Greer Stadium

Last Cheer at Greer was packed!!! My hubby and I live about 5 miles at the most from the ball park and for the past four years we kept putting off going… but the last game of the last season to be played at this park… we had to go !!! Right??? Of course !!!
So, I jumped on the internet website for the Nashville Sounds and purchased General Admission tickets for $ 8 each plus $ 1 each handling for total of $ 18. I had them held at Will Call window. We arrived about 5:30 pm. first pitch at 7:05…so we had to wait in line with many many others.
Once in, we were herded through the gates and the back of the bleacher area. it was so PACKED. I went to the restroom and thought I was going to pass out from the heat.
This stadium is 37yrs old… but it is in great condition. Not sure why they are closing it. They needed a parking garage, but the stadium itself is fine!!! Okay, now the rough parts… Tony needed a Budweiser ((((of course Hannah… Right???) $ 8 for ONE 25 oz can… Now that is bank robbery. I know that businesses are out to make money… but at what point is PRICE GOUGING considered against the law. This same beer cost like $ 2.29 to $ 2.59 at a gas station… come on…350 to 400% mark up… and WHO IS BROKE!!! The ballpark… ha ha ha. I think NOT!!!
Then we went to get 2 hot dogs, with nothing but mustard and ketchup. relish is available… and a coke cola in a 20 oz bottle. so no overhead with cups, ice or straws…$ 12, meaning $ 4 each. same soda is overpriced in gas station for $ 1.50 and so are the gas station style hot dogs… same food would have been about $ 4.50 in a gas station. so again 300% markup… so I was into the park for 10 minutes and down $ 38…and they ask the QUESTIONS… why don’t people come to these things anymore… well does this answer your question… I also paid $ 5 for parking (((about the average))) so actually down $ 43 in less than an hour.
I am glad its the final. because I couldn’t afford much of this…
The opening was presented with the first pitch was with several previous Nashville sounds past important people including the Greer Stadium Namesake son and daughter… It was nice. Also one of the Oak Ridge Boys threw out one of the first pitches apparently he was a previous team owner. Then the Oakridge Boys sang «The Star Spangled Banner».that was pretty nice… I was able to see the Oakridge Boys and heard them sing. that was so priceless…
The team lost!!!
We left early because after a second $ 8 beer I couldn’t handle being Robbed so easily and out in the open like that…$ 16 for two beers. that is enough for a case of beer… ugh!!!

Nachos — check. $ 2 Hot Dog — check. Ice cream — check. Beer — check check check.
Love. Small stadium, and with a huge scoreboard shaped like large guitar. If that’s not Nashville enough, service that includes beer in plastic bottles served at your seat by vendors. Now that hospitality.
I went on stubhub and found a great ticket the day of the game. Gotta like that, and it was cheap…$ 7.
The Sounds have a decent enough team, and won on the night I went. Yes!

Four years now and I have been buying large groups of tickets for my gang to go enjoy an evening out at the ball game.
Peanuts, beer, candy, lots of chattering…
I’ve never been here when the stadium has been sold out.
In fact, the most I’ve ever seen is maybe 50% capacity? Maybe?
So… you have your choice of seats… LOTS of seats.
The vendors are nice, funny, friendly…
The place is comfortable.
Parking isn’t bad, since no one goes to the games.
The new stadium will be a great concert venue.
I don’t see it filling up, unless they will be giving hotels free tickets, to all the tourists.
Greer doesn’t fill up… and the parking is really good.
I can’t imagine people going to the new stadium and trying to find parking, which will probably cost $ 15 per car… that’s what the parking garages downtown charge.
So… I’m kind of confused as to why Nashville needed a new stadium, and in downtown — no less… really piss poor planning.

