Brisket is so good with the homemade Mac and cheese that is mind blowing. Staff was very helpful very knowledgeable and funny. The brisket has a fabulous bark and the smokey flavor complements the sauce which there are several to try. If you’re in the farmers market stop by and blow your BBQ mind

Price was a little steep but portions were fair. Beef was really tender. Baked beans were overly sugary and saucy. Corn bread was too sweet but in a way that’s hard to complain about. I suggest you get there before noon, not after. Crowd rises dramatically around noon. All in all, satisfied. Just not sure about nearly 5 stars, so I’m throwing my review on here to lower the average a little bit. ;-) If you’re going to go to the farmer’s market, for the love of God, buy actual produce from the actual farmers instead of patronizing this mini-food-mall inside.

I felt compelled to try some authentic southern food while in Nashville, since this was my first real trip to the South — so when I saw an option for a «veggie plate» here, I jumped in line. The«veggie» part of the veggie plate is a bit misleading, because it’s really just three of their sides. I chose the cheesy garlic grits, potato salad, and mac n cheese. They were all decent, but nothing mind blowing — my favorite was probably the mayo-heavy potato salad. The cheese grits are apparently the«best in Nashville», but I don’t understand why — maybe most grits have almost no flavor, but I’ve had some pretty delicious cheesy grits in Louisville with much more flavor and mouth-watering creamy texture. The mac n cheese was pretty average(but I adore mac n cheese in general so I still liked it). I topped it off with some sweet tea, and discovered it’s true what I’ve heard about how excessively sweet it is in the South! Overall, the food really wasn’t bad, but I just didn’t love it.

We stopped by on a Saturday to purchase some plants. It’s been a while since I’ve been in the food court area. So many options now! It’s great. We stopped in & looked at this place & decided on trying the BBQ. The menu is pretty straightforward. You can order a plate which includes a meat, two sides & a corn muffin. You can also just do a sandwich. Or a combo that is a sandwich, side & drink. I decided on the brisket combo with Mac & cheese & a drink. The staff were very friendly & the line didn’t take long to go through. For the brisket combo it was $ 7.50. Not bad. They’ve got a station with different sauces. You’re able to squirt it on there or use the little to go containers. I tried the sweet & hot, mustard based & the Louisiana. They’ve got a little sign that shows you the scale of heat for each of the sauces. My favorite was the Louisiana, nice and hot but not overpowering. From the looks of it, they measure out the pork on a food scale. They however pick out the brisket for the sandwiches. My brisket was a nice portion, however one piece was about 35% fat and it was the chewy fat. I removed it and was much better. I kept a little fat from the other pieces and it was good. The mac and cheese is VERY cheesy. I really enjoyed it. It tastes like it has a couple different cheeses in it. I was also able to try the corn pudding and it was good, maybe a little more sweet needed in it but I liked it.

B&C is a great place to eat. Their Barbeque is very moist and yummy and all their sides are homemade rather than canned or frozen. I just watched an employee cut up a lot of Barbeque and put it in the baked beans. Not many places would go through that expense. The employees are friendly too. There is usually a line at lunch time so it is best to go early or late.

The BEST grits in the world, hands down. BBQ is almost always good, but this place makes different grits for every day of the week and they are all amazing. I visited Nashville for a week and ate here THREE times after visiting on a local food tour. Some of their amazing grits include jalapeño, garlic and cheese, and bacon cheeseburger to name a few. Besides their grits their BBQ brisket and pulled pork were delicious.

I would give a lower marking if possible. The BBQ Chicken that tasted like it was doused in pepper and smoke. I cannot say it has flavor because the pepper and smoke taste overflavored everything. The Mac and cheese tasted like it was made from a box. On the plus side. The muffin was actually good. They were fast. But I don’t think it was $ 10.00+ good. I have read the other reviews and wonder if they changed ownership or if I was being punked.

Pulled chicken, briskets, pulled pork — sandwich or plate — this menu is delicious! The sides are also pretty much all great. I especially love that squash casserole. yum! Only issue lately is that there is a relatively new person behind the counter, and he doesn’t seem to care much. Serves much smaller portions, never smiles, barely listens to you. Nevertheless, that shouldn’t take away from the food here. Great BBQ!

