Blakemore Church of the Nazarene

I started going to Blakemore in the Spring of 2009, and I couldn’t be happier with a church. It’s tiny, with services usually around 50 people. It’s young, with a big portion of the congregation connected somehow to Trevecca Nazarene University. It’s simple; no fancy lighting (shoot, sometimes we don’t even turn the lights on and just let sunlight stream in). And it’s real– some Sunday’s our (female) pastor doesn’t even need a microphone. You’ll see shoeless people, hear the sound of kids downstairs, and taste (non-​Styrofoam) communion bread.
It’s really a great little congregation, and when the time comes in life to move away from Nashville, I’ll be looking for a church like Blakemore, regardless of denominational affiliation.
