Local Tastes of Nashville

I was looking for something to do for a first date and it had to be something where we would be able to learn about each other so I tried this food tour. For anyone that would like to talk, learn about each other and eat great food in German Town you must go on this food tour. We had a wonderful time learning about each other, enjoying the local restaurants, and learning about Nashville and its history. Debbie was a great guide.

Awesome tour! Book ahead of visiting Nashville! We took the Germantown tour with Debbie and she was an awesome leader! Super friendly and very knowledgable about her city! It was great to walk the streets of Germantown and learn about the old history along with seeing a transition of modern flare that is up and coming! All restaurants that Debbie took us to were great! She had water for us along with a table already set up at each location. If visiting, definite try one of her tours and make sure you are hungry!

Fantastic way to see Nashville. From the bustling farmer’s market, bicentennial mall/​park, historic Germantown, I felt welcomed in this great city through it’s history and southern charm. As a visitor, it’s hard to overstate how much this adds to your experience of a place. It was an added pleasure to have some unique conversation and education from the owners and chefs that make up the food stops. Debbie is charming and is also a great resource for recs on other things around town for after the tour is over!

Debbie was a great guide and patiently explained all the sights and history of Nashville and provided some great food along the way. The food stops were fantastic and were more than enough to keep you full. I would highly recommend this tour. The German town area is a great little secret and one you could easily miss as you walk up, down and around the Broadway area.

Book this tour on the website in advance for a great, local experience! This was a very enjoyable way to get an even deeper feel of all things local and historical about Nashville. All of our stops and restaurants were small local to here. I do not believe I could have gotten this full experience in any other way in town. We were there during a holiday so a couple of restaurants were closed, but the three that we were able to go to were all very tasty. The walk was much easier than I first imagined, which was very nice; short and simple.
We started outside of the middle of farmers market, which is a great spot to enjoy before or after your tour. We had BBQ sliders there which were oh so tasty. We walked out into the Bicentennial Mall, and got some great history lessons, views of Capitol Hill and the city, and heard some cool things in the carillon.
We walked over into Germantown where there is much new and old life represented. We heard a lot more cool history here while seeing that many young and new local shops and people are starting to call this area home. We had some delicious nutella and strawberry crepes, and continued our walking journey.
The next area was super historic with some of the oldest homes and buildings in Nashville, they were beautiful. The Italian place was closed so we did not get to try their delicious bread and cheese. We knew ahead of time we were only going to be able to visit ³⁄₅ restaurants due to holidays. We walked through some more beautiful neighborhoods to the other restaurant that was closed, where I saw in others’ photos some delicious looking Reuben sandwiches. Mmm… Just one more reason to come back and do it again!
Lastly, we saw some historical churches, and heard some very neat history for the Germantown area. We began the walk back towards the market, but stopped at a wonderful cupcake and cake shop along the way. I got to have the lemonade one, and I loved it. Strawberry is also good.
All in all this was a beautiful way to spend a couple of hours in the Music City. Debbie is very knowledgeable and passionate about her city, and this place is full of life from things of old to the new. Bring some extra dollars if you like any of the small business you visit and you want to buy some of their merchandise. I highly recommend this tour to anybody, and know Debbie will provide a memorable experience for you!