Overall: Fun little baby ballpark… and you can always get a decent ticket for cheap so thumbs up!
Food: Usual ballpark offerings with a few extras if you’re willing to pay for it. (including Yazoo & barbecue.)
Tickets/​Seating: Not expensive and keep an eye out for coupons around town. It’s a small enough ballpark that there isn’t a bad seat in the house… just watch out for flying balls & bats if you sit close to the first base line.
Parking: There’s plenty, but if you want to park on site you’ll pay about $ 5. (not worth complaining about.) If you get there early, you can probably grab a spot on the street.
Tip: Bring cash. Some of the vendors take plastic, but about half don’t and it’s just easier to be prepared. You’ll also need it for parking.

Watch the City of Hope Celebrity Softball Game here and it’s a fun park to see a game! Maybe I’ll make it back to see a Sounds game here some day soon.

I love this ball park. Nestled in a part of town that does not experience a lot of traffic at night, traffic is quick and efficient trying to get in and out of the game.
Parking — $ 3 and you can usually park either down the hill within the stadium grounds (behind left field field and use that entrance/​exit) or across the street.
$ 12 — for the reserved seats that are practically on top of the field — awesome. This is 1 of the few minor league parks that I’ve been to where you see the fans engaged and root for the home team with a true passion.
Have a big group — ~50? Rent out the Budweiser deck — beers are $ 1 and food is served through the 6^th inning.
Usually, you can buy great seats online up until day prior. Going on a Friday night or weekend game, good seat purchases at the gate/​window can be tough.

I actually was going to do a review of the Sounds but after seeing that Greer Stadium had it’s own entry, thought I would save the baseball review for later. The decades old Stadium itself has gotten long in the tooth, only so much you can do with paint and minor repairs. Every time we go there, I comment on the cool guitar shaped scoreboard, but after that I usually also comment on the old bathrooms and overall feel of the place. Maybe I’m too harsh on this old stadium now that we have had a few years to enjoy the much nicer and newer facilities for the big boys: Preds and Titans.
The location of Greer is sort of convenient, getting off I-​65 at Wedgewood and taking 8^th Ave. N for us. Parking is easy, and prices are decent for stadium food, beer and hot dogs are always a good pick.
They were talking about moving the Sounds to a downtown stadium. That would be nice, but wonder if downtown parking and higher ticket prices would cut our visits from several times a season to somewhat less. For now, Greer it is, and hope to get out there again in a week or 2.

I really enjoyed this ball-​park. The beer is kind of expensive, but the game was fun and the DJ kept us laughing with the funny songs. This is a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon!

I was in Nashville for a conference and decided to take in the pleasures of a ball game one evening.
Much to my surprise, I had such a warm welcome from the fans being that I was an out-​of-​towner! I bought the expensive ticket ($ 12) so that I could have prime seating. Boy, did I pick the right location. There was an entire extended family in the row behind me and they adopted me for the evening. They shared with me the best players, the food to buy in the park, and other places to hang around in the city.
I was amazed how crowded the stands were and that the majority of the fans stayed until the END of the game. Those are true fans! Fun evening and a great way to spend my time.

Greer is not a bad place to watch a ballgame; it has a certain decrepit charm. Fourteen bucks for reserved seating and three dollars to park your car lower the attraction, of course. Be SURE to avoid Sluggers Restaurant: the service is a nightmare and the food is lousy (if they actually provide it). On the 4^th of July a friend and I sat for 75 minutes waiting for a hamburger and chicken wings (no fries, just potato chips). We left without getting our food.

