The Pawfect K-9

We were super excited about this place when they opened, (great rates, convenient location, lots of play space…) and after a few visits are so disappointed in this place.
Whenever the dogs (we have two labs) come home from a day at the Pawfect K9 they smell horrible and — even worse — are almost guaranteed to have kennel cough. Both our pups were vaccinated against kennel cough and yet, the last two times we have left them here (just for a few hours during the day), they contract it.
The only reason they get two stars at all is for their groomer. We love her. She handles our puppies well and does a great job.
The folks here are very friendly but we won’t be bringing our dogs here any more.

I stumbled upon the Pawfect K9 when I was in a bind with my dog Freckles (Aussie, border collie mix). I had to be out if town for a business meeting and didn’t want him home alone all day sleeping and full of energy when I returned.
I dropped Freckles off at 630 when they open. Freckles was very hesitant at first and wanted nothing to do with it but they were very friendly and patient and took him out back.
When I picked Frecks up he was an extremely happy boy. He spent all day running around, both inside and out, and didn’t spend anytime in a crate. After one visit they knew Freckles and always get excited when I drop him off. They are a live savor for the cold rainy days when I don’t want to run him. I would recommend this place to anyone who has a happy dog looking to play all day. I know that he is always in good hands and will have a great time.
There is also dog grooming there so Freckles can play all day and get a bath!

My own personal experience with this daycare was three stars, average. The place is a bit drab and smelly but I attributed that to the dog food made by the owner and the dried lamb esophagus on the counter. The customer service I experienced was pretty basic: hello, goodbye, «your dog had fun». My dog came home healthy and tired out as he should. The cost is on par with other daycares too.
So here’s the unique second part. When I was reviewing my credit card statement a $ 24 charge to Tracy Lacombe popped up. I didn’t know what it was so I googled the name. The charge was just a normal daycare charge, but the google results that came up with the name were what was actually concerning. I noticed that she had been arrested for animal cruelty (I was able to confirm her identity by noting the name and location of her Dogues de Bordeaux breeding business, on the other two sites below). I called the Amherst police department to find out more information but the case never went to court. Here’s my research trail:

Please note again that I did not have an overly negative experience with this daycare, just average. And I do not have the details of her arrest. But I thought it concerning and relevant to a Unilocal review that the owner of a doggy daycare had an arrest for animal cruelty. Of course the great thing about Unilocal is that the owner can respond here and hopefully the explanation will suffice.

Taking our crazy pup to The Pawfect K9 was the best thing we could have done… for both our pup and our sanity!
Before coming to Pawfect K9, our 1 year old Siberian husky pup was destructive at home. No matter how much we exercised her, she still had loads of energy to spare. When she finally destroyed our couch, we decided that we needed help, ASAP! So we stopped by the Pawfect K9 and met with Tracy, the owner. We were very impressed by the facility and how knowledgeable she was about everything — from dog training to socialization and even diet (she has her own raw dog food line). We knew immediately that Arya would be in good hands.
We are going on our 5^th month at the Pawfect K9 and Arya loves it! She has fun all day, or so it appears from the videos they post of her playing with her friends: Beau, Gronk, and Archer. Every morning she paces around our apartment waiting for us to take her. The best part? She comes home exhausted… and a tired puppy is a good puppy!
Overall we’ve been nothing but impressed with Pawfect K9. The staff really takes the time to get to know each and every dog and works hard to provide a safe and fun environment for them to play. I would recommend the Pawfect K9 to anyone looking for a daycare for their pup!

I have been bringing my dog, Pogi, here since last year, and WOW do I love this place! (He does too!) Tracy, the owner truly cares about the well-​being of your dog. She is not always there, but everyone that works there is so awesome and really helpful! Pogi does the unlimited monthly daycare and I work right up the street. He is there every Mon-​Fri and every single day he is so excited to go in!
When Pogi comes home he is so tired. It is so much easier to train him this way and it also helps him sleep the ENTIRE night! Yes, ENTIRE night! He is only 19 lbs too!
I HIGHLY recommend this doggy daycare and I really mean that. There is another doggy daycare literally across the street from my office, but I will not take my dog anywhere else. I’ve even dropped my friend’s dog at the one across the way and I can just tell when I walk in that it just isn’t as «homey.» I’m sure they take care of the dogs, but I don’t want my dog to be just another dog. That was the vibe I got at least.
He gets to play ALL day at Pawfect k9. It’s never overcrowded with dogs. I also decided to put Pogi on the rawfed diet. You can place your order online and pick it up right at the daycare! Tracy is very knowledgeable when it comes to rawfeeding your pup, but she is in NO way forceful or judgmental if you do not.
I heard about this place when I was in a waiting room at our vet. I knew I had wanted Pogi in a daycare since we do not have a backyard for him to run around in. I believe that without Tracy and her team and Pawfect k9, Pogi would not get the care he deserves. She is always, ALWAYS so helpful and more importantly — easy to talk to!
