I live less than a mile from the Kroger on Clarksville, but I drive over 10 miles Publix across town for my groceries. I usedta shop at the Kroger in Green Hills but the traffic in and out of Green Hills is more than I can endure. The only time I go into the Kroger in my neighborhood when I need a few items to make a meal that day. I never buy meat from the Kroger on Clarksville, and I try to avoid buying dairy there. Why do I drive to Publix across town rather than shop at the Kroger in my neighborhood? The Kroger in my neighborhood is poorly managed and poorly stocked. The meat section is thinly stocked; beware of the expiration date on dairy and bread products. Don’t expect any of the gourmet items you find at other Krogers and stores in the city(e.g., specialty coffees, cheeses, wide variety of frozen vegetables). If you eat fish, don’t bother driving to Kroger on Clarksbille. You won’t find anyone who works in the store in the aisles to answer your question nor are there any in the back in the imaginary meat section. Last night the lights were out in the parking lot and everyone inside seemed kool with it. You get the picture by now. The demographics of the neighborhood(i.e., black and brown people and working class Others) has probably convinced the head honchos at Kroger that there’s no need to invest in the store or care about its patrons. Now that the Kroger on Monroe/8th Avenue has been upscaled to meet the needs of the hipsters moving into Salemtown and Germantown, the Clarksville Ave. Kroger is the last of the shabby stores. Even though North Nashville/Bordeaux is not a shabby section of town. Black and brown and working class people live over here, but there’s nothing shabby about our neighborhoods. The people who live in Bordeaux, Ashland City, and Joelton who shop at this Kroger are solid homeowners. Some of our homes compare in prices to those in East Nasvhille and Germantown. But the managers at Kroger don’t seem to notice. The Clarksville Ave. Kroger patrons deserve better. I guess we’re going to have to join together and let our voices be heard and demand improvements.

As for Krogers go around Nashville it falls on the lower end. Biggest downfall is that it doesn’t have a fish counter. Other than that it isn’t bad. Has a pretty decent floral center. Generally clean but the selections are great. I would take the extra time to drive another 10 minutes out of my way to go to another but in a pinch it works.
