Usually love the food and service… until this weekend, when a steak had to be sent back 3 times and finally just got eaten because we had waited too long. Service-the wait staff were annoyed with us because the food wasn’t correct… manager(we think) smiled and nodded and pretty much ignored us… had to ask for bread because of the long, tedious wait… and total lack of response by management to email complaint. Shan’t be back… seriously, please google ‘customer service’ and ‘keep your customer happy’ and submit your staff to some training. The Shrimp cocktail was good though…

Was in NH for the day for an event and went looking for someplace to eat in the early afternoon. Stumbled across this place and was quite happy we did. We sat in the bar area which was ok. There are some booths and tables and also some couches in group seating settings. We walked right in and found our own table. There was noone acting as host or hostess and seating people. It seemed very casual. The waitress was friendly and knowledgable anout the menu items. We ordered the seafood chowder and the chicken alfredo soup to start. Both were excellent. I couldnt get enough of the chicken alfredo soup and wished i had ordered a bowl instead of a cup. We also ordered the nachos and i ordered the french dip. The only real complaint i have is that we had asked for bread and we did not receive any until our meals were served. The rolls were hot and fresh though. All in all it was a great stop and the soup alone was worth it.

My boyfriend and I have been here twice in the past six months, and both times the food was great. The first visit was for dinner on Black Friday. It was not busy, so it must have been an early dinner. I don’t remember what he had, but I had the mushroom ravioli, which were quite tasty. I also partook of the bread basket and the Tilia Malbec, both of which were wonderful. The most recent visit was on a Tuesday evening because they have $ 5 burgers on Tuesdays. He had the bbq cheddar burger and I had the meatloaf burger. Again, both were quite good, and they were enormous – 8 oz the menu said, and they were almost too large to take a comfortable bite of. The burgers did not come with bread, and that was fine. Who needs or wants a bread basket with a burger and fries? I also had the Tilia Malbec again, and it is still deliciously peppery. We agreed that the food here was wonderful, so why only three stars? The service here is slow and, overall, not great. Granted, my boyfriend does drink a lot of water with dinner, but his glass sat empty for more of dinner than it was full. It took 15 minutes to get my first glass of wine, and the same for a second. I don’t recall how long our black Friday dinner took, but Tuesday’s dinner took over an hour for two burgers. Also, it seems they are not used to guests in the dining room ordering burgers, as it took some time to get the burger menu and the waiter seemed a little put-out that we would even ask. Would we come back? Probably. $ 5 for an 8 oz burger is pretty darn good, especially considering the quality of the meal. I think we would sit in the lounge next time, though. The only reason we didn’t this past visit was because we had gotten there a little late and it was full. This also seems to be a popular place for large family dinners and parties, which, up to a certain amount of people seem to take place in the regular dining room. Our waiter was stretched pretty thin between the large group of twelve people, us, and two other tables in the room we were seated in, so this may have had a hand in the speed of service. It also felt, given the intimacy of the small dining rooms, that we were intruding on a private party. I don’t think there’s a good solution for the restaurant for parties that aren’t quite big enough for the function rooms, but it’s something to be aware of.

Stumbled upon this place by accident last night and was pleasantly surprised. My two friends that I started with the French onion soup which was great and then had appetizers: escargot and stuffed mushrooms. Everything was great but the real charm was the two singers they had in the lounge where we ate. Overall a great experience

We love this restaurant for dinner and have eaten there many times but were very disappointed with the brunch. We have had better buffets at Holiday Inn Express. For what you get in the buffet it is very overpriced. You can order extras for an additional cost but you wait a long time to have them delivered to the table. Go for a nice dinner there and skip the brunch.

My fiancée and I were going Christmas shopping for the day and ended up getting lost in Nashua, not even the town we were supposed to be in the first place. We were starving and all we saw was chain restaurants down the roads then found the Country Tavern. I am so glad we stopped! Our server was so friendly and the food was awesome. We got the nachos first and then I got the chicken sandwich I highly recommend going here. Even when we were leaving everyone that worked there was super friendly.

