J Bangs Salon

I’ve been going to Amanda at J Bangs for a year and a half now and I can’t recommend her or this salon enough! I am notorious for always wanting to change up my hair color or cut at every appointment, and she always has a great idea, or brings my wild ideas back down to earth (because I can’t always get that exact cut I see on Pinterest with my hair type). She has done balayage, long cuts, short cuts, deep purples underneath and the best blonde highlights I have ever had (I’ve stuck with the same color for at least three appointments now). I get compliments about my color all the time!
The salon is very nice, casual, clean and comfortable. They also have a pedicure chair and manicurist. For a Green Hills location, the parking is usually pretty easy as well.
Go to J Bangs and get an appointment with Amanda. You will not be disappointed!

I’m particularly difficult to please when it comes to my cut and color. I was frustrated with spending large amounts of money and several hours at salons only to walk out feeling «okay» about my hair. As a result, I’ve bounced around for years and I can’t remember the last time I went back for a cut from the same person twice. After leaving J. bangs, for the first time in a long time I was excited with the results of my money and my time.
The wait times on getting an appointment are pretty reasonable considering it’s a salon, not a GreatClips. Don’t expect to get an appointment a few days out, but I’ve never had an issue getting in within 1.5 — 2 weeks.
The staff is always extremely friendly and polite and I feel that my stylist takes a lot of time to really understand what I want, but also makes suggestions based on what would look best on me. I found that to be missing most other places. They want you to know what you want before you get there. At J. bangs they will help you figure it out!
I love my hair again and I get a lot of compliments on it (because it’s the right fit for me thanks to my stylist). I’ve even had several people ask where I get it done!
The salon is a little pricier, but that’s to be expected in Green Hills.

My husband and I both drive over an hour one way to go to J Bangs. Lyndse Hall has been our stylist since around 2010. She is extremely talented with cut and color and has a great ability to understand what her clients are wanting. Even though I am changing my hair color every 4−5mths, Lyndse never disappoints. Worth the drive time and money.

LOVE this place! Julie, the owner, is super friendly and a very talented stylist. I recently had a terrible hair experience at a different salon when I went in for blonde highlights and came out a brunette :(J Bangs got me in right away and fixed my hair without damaging it. All of the stylists really know what they’re doing!

I got my hair cut here once two years ago after getting a groupon type deal. The management was very nice and the experience overall was pleasant. However, unfortunately I received one of the worst haircuts I’ve ever gotten. I don’t remember the woman’s name but she did a really terrible job of giving my short, straight hair a simple trim and I ended up having to get it fixed somewhere else. She was also oddly quiet and unfriendly until the end when I think she noticed I wasn’t happy, and started being friendlier. I feel bad giving this review when I was there so long ago — hopefully this woman isn’t even there anymore. But I think that if this salon wants to gain more clients (as I recall it was new when I went) they should focus on getting professionals to work for them, because this woman clearly wasn’t. I would recommend making sure you get a well reviewed stylist if you plan on going here — don’t just go to anyone like I did.

It pains me to write this review of J Bangs…
My first visit to J Bangs was very pleasant. I have a very challenging work schedule and often cannot schedule a hair appointment until 2 – 3 days prior. When I called J Bangs they set me up right away with a very talented colorist. When I got home it wasn’t the color I wanted (much darker than I was used to). So I called to see if they correct it. My second visit was also very nice and professional and they didn’t charge me for the correction.
The reason I can only give 3 stars is because of my attempt at a third visit. They could not get me in for another 2 weeks. I understand that they are very busy but I had told them on my first visit that my work schedule didn’t allow me to make appointments far in advance. They told me no problem. I even gave them my name and number and asked that the colorist call me if anything opened up. A shame but I won’t be going back…

Julie is amazing! She is an incredible stylist and will do what you want. Shewill gives input if you ask and will do what is best for your face shape. Sometimes I like spontaniety while other times, I just want a trim. I have straight black hair and Julie knows how to layer them to give it the volume that I need. I work a lot so I can’t have a high maintenance hairstyle. I’m planning to cut my hair again for Locks of Love once I have 20 inches to cut off and can’t wait to ask Julie!
I’ve seen other customers come in with terrible days or going through rough patches in their lives and J. Bangs provides them with that extra pep that they need. The salon is great and I would recommend this to anyone who wants to leave feeling attended to and great!

Wayne is awesome. He is the first stylist in 8 years that has gotten my color (blonde) right! He listens to you but will also give his input on what he thinks will look good. Make sure you block off some time though because he is very thorough!
The salon itself is beautiful and has a really great energy about it. It has really great natural light and I always feel beautiful when I leave!

As a special treat to myself I had Jenn do a straightening treatment on my hair. So worth it! My hair has been a mess in the weather and the treatment made it shiny and frizz free, eliminating my get-​ready time (which is good because I hate spending time getting ready). Ladies, do yourself a favor and try this!

I absolutely love this salon. I have been going here for 1 ½ years and I have been very happy. I have actually received a Keratin treatment 3 times from Jessica and the treatments are awesome! And now Jessica does extensions!!! I’m so excited!!! The staff is so friendly and they all get along so well. You get a great feeling while you are there. I highly recommend this salon!

Visited June Arnold at J. Bang’s last week for the first time and had a great, initial experience. The salon gets a B– and June got an A+ in my book. She took the time to assess my needs and desires and didn’t nickel and dime me on products and services. I will definitely return.

I just realized I needed to update – I no longer go to J. Bangs because my stylist, Morgan, left to open her own place. And, as I’m loyal to stylists and not salons, had to say sayonara to J.B.
As far as I know, it’s still a good place to go though. Convenient if you are in the Green Hills (Hillsboro Road) area and I’m pretty sure they take walk-​ins.

About the worst customer service in the business. Don’t know how they stay in business. Don’t count on them for anything if you are not pleased. They could care less. I’ve tried to reach one of the owners for days and not as much as a phone call in return. Thumbs down for an owner that does not care about their clients.
