Driving down 4th Ave. S past car mechanics and old urban houses, Dudley Park comes as a pleasantly surprising green space. Located right next to a preschool, it is well-maintained and offers a lit football field, baseball diamond, playground, picnic tables, and an asphalt path that runs around the parameter of the park. There isn’t really anything particular about this park that would cause me to visit it deliberately, unless I was looking for a place to kick around a soccer ball or something like that. But it’s a nice addition to the neighborhood, and I always find it heartening to discover another green space in the city.