Seriously amazing brisket! The line was extremely slow moving which was annoying but once you get to the counter, good smells delight! I got the brisket plate with Mac, buffalo grits and a corn muffin. I have an amazing southern granny who can kill corn muffins. This might give her a run for her money! Tender meat and 7 sauces to choose from. Not too bad at all for $ 11 with drink.

I just moved to Nashville, after living in Wisconsin for pretty much my whole life. I’ve been to 45 of the 50 states. I’ve eaten a lot of really good food. I’ve also eaten a lot of mediocre food. As a food-lover and food blogger( ), when we moved to Nashville, my husband and I set out to find«Nashville’s Best BBQ.» We found it. Drop what you’re doing and get over to the Nashville Farmers Market. Well, first… finish reading my awesome review and then go check out my blog. ;) B & C Market BBQ, or «Bacon & Caviar,» is located in the«food court» of the Nashville Farmers Market. The menu is nothing more than handwritten chalk on a blackboard. You have choices of pulled pork, brisket, and chicken in form of «plate» or «combo.» They also have smoked salmon a few days of the week, as well as a few other specialty items. Standard southern side items. Fountain drinks and an array of different sauces. The pulled pork is incredible. Perfectly seasoned. Melts in your mouth. The chicken is awesome. A little spicy(which I love), and really tender. The brisket was a little fatty, but it’s brisket. And it’s awesome. Sides… I haven’t tried them all, but everything’s been really good. My favorite is the Creole slaw, which is basically just a mildly spicy cole slaw. The Mac ‘n Cheese is great, but I love pretty much and kind of mac ‘n cheese. Actually, I love cheese, in general. But I’m from Wisconsin, where cheese is its own food group… Go here. You will love it. Cheers! The Freewheeling Foodographer

Extremely good cheap eat at the market! When I went there wasn’t any extra sauce to be added as sides so it was kind of a turn off. But the sandwich was amazing.

My favorite bbq that I have had so far in Nashville. I love their chicken plate especially with the white sauce. So delicious. Its not on the menu so you have to know to ask for it. I haven’t tried their grits yet even though everyone talks about how great they are. I love their mac and cheese and green beans. Their cornbread is also delicious. The prices are reasonable and the staff is very helpful.

I brought home some BBQ for lunch today after a quick trip to the Farmer’s Market. I’d sampled some of the food from the Melrose location, though it was through B&C’s catering business(which is also very, very good) – this was my first time eating the actual B&C BBQ. I was very happy with my meal. I ordered the beef brisket meal, with sides of green beans and white beans, along with a small cornbread muffin. Everything I ate was quite good. The meat was seasoned well, on the verge of slightly too salty, and very tender. The sides blew me away – both the green and white beans were cooked perfectly, not greasy, and flavored perfectly. I particularly loved the big chunks of onion and celery in the white beans. I also tried 3 of the sauces with my meal: the Hot, the Sweet and Hot, and the Mild. All of them were good and noticeably homemade, though the Sweet and Hot was my particular favorite. I brought some mac and cheese home for my fiancée and, upon stealing a bite, had a little bit of food envy. Seriously, some of the best mac and cheese I’ve had anywhere, especially in Nashville. YUM. Next time we come, I’d like to try the grits – everyone raves about them, so they’ll definitely be a part of any future visits! Price-wise, I was happy with the portion and the quality of our meal. I’d certainly return to either location of B&C for some good, affordable BBQ.

The service was friendly and quick, but my BBQ was just OK. The prices were also reasonable, but I preferred the pizza(Bella Nashville) in the market much more. If I wanted to try local BBQ, I would probably try another place, or try here again but get something besides the pulled BBQ chicken.

