Delicious! Spanish fries were great — crispy despite being smothered in cheese and onions. My wife and I both got cutlet sandwiches, and they were both great. Very friendly staff and great atmosphere. A real neighborhood gem.

Occasionally I order lunch from here and their cutlet sandwiches are sooooo good! The cutlets are fried up just like my mom and grandma make them. And they’re served up on delicious crusty Italian bread. The sandwiches are pricey, they take a while to make, and they have a $ 10 card minimum, BUT the sandwiches are worth it every once in a while. I wish I could afford to eat here more often! :}

I’ve only had lunch here so I can’t attest for dinner. The sandwiches I’ve had were very good, I agree with another review that said they are the best sandwiches on the main line. I agree(DiBruno’s would come in a close 2nd but they’re ridiculously overpriced). The people who work here are very nice. Service can be slow. The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is because I do find it to be overpriced as other Unilocalers have said, particularly for dinner which is why we’ve never gone. Granted this is Narberth where you can overcharge and people don’t mind but due to this it’s not in my regular rotation. If I was wealthy it definitely would be.

Went for lunch. Pretty good sandwiches but«best on the main line» claims are a little bit much. Overpriced to be sure. We got the Spanish fries too. That was a mistake. $ 7 for soggy lukewarm mush.

My wife and I eat at homemade on a weekly basis. As other reviews accurately point out, the chicken cutlet sandwiches are fantastic and enough for two meals, but do not hesitate to stray from these and try their steak, eggplant or veggie sandwich as they are equally impressive and delicious. They have expanded their dinner menu and have a frequently changing list of specials. Over the last two years they have also been investing in the restaurant experience by upgrading the inside and the décor. While still a small restaurant, it is a quaint and great neighborhood restaurant. Beth and Lou(the owners) are great people and make the in dining experience feel like you are having dinner at their place.

Went for dinner with my husband and was very impressed by the delcious food and attentive service! We split mussels in red sauce as an appetizer and they were well-prepared and tasty. I had the Porcini Sacchetti(melt-in-your-mouth and very flavor-packed — can’t wait to go back for these again) and my husband had the Chicken Parm which he was very pleased with. It was a nice night so we were able to snag a table outside which really added to the overall wonderful experience. Prices were also beyond reasonable. We’ve had a very hard time finding a neighborhood gem like this since moving to Ardmore as most places seem to elevate prices to compete on the Main Line, but Homemade is able to stay reasonably priced while still serving stellar food which is such a find! Can’t wait to return!

Cannot recommend. Rolls were day-old & chicken in sandwich rubbery like it was heated in a microwave. Was looking forward to trying because of the reviews but was very disappointed.

I completely fell off the gluten wagon to have a sandwich at this place … and it was worth the relapse ! Went here for my birthday lunch today with a dear friend. Got the chicken cutlet sandwich with broccoli rabe and provolone. Cherry peppers on the side to add in. Melted in my mouth. Heaven in a bun. Excellent iced tea … didn’t require any sweetener, just that good ! Service was SO pleasant, attentive. Felt totally taken care of. Would absolutely return here !

Homemade is one of those places that makes me wish desperately for Unilocal to allow ½ stars. *sigh* The Rev. Dr. Steak and I popped in for lunch. The restaurant is smaller, casually decorated with serviceable 2 top tables that were arranged also as 4 tops and could be combined for larger as well. There is a small outdoor seating area on the sidewalk but no shade/awning for it. The Rev. ordered the brisket sandwich, which he proclaimed ‘meh’, just OK, nothing to write home about. I had the chicken salad hoagie, which was very tasty, lots of chicken, red grapes, walnuts, not over-mayonaissed and with fantastic BREAD. This place *gets* the value of good honest dense chewy bread’s value in the hoagie, people. I love that. The surprise? The French Fries. Crispy, yet soft inside. Savory, with just the right amount of salt These are the fries of my youth, the fries from before the Invasion of the Battered Fries. The fries of my dreams. We could go there, have a basket of those fries and be happy. So, on the fence between 3 and 4 stars I’m rounding up. You just don’t find fries like these many places anymore. *sigh*

Five stars for food, friendliness, location, price and it is BYO. We held a wine dinner at Homemade. Beth, Lou and staff were great. Everyone was extremely happy with the food. I had an amazing bowl of mussels in a really tangy white sauce. I love lots of lemon and this had it. Followed by outstanding eggplant parm. Really crispy eggplant and a rich, tomato sauce. We just had homemade biscotti for dessert and they were excellent. The gnocchi with porcini was light and my wife said they were also delicious. During lunch-time this is a sandwich haven. I love the meatball subs. This is a gem of a neighborhood restaurant — but it is worth seeking out even if you have to travel. And you can stroll around Narb! There is a beer carryout spot up the street that has a great selection and a PA monopoly state store across the street if you don’t have wine from someplace else. Bring a good barolo — goes will with the great food and personal service. This is a small room — nothing fancy. You will probably need reservations most evenings.

A true neighborhood gem in Narberth, Homemade is a friendly,(thanks to Beth, Lou and everyone else) Italian restaurant with great food! I’ve eaten here for both lunch and dinner and think it’s better than places far more expensive. Service is warm, efficient and spot-on. My whole family goes here and God forbid my sister should go and not invite me. I recently had the Eggplant Parmesan and left trying to figure out how it was so crispy good with both sauce and cheese on it. Actually, I don’t need to know, it was just luscious. The Milan salad is to die for and BETTER than the original. Another wonderful dish is the Porcini Sacchetti, a melt in your mouth pasta dish. The prices are very good, the food is homemade and delicious along with it being a BYO, what could be better?

