Pork BBQ joint, a throwback to when barbecue was simple! The 5 dollar brown bag lunch is a pretty good deal. This is a no frills joint and a change of pace from some of the more trendy BBQ places a few miles up the road. You will not find an egg or fried pickles on your organic raised pork with a blue cheese BBQ sauce. Nor will you find beer. BUT you will get a good pork sandwich some Golden Flake chips and a canned coke. The folks are friendly behind the counter you have outdoor seating when it’s nice, don’t forget to clean up after yourself. I’d recommend you get the slaw on the sandwich and use the sweet heat sauce. The BBQ itself lacked that strong smoked flavor it needed to really be high quality. The sides are acceptable if a little small and I do wish the Mac and cheese was baked. Don’t forget your Golden Flake chips!

I’m not sure what this building housed in its former life, but I like what East Nashville BBQ Co. has done with the place. It’s a simple counter-order joint, no fuss. That being said, the lively red/black/gray paint scheme gives it a more modern feel. Options for smoked meat are pretty limited here, with the choice being confined to pulled pork or barbecued chicken. The menu board says«More Coming Soon,» although they’ve been open for six or seven months, so I’m not sure what the holdup is. I decided on the showcased offering and ordered a BBQ Plate of pulled pork. They were sadly out of potato salad, so I settled for baked beans and mac and cheese as my two sides. I also received a cornbread muffin and a portion of their spicy slaw. The macaroni was standard blue-box mac and cheese. I don’t have any major complaints about it, other than being fairly boring. The beans had a decent sweetness to them but not much else. It, like the macaroni, just sort of fell flat. The slaw had a great spiciness. It also tasted fresh and had an equally fresh crunch to the veggies. There was a pleasant sweetness to the muffin, which crumbled nicely without being dry or dense. If East Nashville BBQ Co. put as much effort into the beans and the mac as they had the cornbread and slaw, they’d be in good shape. My taste buds kept searching for both salt and smoke in the pulled pork, but were thwarted on both counts. I couldn’t find any bark, pink/red smoky bits, or anything that would remotely suggest seasoning. The pork itself was also fairly watery. Not juicy, watery. At least it was tender. After I’d finished as much of my meal as I was able, it occurred to me that there was no smell of delicious smoke in the air, inside or out. I peered through their fenced work area on the side of the building, and I could make out a pit and a few cords of wood, though none of it appeared to be in active use today. I have my doubts. Regardless of the cooking method employed here, the end result is disappointing.

Three stars is A-OK. That means go try this place when you can. Sides were very good. Pork was good.

So my mom and I have a weird tradition of getting bbq takeout from somewhere for the day we put up her christmas tree. Idk how this tradition started, but it did, and we’ve been going somewhere different each year for about eight years. This place was one of the best places we’ve tried over the years. No sauce needed on the pulled pork(it’s just not usually my jam) but mom said the sweet heat sauce was great. Slaw was a tad too spicy to add to her sandwich(she’s a wimp, imo), but I thought it was absolutely perfect. The mac and cheese is creamy and not weird and grainy at all(which is often the flaw in the mac and cheese plan), the white beans were on point and the greens were delicious. Both times I’ve been here everyone on the staff that I’ve spoken with has been kind and super concerned about the quality of the food. The place is legit and we’re lucky to have them.

Support your local joint! Give them advice, let them know what they can do better, but keep supporting them. We need this place. Pulled pork was a lil watery and lacking flavor and the turnip greens a lil soggy… but it’s straight up good home BBQ.

Just down the street from me, it was too darn convenient not to try. East Nashville BBQ co will be seeing a lot of my money in the near and distant future! I had the pulled pork sandwich with mashed potatoes and mac and cheese for sides. All were excellent.(I had read mixed reviews on the mac and cheese, but wow it was one of the better dishes I’ve had!) 4 out of 5 stars because I stood at the window for several minutes before anyone acknowledged my presence.

New owners did a great job cleaning up this local eye sore. They were also very friendly when I visited. I would give them a higher rating… but the food was just«ehhh» and over priced. The mac & cheese was cold, potatoes were nothing special(and also cold), meatloaf was okay. Their portion sizes were ridiculously small. Almost $ 10.00 and I was hungry 30 mins later. Charlie Bob’s is right down the road and the food, portions, and pricing are much better. I’ll drive the extra 2 miles.

There is better BBQ places around the same area. The sides seem to come from a can. Not made fresh daily

The pulled pork/chicken are still awesome. 4 stars for that. The sides, however, are nothing special. Except maybe the baked beans. They’re pretty good. The mac n’ cheese was gummy and flavorless. And the potato salad was very mustard-y. With Edley’s not too far away, I’d be cranking it up a bit. No canned stuff. Also, is this place«Cleo’s Country Kitchen» or «East Nashville BBQ Company»? I’ve seen signs for both. Confusing branding there for sure.

Locals — it’s worth a try. Decent food. Decent price. More a conveince meal on my list than an outing. Owners seemed nice. The only«negatives» the Cleo’s Country kitchen thing is confusing. Pick a name/product and focus. And also, to be able to pay at the pickup window would be better. I was at pickup window, then other window to pay, then back to pickup window. But, if thats the worst of it… like I said, give it a try. Support local business.

I’m so glad we tried this place! After a long Saturday morning of errands and house work we were pretty hungry and decided to try East Nashville BBQ and it was great. 1. It’s really clean! This is important to me, I’ve been in some NASTY hot BBQ joints and let me tell you that nothing is more unappetizing. 2. Pulled Pork sandwiches are a win. They are a bit spicy with the slaw but some extra BBQ sauce helps to make it more mild if you aren’t a spicy food fan. 3. The mac n cheese is money. I may just order a huge helping of that next time ;-) 4. It’s really reasonably priced. 4 of us got meat &2 meals for like $ 35 Go try it. You’ll like it!

Nice neighborhood restaurant. Family run. Good options and sides. Walked with my family to grab dinner to go. We were interested in trying since ownership has changed. Perfect meal for our family on a Thursday night. Will definitely go again.