Greer stadium is ancient that’s for sure. But really who the heck is going to complain about a ticket for $ 12 in the 6^th row behind home plate no less?
They’ve repainted much of the stadium charcoal gray recently and it definitely looks snazzier. But really this is a minor league team doing the best they can with what they got and still keeping it real. Quite frankly I’m just looking for a good time and Greer provides. They have beer and hot dogs and popcorn. I hear Throwback Thursdays provide all those classic treats at cheaper prices and I can’t wait to test run those deals some time soon.
Good fun for all ages and definitely all types of people. Make sure that you figure out what ‘theme’ or ‘special event’ is going on the game you want to go to. We went unknowingly to «reading club night’…and there were tons of kiddies who participated in reading events. I’m not the biggest kid person in the world… but I still had fun!
SO Nashvillians get out and support your baseball team!
Tips: Get there early and park near the exit, it was $ 3 and made for a headache-​less departure. If you have to pee don’t break the seal unless you have to, I mean the bathrooms were great compared to what I’ve heard, I’d say on par with city park bathrooms but there are just very few.

Greer Stadium is home to the Nashville Sounds minor league baseball team. I literally haven’t been here since I was a wee lil rockstar and my dad took me to see the Yankees play the Sounds (back in the day when the Sounds were their minor league team). And yeah, I also remember him taking me and my brother here so we could get the San Diego Chicken’s autograph. Yes, the chicken autographed a glossy photo. And ice cream in mini baseball batting helmets? What was not to like?
Fast forward to now. My brother wanted to spend his birthday night at the Sounds game. It was Throwback Thursday. No silly chickens to be found, but there was $ 2 beer and $ 2 hot dogs. Throw that on top of a cheap $ 10 – 12 ticket and you are talking about one entertaining and economical evening! Random thoughts:
— it is SUPER FUN to heckle the other team. Unlike at pro stadiums, they can hear you. They might even give you a head nod if you are particularly funny.
— don’t think you can’t heckle the other fans. They also are drinking $ 2 beer and they also get into it.
— noticed that the mascot was a cougar — #1 cougar in Nashville they said. Ummmm… clearly they never heard of me? I’m new here though. I got a pic with the mascot just so I can see my competition. Even if it is a «dude».
— this place sure seemed enormous when I was a kid. It isn’t large at all actually but I think that makes it more fun! Also, it is likely to be pretty empty so you can definitely help yourself to some reserved seating seats without too much worry.
— sure it isn’t new and pretty like some other cities’ stadiums, but hey, it is old skool and has nostalgia. Bathrooms may be old but are clean. Parking may not be great, but it is there and wasn’t too jacked up in price.
— noticed some party pavilions that apparently you can reserve with large groups and be rowdy all by yourself.
— Close enough to almost everywhere so you can take a cab and do that $ 2 beer justice!
I was a little bored after a while since baseball just is not my thing, but I had an overall great time at the Sounds game at Greer Stadium. Take yourself, take the kiddos, take the whole family, and go out to the ballgame!

Here are the pro’s. Sounds games are a fun family activity and the pricing is not expensive. The concessions seem really reasonable and they have all kinds of specials. The seats are all pretty good. They have a fun July 4^th night events if they are playing a home game.
The cons is that the stadium is pretty old and not in great shape. The bathrooms are abysmal. I have children under 5 and I don’t want them in there. They don’t seem to have great parking either so it can be a bear getting in and out. Just plan to want to shower after a visit as you will have that carnival grubby feeling.

Greer Stadium is the home of the Nashville Sounds Baseball team. The summer games here are a lot of fun. They are pretty relaxed about the seating at the games. There are large groups of regulars that have sort of staked their territory and seat swapping is not a big deal at all. So no matter what your stub says you can shift around a little bit and get a closer seat. The stadium is small enough though, that pretty much any seat is going to give you a good view of the game.

can i get a wooot, wooot!!! I love this stadium! It’s not the best looking stadium, but it does draw a good crowd for Nashville Sounds game especially on Thirsty Thursdays!!! on thirsty thursdays there are 3 different sizes 10oz ($ 1), 12oz ($ 2), and 16oz ($ 3). The best deal if you haven’t calculated is the 10oz $ 1 beers. you can only buy 2 at a time, but it sure beats spending more.
If you are looking for some outdoor activities during summer look no further. go to the game w/​friends, family, loved ones and enjoy the game out in the sun or warm evenings.
