Over the weekend I was in Naples visiting family and friends, some what a family reunion. So excited for a fun weekend… Until I met Candy! My 15 year niece just received her driving permit so I had her drive me around town to help with some errands. When I tried to purchase a couple of 12 packs of beer from your store I was asked for my ID and so was my niece. I laughed and explained that she was only 15… and did not have an ID, no 15 year old does. I was shocked and embarrassed when Candy refused to sell to me. I’m 42 years old, what’s the problem. Is this a State Law? She said no it was store policy. Being completely embarrassed and shocked I asked for more information. She said this is not your daughter and I will not sell to you. Was Candy suggesting that I was going to buy this alcohol for a 15 year old? Would it have been any different if my 75 year father would have been in the store with her? I asked to speak to the manager and she smiled(sarcastically) and said your talking to the manger. I then asked her name and she smiled again(sarcastically) and said my name is Candy. Well… I left with out a fight… went down the street to Public’s and bought my booze there, along with Steaks and Burgers for the party. No issues, No questions, No smart comments from staff. I also told this story to my family and friends and asked them not to go to your store as the way I was treated by Candy was just wrong. Again, I’m a clean cut, straight as they come 42 year old gentleman, I had not been drinking or acting in any strange way. There was nothing I did to make Candy refuse to sell to me. And I am completely dumbfounded at the fact that I can not go to a liquor store with my 15 year old niece to buy beer. I have never spent the time to leave a negative comment about an employee, but this lady was just over the top.

Looks like they got the start up issues worked out and it’s a smooth running operation. The quality is not quite Publix but the variety and prices are better. The workers are pleasant enough and they staff all the registers on the weekend so you can get out quickly. The produce is hit or miss and better at publix. The deli carries Dietz and Watson as well as their own brands. The bakery is better than Publix. Don’t mind coming here when in the area.

This location is one of many bought from Sweetbay. While this store was great in the past, the new management has completely ruined this place. Deli food has become tasteless, in many causes almost inedible. I would avoid the deli subs at all costs. Customer service is nonexistent and much produce is overly ripe or bruised. One can safely say, Winn-Dixie has successfully destroyed what was once a great place to buy groceries.
