not worth it. My dad swears they put msg in the lettuce to make you fill up faster. I believe him for some reason, either that or the salad bar is so bad you don’t even want to bother going up for 2nds. Nice view of a canal and tamiami ford though.

Decent food — fast and friendly service. Ate lunch outside overlooking the canal — my party of five enjoyed their sandwiches.

It’s no 5 star place but take it for what it is. It’s a kitschy bar atmosphere with simple food. I felt compelled to write something after all these 1 star negative reviews. Our waitress was a sweetheart. We sat outside overlooking the canal. My boss got a Blt and I got a grilled cheese w fries. Nothing crazy. Good came quick and hot and was good. Nice staff, nice view, decent food. Really cute décor. You’ll feel like you are in a time warp.

Been meaning to try this place for a long time. Went to Spanky’s tonight for the first time. Never again. Had to wait 45+ mins after ordering for our food(all broiled selections) I ordered the Grouper special for $ 21.95. it was terrible, didn’t look like grouper in any way. Looked like someone put a piece of Carp in a Panini press. Politely let my waitress know twice that I was not fond of it, but she did and said absolutely nothing. Finally I said«could I please have some tartar sauce, maybe that would make it taste better» she brought me tartar sauce and then ran off. It’s like she didn’t want to have anything to do with anyone who didn’t like their food. We paid and left. They’re were four in our party, no one was really happy with their meal. The soup tasted good but was as thick as wall paper paste, the salad bar looked like it had seen better days, the alfredo sauce on the pasta was an insult to Italians everywhere. The only good thing anyone at our table complimented on was the baked sweet potato. I repeat, Never Again! terry Naples/Chicago

Not the worst restaurant I’ve been to. Hit and miss at best. Rice has got to be out of a box. Had the«blackened» basa which was in a word, horrible. Pleasant staff and a nice kitschy décor(if you’re into that sort of thing). Kitchen could use some cooking classes. Better places to spend your money.

Great dinner out with the family. We enjoyed the nice salad bar, 3 of us had the prime rib which was awesome and the service was outstanding. We come every time we are in town and are never disappointed.

Kitschy décor. Smells like a bar because… it’s a bar! I had a steak sandwich, and it was good. My wife had a blackened fish sandwich. It was very buttery. Kids had hot dogs. It gets three stars because the food was only ok.

My wife had the salad bar I ordered the grilled cheese with tomato ham and bacon by time my cold grilled cheese came out with a bunch of crumbled up stale chips my wife had eaton two bowls of soup and two trips to the salad bar. The cheese was not even melted and the ham and tomato were cold. A grilled cheese made proper should be melted together and to hot to eat when it gets to your table. If I owned a restaurant that served chips with the sandwich they would be freshly made to order not stale and crushed as though someone sat on the bag. I will try it again the soup and salad bar looked good as soon as I saw my meal i wished I had ordered that instead UPDATEDJUNE2015 new owners we went in for the soup and salad bar it was great saw a customer order the pastrami sandwich I’m going back for that

I hadn’t eaten at Spanky’s for several years before I decided to revisit this place the other night. It was bad right from the get-go. There were four other parties seated. It took ten minutes for us to even get a server to come to our table. She brought us menus and took our drink orders. Took another eternity to get our drinks, and we all asked for water — the simplest drink of all time. When she came back to take our orders, I had a couple quick questions about two menu items that I was between. She wouldn’t even let me get out my sentences! She interrupted me EVERYTIME I opened my mouth. It was absolutely maddening. She takes down our orders, and yet again, it takes an abnormally long time to get to the table. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich. The chicken was of acceptable quality. The bottom bun of my sandwich, however, was so soggy that I was unable to actually pick up the sandwich to eat it. It was so wet and mushy that it was falling apart. Disgusting. It took another ten minutes for me to flag down the server and ask for another bun. Meanwhile my companions are halfway through their meals. I showed her the bun and how it was literally falling apart on my plate, and she reacted with a really nasty attitude, as if it was my fault and I shouldn’t be bothering her. By the time I finally had an edible sandwich, everyone else was done with their food, and what I had of mine was cold. Overall, we were there for nearly two hours, and I feel like I paid too much money for rude service and mediocre(at best) food. The only thing I still like about Spanky’s is all the neat little knick knacks all over the walls. Everything else about my visit was garbage. To top it all off, I felt sick to my stomach for several hours after leaving. Not going back.

After 10 years since last eating at Spanky’s, we decided to give it a go once more. Just for old times sake and to bring back some fond memories of meals gone by. We should have left those memories alone. The reality was a bland, overcooked monstrosity they passed off as a meal. Baked potatoes hard and cracked as if left in the microwave too long. Pasta soggy and starchy. Alfredo sauce straight from a jar. Chicken breasts unseasoned and rubbery. Even the tuna on the salad bar tastes rancid and says old. Some memories are best left as just that. Reliving them might be harmful to your health. Or at least your intestinal fortitude. Avoid.