Garbage! Reserved a private room for a 25th anniversary party and the whole wait staff was very rude and inappropriate. Reserved the room and then cut us off because a few people ran up a high bill for the entire group. Not friendly. Waitresses charged«ghost» drinks individuals at the function.

I decided to check out Country Tavern after receiving a postcard in the mail. Country Tavern is an American restaurant that offers home-style meals. They have multiple dining rooms as well as multiple function rooms. Upon entry, we had to look left and right to find the hostess stand. On the left was a bar with seat and live band performing. I wish that they could wire the live band to speakers in the dining room rather than playing music. On the right, you have a sitting area next to the hostess booth and dining rooms beyond the booth. It’s nice that the restaurant is dimmed and that each table has a candlelight on it. However, it makes picture taking difficult. After ordering, we waited an hour for food. For starters, we got two kinds of soups — French Onion Soup and Chicken, Wild Rice, and Mushroom Soup. The French Onion Soup consisted of a super salty beef broth, onions, baguette topped with Swiss and Provolone Cheese. On the other hand, the Chicken, Wild Rice, and Mushroom Soup was delicious. For dinner, my dad ordered the Prime Rib Special, which came with seasonal vegetables and a choice of starch(in this case, baked potato with sour cream and chives). The Prime Rib was cooked to perfect and covered in au jus. The only compliant was that the steak knife wasn’t sharp enough to cut the steak. My mom and I ordered the Maple Glazed Cedar Plank Salmon but with varying starch sides. My mom got it with seasonal vegetables and wild rice with vegetables and bacon. I got it with seasonal vegetables, sweet potato fries(for an additional $ 0.95), and a side Caesar Salad(for an additional $ 2.95). The Caesar Salad consisted of fresh romaine, grated romano cheese, and croutons lightly tossed in housemade Caesar dressing. Sadly, we were overwhelmed by the amount of food we ordered and were too full for dessert.

I found this place on Unilocal,so I had to check it out. I was here for brunch, and found the food to be very good, and the prices very low. The wait staff were very helpful and friendly. When I couldn’t finish my meal, I asked for it to go. The waiter actually placed it into a container for me. Not many places actually provide service like that anymore. All in all, this is definitely one of Nashua’s hidden gems, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for good food, good service, at a reasonable price. I will definitely be coming back here.

The staff was very friendly, nice, helpful and attentive. They’re the saving grace because the brunch was dismal at best. The food was not cohesive, reminiscent of a continental breakfast at a hotel, and cold. We got there at 11am, their brunch is from 10 – 2, so there was no reason for the confused set-up, and the odd selection. I was skeptical when I first heard it was a buffet, because that never screams, culinary ingenuity. Soggy bacon, spongy eggs, and a random assortment of potato and pasta salads next to store-bought cannoli, and macaroons. It is haphazard and insulting to a traditional brunch. Don’t waste your time here for brunch, the food was just too rough. It’s a shame because the restaurant atmosphere is cool, and has huge potential, but the menu is outdated and underwhelming.

I love the Country Tavern so it’s about time I post a review! I lived in southern New Hampshire for years before moving to Boston, so I’ve been a number of times over the years and each time the food seems better and better. The buffalo chicken tenders are phenomenal here. SO. GOOD. I’m already planning to make a special trip to get them the next time I am in NH. I would highly recommend this restaurant for brunch, lunch, or dinner. The bar area is fun on a weekend, too. They have live music, and they support local micro breweries which I think is great. Overall, great food, music, drinks, and very friendly staff.

Fantastic food and great service. Salmon was cooked to perfection and garlic mashed potatoes were awesome! Service fast, not too loud, great parking. A definite keeper.

I’m not sure about this place. - I went here for lunch, and I was the only customer there. The entire time. - It’s not like I went at a weird time; I was there at noon. It was so creepy — the place was dead quiet, except for the hostess talking on her phone. I ambled my way into the bar area and sat down. It was like I wasn’t supposed to be there. - It took awhile to get my order, since the hostess was chatting up the bartender with some new work-related drama. I got a chicken sandwich, which was OK. The dressing on it was good, but there wasn’t enough of it, leaving most of it fairly bland. - I was planning on taking some people out to lunch here, but after today, I doubt I’ll be back.

