Greyhound Bus Lines

The woman at the desk was kind and patient upon arrival but that does not make up for the lack of professionalism. I arrived an hour early for a 6:45am bus and waited for the boarding announcement at 6:30 as promised by the clerk. 30 minutes have gone by past departure time and guess what??, still no bus or no announcement given as to why the bus is late. If you have a terminal full of people and your bus is 30minutes late, the proper and courteous thing to do would be to make an announcement and let passengers know something. I then stopped an employee and ask about the busses and he stated in a very annoyed way that they themselves didn’t know what was going on and told me that they were too busy to make a simple announcement making us aware of the delay.
The time is now 7:20 and they finally made an announcement saying that there is a 2hr delay in the bus schedule meaning I basically got up at the crack of dawn for no reason. I will NEVER take greyhound again out of Nashville. So ghetto and unprofessional.

One of the cleaner stations I’ve seen on my way to southern Alabama from Cleveland. A little small compared to my home station, but that place is huge. Updated bathrooms with working plumbing (a jab at the Louisville KY station) and a café that’s actually open for business.

All y’all complaining about this place haven’t been to the Atlanta station. It’s clean and seems fairly safe. Yes it is crowded but overall, for a Greyhound bus station, it passes my test. (I was hoping to walk and get something to eat during my 2 hour layover but there is nothing nearby.)

Took an early morning bus from Nashville to Memphis. I’m not sure what others are talking about, I didn’t find anything wrong or scary about this bus station. I felt perfectly safe, my bus was on time and my driver was great!

Overall, nothing different than most large city stations. Took a while to depart (20mins). Darryl H. was our driver, happy with that. The station needs something to form and separate lines though. The girl at the counter today needs to be fired immediately. She was the only one working and had a horrible attitude towards me and everyone after me. Depressed my morning. Four lanes but she honored only one when people filed in the individual and then switched it and yelled at everyone when the next group corrected themselves. Wish I caught her name. Black girl 5’6, about 25 years old, average build, straight long black wig with short bangs and looks like she doesn’t know how to smile or be courteous. 10am on 3÷23÷2014.

A better experience has helped me rate Greyhound an extra star.
Ok, so we caught the Greyhound from San Diego to LA on the 18^th of January. You certainly can’t fault the price, we booked advance tickets for $ 8.
The bus was actually early arriving to the terminal and departed exactly on time arriving in Los Angeles a couple of minutes before scheduled arrival time.
The journey was smooth, bus was half full. I suppose had there been a full bus we may not have been AS punctual. The Nashville to Memphis terminal experience WAS atrocious (if you’ve read my previous comments); rude staff, a jammed terminal, no communication from staff, late bus, smelly patrons. To be fair, the smelly patrons were actually quite nice once they knew they were getting on their bus. My husband sat near two homeless people and one of the homeless folk sat next to a deranged soldier who was talking about what his therapist had told him and how the Afghanistan has messed him up but it wasn’t his fault.)
The bus driver on this route made an announcement about phones and private conversations not making other riders uncomfortable which I thought was a good thing. It hadn’t been done on the last trip and it’s fair enough, some things you lost don’t want to hear.
Also, we did not have the same customer service experience in San Diego as we did in Nashville. The clerk there almost seemed happy but that’s what living in a place like SD will do. The SD terminal is small, as is the LA one — not done up like the Nashville and Memphis terminals.
While I would NOT travel Greyhound cross country, shorter trips are fine. Plus, after my last review Greyhound contacted me with an apology which I appreciate.

I tried the Greyhound in Nashville once. At the time, the Bus station was brand new– like 2 years ago. It wasn’t quite as sketchy as the old location, but still not great. There were security guards and plenty of taxis. Only problem is that these buses usually run late and its not the safest mode of transportation. But it is cheap.
Through Nashville, the Greyhound, goes basically anywhere, but here are what I imagine to be the popular ones:
— Louisville, KY (Ave. 3h)
— Memphis, TN (Ave. 3h 55)
— Atlanta, GA (Ave. 4h 20)
— Knoxville, TN (Ave. 3h)
— Lexington, KY (Ave. 6h)
At some point though, the combination of the time it takes to travel and the price of the ticket are no longer competitive to just flying so this is really more for somewhat local day trips.

If you are unfortunate enough to ever ride Greyhound, be warned: this place is the worst of the worst. Not enough seats, the few outlets they have are loose and work poorly, and the rent-​a-​cops they employ for security are true pieces of shit. This place is an abomination. I pray that God swiftly smites them.

