Mattress King

More like Mattress Schmuck. I bought local and thought I would get better service. Not so. Management is terrible. Go to Macy’s or Costco or even H Gregg. I have had better service at the grand bazaar in Istanbul than these liars.

As a first time mattress buyer, I really didn’t know what to expect out of the whole mattress shopping experience. Do I get to take a nap? Can I bring my own pillow? Are there really that many differences? We decided since they were relatively close to our house that we’d try Mattress King. We go in there on a Sunday afternoon probably an hour and a half before closing. We were the only customers for basically the whole time we were there, and there was only one employee working at the time. He was very knowledgable and actually pointed us to the right mattress on the first try! Of course I still had to sit on just about every other one in the store just to see the difference, but he gave us our space and let us talk it over, and I think because it was close to closing and we were still coming back to the one mattress, he said that he would check and see what the «absolute lowest price» he could do for that one would be. He came back with a great deal, so we bought the mattress on the spot! We thought everything was great and were very happy, then he calls us as we’re doing some other shopping in 100 oaks and tells us he’s «made a gigantic error». Apparently the price he quoted us and that we had just purchased our mattress for was wrong, and it was actually going to be about $ 300 more (+tax). Now I’ve worked in sales before, and I always thought that once the transaction had been made, that was it. But apparently I’ve been in the wrong salesforce or something because it was essentially either we pay this extra money, or our order is cancelled. We went back and forth for a while, and finally after talking to the manager, they split the difference, but we still had to tack on an additional $ 150 to our price, which could have gone to better use as some sheets or a comforter (because now that I ordered a King bed, I realize how expensive covering one is). I can’t give it a one because the initial conversation was great, and even after they screwed up they did work with us a little, but just the whole experience was fouled by that «gigantic error.» So make sure you know what you’re paying and hopefully this won’t happen to you as well!

I wanted to give this place a good review (and if they end up pulling through, I will ;D), but I can’t after the experience we’ve had!
The manager who sold us our bed seemed to give us a wealth of helpful information and clearly lay out all of our options, even suggesting we get a great deal on a floor model they were selling at 50%! What could be better?
However, after only a few nights, we decided the bed was not for us and called to ask about the 120 day return policy we had been told about. We were informed that the series of our floor model did not fall under that policy, a teensy fact he failed to mention.
Though he admitted he may have not been clear about giving us the correct info, we were told there was nothing they could do. Oh, and their attempt at helpful advice? They said we should buy an expensive mattress pad, because apparently spending tons of money on a bed you don’t like just isn’t enough salt in the financial wound.
I feel bad not being supportive of a locally-​run business, but they need to learn how to treat their customers!