My husband and I finally got to the Country Tavern after being intrigued by it for years! I wanted to check it out because they support local breweries and serve spirits from the distillery just behind the building. We sat in the Tap Room and it was much like I expected… dark wood, cozy, rustic, but not trendy(in a good way), clean and comfortable. Nary a hipster in sight. We sat in one of the tall backed booths which gave us a sense of privacy, even the fairly small room. There was also cushy and worn leather chairs for seating if you were just hanging out having a few drinks, or tables with chairs. The waitress was friendly and attentive but not overbearing. I had the gouda flatbread and it was tasty. I was impressed that they had a veggie burger on the menu! My husband got nachos with chili and the serving was large, the price reasonable. There were plenty of local and local-ish beers to choose from, and the brown ale(s) were delicious! We will definitely be back to the Country Tavern!

Okay… this was the first time we tried for burgers after the hiring of the«new» chef since we had read months earlier how«wonderful» the new signature items were(I know– the local paper’s restaurant critic is suspect, but we try to give doubt-bennies). Anyway, I have a feeling the«new» chef is history and his menu has endured, and they have complete rookies trying to execute the items on the menu, at least based on what we ordered. If the so-called new chef is there, he should hang his head in shame. Couple positives, though. Our server, in the tavern, was friendly, efficient and just a nice guy. His fellow-server even checked in on us, and she was equally nice. Hence the 2 stars. Extra star also for the caesar salad(fresh, crisp, not overdressed– but BOXED croutons? Really??). On to the burgers. First off, my wife ordered the vegetarian black bean burger off the menu and the server had to tell us that they no longer offered that item as «no one ever ordered it.» Apparently until now. But it’s still on all the menus, including online. She instead ordered the app crab cakes which were small, but according to her, «Not bad.» Best endorsement of the night. I ordered the All American, our friend who was with us, the Tavern Burger. Both burgers were smaller than expected. If the meat was a ½ pound as described on the menu, it had major shrinkage going on. They stick a steak knife in the center of the burger for the servers to present(in lieu of the usual long toothpick) to try to allude that what you are getting is akin to a «steakhouse» burger. Not so much. The brioche bun was standard size, and reasonably crisp and, after tasting, the only positive about both our burgers. The contents inside the bun were like LAVA! It took a full 5 minutes for us to be able to just begin to nibble at the insides, which were overcooked WAY beyond the medium-rare we ordered. The conclusion we arrived at was that they had to be grilled ahead and then nuked just before serving, possibly because they had been sitting awaiting the tavern servers to pick up the orders. Inexcusable. Hey, I’m not a pro cook, but when I serve burgers to a crowd, I have never resorted to the microwave, Guys, get a clue.

Just want here for Valentine’s Day. Called ahead and was able to get a table easily. I should have been suspicious right then. We arrived at 5:40(admittedly late for our 5:30). Not crowded at all. Hmm, why? Usually the best places are crowded even early when it’s Valentines Day. Service was terrible. Took forever to take orders, and didn’t even take our dinner order until we were finished with the appetizer. No «fixins» for a baked potato. You can’t order it loaded. Messed up my request for no tomatoes in my salad. My son’s seafood pasta dish was decidedly lacking in seafood for the price. Our water was only refreshed once during the meal. The one good thing and the only reason for 3 stars was the Shepherds Rolls appetizer. They are all the ingredients to a Shepherds Pie, placed into an egg roll wrapper and deep fried. The Layer Cake Chardonnay was also very good, but pricey. Long story short, too expensive for okay food with terrible service.

Went for thanksgiving. Food was Luke warm and the prime rib was all fat. No manager stopped by(nor did the server return to follow up) to inquire about experience. Service was mediocre at best. On a positive note, their turkey soup was amazing. Will not be returning and do not recommend wasting your time or money.