I’m so hesitant to give this station a 4 star but I did. Okay, let me explain why.
I’m rating this on bus station standards, I’m not going to compare this to restaurants or whatever.
The one I made a stop was the one on Charlotte Ave, across from the Korean/​Asian Grocery store and Manna Korean restaurant. I hear this is the new one and I can definitely see why that is (compared to the Memphis station and the Bowling Green station…).
There were a lot of people in the station, so be prepared to not get a seat. There were people there yelling about how they couldn’t get a seat on the bus because they didn’t have a re-​boarding pass and Greyhound does a pretty terrible job keeping track of how many people they sold their tickets to.
In the station, the employees had neon yellow vests, so they were easy to identify, and they were pretty helpful and had a good attitude. There was a ticket stand, a «restaurant» that sold prepackaged sandwiches and drinks, snacks and all that, and a souvenir shop (I don’t know why you’d get your Nashville souvenirs here but, they had that, and I didn’t go near). The bathrooms were public bathroom cleanliness, not terribly disgusting but it’s not a place you want to spend too much time.
The terminals are numbered so you could line up based on the bus you want to get to. Greyhound makes you get off at major stops for some reason so you want to pay attention to the call for boarding.
I was really worried about the safety at this station, but it’s well lit and crowded (people were weird but not too sketchy/​dangerous), employees come in and out. It just seems like people want to get to where they want to go and don’t want too much trouble.

I read the other reviews and was worried about traveling to Nashville on the bus but, at least for me, it wasn’t too bad. The location on Charlotte St. was only a hop, skip, and a jump away from the Sheraton, the Hermitage Hotel, the Nashville Public Library, Puckett’s restaurant, etc. I walked to downtown and back to the station and never felt afraid. The station itself provides lockers (unbelieveably economical!). There was a snack bar, drinks, even toys etc. There’s a section where you can charge up your phone. Not bad all in all!

Ever noticed that the Greyhound Station always seems to be in the scariest part of every city in America?
The station originally was on 8^th and Demonbreun, but they moved it to Charlotte Pike. Neither location is considered truly safe, but hey, it’s a greyhound station. If you don’t like it, then don’t ride it.
However I must say that the station looks a lot less scuzzy than the old hub spot, and has a lot more glass windows too. It’s easy to notice that the station is still in development though, so who knows what could happen next.
I had the unique pleasure of taking the first 1^st bus of the day at 3:45am with some of Nashville’s «finest.» I’ve ridden the bus many times — mostly with my dad when I was younger and my family wasn’t as financially secure — so I’m prepared for the rodeo. On this ride, I fortunately sat next to a normal person, and we both fell asleep to our iPods for the 3 hour ride to Birmingham.

Don’t ever buy your ticket at the station unless it’s a last option and you’re a bit of a gambler. Contrary to popular belief, greyhounds very often sell out, so it’s smarter to buy tix ahead of time.

Keep you’re expectations low when riding a Greyhound. You just need to get from point A to B. If you keep that mentality, you’ll do just fine.

I wish I could give this place negative stars. It doesn’t deserve even the one listed, but unfortunately that’s the only choice in order to leave a review. The station itself was just gross overall… come on greyhound! At a place that has passengers with luggage, the doors should be automatic and not single push doors. There aren’t enough seats in the place (not sure that I would have sat in one anyway) and the bus needs to be aired out and sprayed with febreeze! Disgusting. But it wasn’t only the atmosphere… the employees were horrible. From the desk agent to the ticket collector to the guy who throws the luggage on the bus, every single person was so unfriendly. They are in the wrong job to have to be dealing with customers like they do. I came straight from airport to this Nashville greyhound station, and it put a bad taste of Nashville in my mouth. I can only hope that not everyone in Nashville or other greyhounds are as rude and miserable as these employees. Greyhound lost my business.

Wow. E really hates busses. I’m not a fan myself by any means, but in my experience with them I know that the quality of the station you’re brought to makes a huge difference in the trip. Nashville’s is especially dreary. It doesn’t have the amenities of larger hubs like Memphis. It’s sandwiched between Christie’s Cabaret and some homeless missions so the people floating around nearby are even less desirable than your standard bus station folks.
It’s probably the only place in Nashville where a single girl traveling alone can’t get someone to open the door for her as she squeezes through with her overflowing luggage.
