The lomein here is very flavorful. I like it. The service is not that great though. They don’t even have chopsticks or fortune cookies. That is why it lost a star.

The staff, the food, and the drinks are all amazing. You haven’t had a scorpion bowl until you have had one here.

Looking for Chinese food in Nashua, I wanted something more along the lines of typical take-out and less like the fancier menu and style of Lilac Blossom. I’m super sensitive to MSG, so finding a good, reliable take-out place that doesn’t send me to the medicine cabinet for Benadyl can be tricky. I had heard good things about Five Dragons and the dinner I was making tonight failed to come through in a timely manner, so at 9:40PM with a still-not-done homemade gyro loaf in the oven, we realized we needed take-out. After Googling«seven dragons nashua»(oops!) and then correcting my math, we ordered blindly since we couldn’t find a menu online. I wasn’t sure if they were still open for the night and had an amusing exchange with the guy on the phone: «Hi, how late are you open?» «Until the bar closes.» «Um… okay. What time is that?» «When the bar is closed, we’re closed. Sometimes 1AM.» «Okay. We’d like to get a take-out order.» «Food is until 11PM. You want it now?» «Um… yes?» We decided to just order the pile of favorites and then we could judge the place based on the foods we know and love. Overall, we went with a 4 out of 5. The egg drop soup was much thicker than I usually like with lots of egg white and no tofu. It was good, though, if a tiny bit bland. My husband’s hot and sour soup was both hot and sour, loaded with cubes of tofu and though I don’t like it, he said it was good. Pork fried rice was unremarkable but tasty, could have used a little more pork and maybe some vegetables. Crab rangoons were excellent with chunks of crabmeat(real or fake, who cares?) and chicken fingers were also delicious, fried crispy with a nice soft inside to the coating. Egg rolls were not what we expected — instead of the usual filling of mostly pink/red shredded pork with a little bit of cabbage, these were green inside with much more cabbage and a lot less pork — but still very tasty. Overall, I’d say that we would definitely order here again for the same kind of scenario — last-minute dinner replacement or take-out with friends. Twenty minutes later… Okay, some slight reaction to the MSG — the tops of my hands are just barely itchy. For reference, the first place I ever feel a reaction is in my hands… the skin gets itchy, then my hands swell, then my neck itches… etc. If you are deathly allergic to MSG, tell them when you order, take some Benadryl or order from someplace else.(I’m thinking that if you are deathly allergic to MSG, you probably don’t eat Chinese food.)

If you want good, consistent Chinese food made fresh to order without MSG, look no further. The Chicken & Broccoli and Moo Goo Guy Pan are great. If you like curry, try the Curry Chicken or the Singapore Noodles — both are just a little different, but delicious. Reasonable portions, fairly priced.

We’ve ordered from quite a few Chinese food places around Nashua — from the«upper-scale» to the take-out-only places. 5 Dragon has changed names a few times since we’ve been going, but since it’s been 5 Dragon, it seems as if the food is 1000% better. It’s always fresh and doesn’t seem as if it’s prepared in bulk — in preparation for a busy night. If we have guests over & they want Chinese food, this is the place we call. If we feel like un-dieting for the night — this is the place we go. I’ve never had a sit-down meal there, so I can’t speak to the service — but the bar is full of regulars and very friendly bartenders.

A good choice for Chinese food in Downtown Nashua. This restaurant has a front lounge area with TV and full carpeted dining rooms with table seating to the side. They offer the typical lineup of Chinese dishes at reasonable prices including 30 All Day Combination meals($ 4.99-$ 6.99, 1 – 20; 31 – 40). It can take a while for the food to come out because the food is cooked fresh to order. Recently, I had some Hot & Sour Soup($ 1.99) which was pretty good and unique and had a spicy and sweet broth with soft tofu, mushroom strips, pork, & scallions, and no eggs in this soup. I had Combination 37($ 6.99): Pork Lo Mein(linguine like noodles, bean sprouts, onions, pork strips, lots of soy sauce) was tasty. The 3 Chicken Fingers(all white meat), Egg Roll(crispy outside stuffed with finely minced cabbage, shrimp), and boneless spare ribs(tangy and tender strips) were also pretty good. The service here was courteous and attentive with complementary hot tea(cup with tea bag), refills on ice water given, and duck sauce & hot mustard offered with my food. PARKING: Limited free parking spaces(customers only) & metered parking out front.