I thought bbq at the Farmers’ Market was kind of a gimmick. I mean, why wouldn’t it be? Tourist trap with the region’s staple cuisine, yeah I think I’m going to stay away, thanks. What stopped me though was that their sign had bacon/cheddar grits Monday and garlic cheese grits everyday. I love grits and my gf loves cheese AND grits. So, that decided the lunch place for the day. I went with the pulled chicken plate and got the bacon/cheddar grits and mac and cheese while the gf got the garlic cheese grits and a corn muffin. I liked the plate and the bacon/cheddar was pretty good. I could have used a little more bacon flavor but the mac and cheese was still a treat. My gf fortunately, liked her garlic cheese grits better than mine and liked her corn muffin. A touch of sweetness and a great texture so much so that I ate the last of my girl’s corn muffin to her shock and disappointment-she was saving the last bit to savor and I swooped in and ate. Their sauces are pretty amazing, a good variety of sauces and all different, vinegar, mustard, and hot were all discernible from one another and not just cookie cutter sauces with just a little bit of difference. Fortunately/unfortunately, there wasn’t a lot of chicken on my plate so I went back and got more food from there. I could use some more food for my money but the food itself is quality.

B & C Market BBQ is one of my new favorite barbeque joints. My husband loves this place and brought me here for lunch at the Farmer’s Market. I was a little reserved at first site considering it’s ran like a cafeteria line. I was thinking, «How good could it possibly be?» I ordered the pulled pork plate with the Mexican grits and macaroni and cheese. I cleaned my plate. That is very rare, especially when it comes to eating barbeque — something I rarely eat. I couldn’t believe how good it was. The pork was so tender, I could easily pull it apart with my plastic fork. The Mexican grits had a nice kick to them and the mac and cheese was baked like Grandma used to make. Very good. I will be a returning customer to B & C. Tip: B & C BBQ is one of the only eateries in the Farmer’s Market that offer free refills on beverages.

One of the better BBQ options in Nashville, their pork has an awesome taste and texture. Plenty of residual collagen, so not too dry, but with an awesome bacon-smoke flavor. One of the few BBQ joints in Nashville that can stand without sauce, and indeed, I recommend going without it at least the first time. Love those corn muffins, too! I also commend them on adding a fryer after the flood renovations. I resent BBQ joints that try to avoid selling fries, because it generally suggests they are being too cheap to operate a fryer. The fries aren’t a high point(really need to be thicker) but at placated my value sense. they really could stand to ditch the meat and three sides and go for something a bit more modern. Everybody does those same sides in Nashville, so it is hard to stand out, although they do experiment with the grits and egg rolls. They do tend to get a bit sluggish at lunchtime, due to popularity, and they could stand to have a bit more space or a more efficient layout. One person ordering something fried means an awkward standing customer in the narrow service area, for example. They also only have certain things on certain days, like brisket, that really confuse new customers. Service is otherwise excellent, but overall score reduced to 4⁄5 for efficiency and side issues. They have a customer loyalty program, which is to be commended.

What can I say, I love this place. I typically go to the Farmers Market once or twice a week for lunch and more often than not, I end up waiting in line for my BBQ at B & C. The BBQ is moist enough that you can eat it without the sauces they carry and still enjoy your meal, and if you are lucky enough to be in line on days they carry brisket, you’ll be truly happy you chose B & C. Fill up the sample cups the first time you go to figure out which sauce you like best, and I gaurentee you’ll be in «hog heaven»(pun intended). If you’re the kind of person who loves to know about secret«off the menu» items, ask for the white sauce. I believe it has a horseradish base, but it goes great on any of the sandwhiches. Fellow Unilocalers have mentioned the grits, and I agree… order them if you want to try something truly special. My personal favorites are the buffalo chicken and the taco grits. If I order a plate instead of a sandwich(plates get two sides), I usually also order the cornbread pudding and put a bit of their spicy BBQ sauce on top to finish off my meal. One last tip if you chose to swing by, ask for pickles. A BBQ plate just isn’t complete without pickles, and for some reason, you have to ask for them to get them at B & C.

You gotta love a place that stakes it’s reputation on Grits. The rotating selection of grits and side dishes is what really sets B&C apart from other barbecue joints in town. Taco grits, buffalo grits, cheddar garlic grits and even chocolate grits. They are takin the grits uptown in the downtown farmer’s market. The barbecue is good, but good barbecue is not to hard to come by in this town if you know where to look. The reason to make a trip to the farmers market is for the specialty grits, corn salad, smoked hamburgers, smoked salmon and all the other creative things that B&C does.
