The Club at Mediterra in Naples, Florida presents two Tom Fazio designed golf courses. The club has about 450 members for 36 holes, so tee times are are easy for members. Verona is the top neighborhood where luxury homes are better referred to as estates on over-sized lots. The Sports Center is also favored by residents. The member facilities include just about everything. The community also has a beach club on Bonita Beach.

This is an elegant community of estate homes with an Italianate Clubhouse. Today was a luncheon for a large group. The chef offered a choice between three entrees. My salmon filet was encrusted with pecan and sweeeet. It was plated with braised squash, and brown rice speckled with finely cut carrots turned into a timbale and out on to the plate for a lovely presentation. Club service was at its’ quick best. A first signt for me, and an outright surprise btw — was the addition of white cotton gloves to the obligatory white over black attire on each server. This suggested to me that this Club is about to throw it all back to the antebellum South(uh oh, danger. You can’t be serious?!). Or there’s a Micky Mouse fan in charge in the Club’s catering office. I mean, com’on. Touching a plate is touching a plate, whether it’s with bare hands or with gardening gloves gone bad.
