We recently moved to an older house that has a plethora of beautiful mature trees around it. A big gust of wind caused a rather large limb to fall on the ground directly outside our bedroom the other night, so the next day I got in touch with our Realtor. As usual, off the top of her head, she knew the correct people to call. He came out and took a look and pointed out that the tree in question was actually leaning quite a bit toward our home, so it was safest to remove it. Sad to see tree go, but we have plenty of others, and made sure to plant a new one to replace it, only this time far from our house. He emailed me their insurance that same day. Insurance and expericnce for these companies is important as think about how easy it is for someone to get hurt or for your property to suffer damage if they don’t know what they are doing. My husband has a horror story about when he worked one summer while in college for a guy who cut grass and also owned a big chain-saw. Owning that saw prompted him to designate himself as a «tree guy». My husband saw one of their friends almost get killed when«tree guy» misjudged which way a tree would fall. On the other hand, I felt really good about Druid, especially after meeting the guy, who was so professional, and also after going to their website. Their price seemed right for the work they did. Our work was quickly performed and they even ground up the stump for us. He pointed out a couple of trees in the front that might need trimming some day, but didn’t seem pushy or like he was trying to sell more work.

Since Unilocal has limited reviews on «Tree Service» I figured I better write about my experience and such. I first googled east nashville/lockland springs tree service these guys came up. I then cross checked them with the BBB they had an A. And have been in business since the 70’s and registered with BBB-Nashville since about the 80s. After checking a few ‘shady’(no pun intended) you have to make sure your TREEPEOPLEAREINSURED. TIP: Look even if you chose NOT to use Druid — fine, but get all the proper paperwork of their insurance and cross check them with the Better Business Bureau. Druid website doesn’t do them justice– they are true professionals. I called them to tell them I had some massive branches hanging over my home just about to bust and damage my house. They came the next day, gave us a free estimate. They brought all the insurance paperwork(per my request). It was a little more than we wanted to pay, but they were prompt, insured, local business, and they do the landscaping at Cheekwood. Well dang! I did not shop around the price or talk them down. They’re part of the hood and I like using businesses in my neighboord.(They’ve probably watch my big ol tree grow and die through the years!) A few days later — they cut down a whole massive old dead east nashville tree, and trimmed up a few branches off some other massive branches over our house. They were there about 2 hours. The yard was clean when they left and asked how the worked looked before they left. It looked great! Hooray for local business!

When we were thinking about renovating our 1920’s home we called Druid. We had a 200 yr old oak tree very close to the house in the back yard. They told us to build around the tree. The charged an amount to «surgically’ cut the roots so we could to an addition around the tree. They approved the plans. We paid thousands of dollars to Druid to cut the roots, give the tree hormones to stop the growth, then hormones to start the growth… I am talking about thousands of dollars. Two year ago the tree did not look good. I called Druid directly. They did more treatments to our Oak Tree. Last year we had a branch fall — these branches are huge! I had trouble having them call me back. When they did call me they told me that we should take down the tree… for about $ 10,000 dollars. I called them to talk about this… they would not return my call. They still have not returned my call. Today the tree is alive. There are some dead branches. These branches correspond with where they were to «surgically«cut the roots to prevent damage. I would never call Druid. They«act» like the care. They do not care.