Probably the best sandwich place in the area, although there isn’t much competition. Homemade uses nice, seeded rolls for their sandwiches, always a plus. Their provolone has a good bite and the peppers have a nice kick. Their chicken cutlets are above average, but sometimes taste a little too«fried.» The cheesesteaks are solid too. This place has quite a few options for sandwiches. I have never had it, but their dinner menu looks good too. It is a BYO with several pastas and chicken dishes, among other things. Good option for a sandwich in the Narberth, Ardmore, Wynnewood, Merion area.

When I was at Ricklin’s Hardware in Narberth I wanted to find a quick sandwich place nearby. I saw Homemade on Unilocal with its rave reviews, and the Ricklin’s employee said it was very good, but a bit slow since they cook to order. I was a bit worried about how long it would take, but when I ordered my chicken cutlet with provolone and spinach sub and got it 5 minutes later, I was impressed. The sub was delicious, and big. I only ate half of it and gave the other half to my sister-in-law. The only reason I’m not giving Homemade 5 stars is because it’s a limited menu and isn’t really a take out lunch place; it’s more of a tiny sit-down place that does take out, and it’s a little pricey to frequent as a regular lunch joint. My cutlet sub was $ 9.50, which is reasonable for how much food it was, but too much to spend on lunch on a regular basis! I would love to try them for dinner some time(though the menu isn’t inexpensive).

Homemade isn’t lying on their menu, or on the sign outside the shop; it’s HOME-MADE alright, every wonderful item of food on the menu is HOME-MADE, and made with lots and lots of love by Beth & Lou Amadio along with various family members and friends. This li’l gem of a sandwich shop in Narberth is like a diamond in the rough. It’s spotlessly clean, cute as a postage stamp,(LOVE the framed poster listing the towns along the Main-Line Rail Road that make up the modern day«Main Line»), and the food is To Die For, possibly even, To Kill For, LOL. Favorites at lunch are the brisket sandwich,(so tender, it falls apart) — huge portion & filling so be prepared to D-Bag it; The Cutlet-Bella’s Way, and the meatball sandwich, made with real South Philly style«red gravy»(that’s tomato sauce for all of you«MEDI-GANZZZZZ», LOL). They are NOW serving dinner and the Egglant Parmigiana is AB-SO-LUTE-LY the BEST I have EVER tasted, the mussels are Fabulous done spicy in red, and the Chicken Harvey’s Way is also fantastic. The Staff is soo wonderfully nice, friendly, and welcoming I always feel as if I am in my own home ready to sit down and have a meal. Most Important of all: You MUST, ABSOLUTELYMUST, try the MILAN Salad. It is(please don’t tell Tony or Chico, LOL) probably the BEST I’ve ever had, MAY even be better than the ORIGINAL at Jimmy’s Milan, way back when. This Salad, if you are a Milan Salad lover(jumbo shrimp, REAL bacon, egg, & a blend of Russian dressing et je né sais quoi) is one that you will find yourself CRAVING, so much so that you may be rushing through lunch or dinner-time traffic just to get to Homemade and have one. Try it. You will LOVE it!!! And you’ll be returning for another and another. And you will MOSTDEFINITELYLOVE, LOVE, LOVE Homemade Sandwich Shop, a Little Bit of Heaven in Narberth, Pa.

My wife regularly orders the veggie sandwich for lunch from the Homemade Sandwich Shop, so I decided to give them a try over the weekend. The place has a nice home café feel to it, and they have tables outside as well. When you walk in, you can take a seat and place your order, or you can place your order to go. They make everything fresh to order, so there’s a bit of a wait, but it’s worth it. We ordered the Spanish fries(caramelized onions, jalapenos, and cheddar), the Eggplant Parmesan sandwich, and the Brisket sandwich. The fries were excellent — lots of fresh onion and jalapeño slices. The Eggplant Parmesan was far better than any other pizza or sandwich shop in the area could provide. The eggplant flavor was so fresh and delicious. And, the Brisket was also outstanding(fresh, tender, juicy meat flavor). I’ll definitely be returning for lunch again on the weekends. I can’t wait to try their other sandwiches and cheese steaks.

Been here twice and between myself and my fiancé we have tried 3 different sandwiches. Sandwich portions are quite large, I usually eat half and save the rest for later. Price comprable to most sandwich shops in the area. On the menu, they make note of their homemade ingredients in some of the sandwiches. Definitely try the sandwich with BBQ chicken, carmelized onions and blue cheese! I will be back and try more of the menu very soon. We did spend some time looking for parking, and the cashier told us that there is in fact a parking lot behind the building with access from Essex ave. Can be very helpful in downtown Narberth to have parking!

This place just opened where Ice Café used to be, and I couldn’t be happier. It is just what Narberth needed – a place to go and get a quick lunch/dinner from local people who are doing their cooking thing. And they still have water ice for my kids, so they are happy too. I had the grilled chicken sandwich – it came with carmelized onions, provolone cheese, blue cheese, and BBQ sauce. I fully expected to hate it(so much going on here), but I LOVED it. Really, really good. I would love if they would have just regular sandwiches(turkey, roast beef, etc) – I don’t always want a hot sandwich, especially in the summer. Next time I plan to taste their salads and the side of corn on the cob with sprinkled with cheese.

Had a great pepper & egg sandwich here last week. I love that Narberth has a little café with outdoor seating that we can walk to. Very convenient with the kids or to bring your dog(if you have one). Love coming here in the summer time after dinner, to kill some time and eat ice cream. I’m so glad this new place retained the ice cream and water ice of Ice Café. I also hear they will be serving ice cream and waffles, which sounds AWESOME! I wish they carried diet soda! I was just here the other day and they had Coke but no diet Coke! Hopefully they were just out that day and will have some next time I stop in. The space(inside and out) was very clean and the young staff was friendly and helpful. I hope to visit Homemade many times this summer with my family and friends.
